Meerabai, The Poetess & Saint

Hi friends,

Meerabai is known to every Indian and needs no introduction.

She was born as a Rajashtani Princess and was married to Rana Bhoj. She dedicated her life to God (Girdhar) after enduring the trials and tribulations of her life in the royal palace with her war mongering father and husband. Her quest to find inner peace is set at a time when music and poetry was at its zenith in India. During her time there were music legends like Tansen, Baiju Bawra and Swami Haridas. Through her music and devotion to God she also met the great spiritual leaders of the day like Kabir, Tulsidas and Raidas. She was given a cup of poison by her husband which she drank without any fuss!

Here is the picture of a girl posing like Meerabai. She is wearing a ready to wear stitched Saree and is holding a musical instrument in her one hand. She can have a pair of Chipni in her other hand.

If you like to dress up like Meerabai or need more info about the costume, you can contact Alankar Dresswalla visit URL http://alankardress.googlepages.com/

Dance Costume Bharatnatyam

India is famous for “unity in diversity”. In India we speak many different languages.
We follow different religions and diverese culture. Peoples of different states wear different costumes, very typical which can identify them. They perform different dances on various occassions.

Here I am presenting picture of a girl wearing Bharatnatyam Dance costume.
This is ready stitched to wear costume made from Kanjivaram saree/made from fabric with special border stitched at the appropriate places.

Look at the jewellary, very special to the Bharatnatyam dance.
It requires lots of practice, hard work and guidance of guru to master the dance.
It is therefore very important to have good fitting costume for stage show/competition or presentation.

The costume and jewellary is available from Alankar Dresswalla.

Birds Costume Peacock

Hi,
This is first picture in series of Costumes under Birds.
Peacock is our national Bird and hence I selected it to be posted first.
The costume which a child is wearing consists of either a Gem suit of peacock colour or a pant and a top of peacock colour.
Peacock’s feather are tied/stitched together so that it can be wrapped around the waist.
There is a heapseat which comes around the peacock feather set and it hides the stitches on the feather and also beautifies it with fan shape in the front.
There is a cap with peacock shape neck and a feather on top is worn to complete the peacock dress.
The child/adult wearing the costume is at ease while performing dance.
The dress can be used as a Fancy dress in fancy dress competition or under Birds and Animals category in pre-school, playgroup, KG, Sr. KG.
The costume is available on hire/sale, stitched to the measurements by Alankar Dresswalla. Pl visit
