Find your Genius

Genius is not the sole domain of a rare breed of person. Both you and I are entitled to that label and to play in that space — if we so choose. Here’s the big idea: Focus on any area or skill with a relentless devotion to daily improvement and a passion for excellence and within three to five years, you will be operating at a level of competence (and insight) such that people call you a genius. Focus plus daily improvement plus time equals genius.

Michael Jordan was a basketball genius. Was his spectacular success on the court purely the result of natural gifts? Absolutely not. He took what nature gave him and ran the formula: focus plus daily improvement plus time equals genius. He didn’t try to be good at five different sports. He didn’t scatter his focus. He just got devoted to being brilliant at basketball. And he was.

Thomas Edison registered a stunning 1093 patents over his lifetime and invented the lightbulb as well as the phonograph. He didn’t try to be a great merchant and a great poet and a great musician. He focused on his inventions. He improved daily, and he let time work its magic. Genius came knocking.

Makes me think of a story about Pablo Picasso. One day, a woman spotted him in the market and pulled out a piece of paper. “Mr Picasso,” she said excitedly, “I’m a big fan. Please, could you do a little drawing for me?” Picasso complied and quickly etched out a piece of art for her on the paper provided. He smiled as he handed it back to her, and said, “That will be a million dollars.” “But Mr Picasso,” the flustered woman replied, “it took you only 30 seconds to do this little masterpiece.” “My good woman,” Picasso laughed, “it took me 30 years to do that masterpiece in 30 seconds.”

Know what you can excel at — your genius. Discover your talents and then work like crazy to polish them. Know what you are really great at. Reflect on those abilities that others admire in you. Think about those capabilities that come easily to you. You might be a fantastic communicator or have a way with people. You might possess an extraordinary ability to execute and get things done. Perhaps your special talent lies in innovation and creativity and seeing what everyone else sees but thinking a different thought. Find your genius points and then develop them. Start today and in three to five years people will be writing about you. Calling you a genius. Celebrating your magnificence.

Take charge

Somewhere along the path of life every successful person finds out how to live their own life as they wishes to live it. They don't let themselves to become victims of circumstances.

This is information age, where information is flowing freely, thick and fast. Most of us are influenced by these information. They shape our day, months, years and even destiny.

If we feed our minds with weeds, we can expect to harvest only weeds. When we sow potatoes, we can expect to reap only potatoes and not tomatoes.

We listen to media news, read information on the internet and say, “The country is messed up.” This is like cursing the soil, seed, sunshine and the rain, which is all we’ve got. When we get our own planet, we can rearrange this whole deal.

Walk away from the crowd. Don’t use their excuses. Take charge of life.

Take advice, but not orders. Only give yourself orders.

Abraham Lincoln once said, “Since I will be no one’s slave, I will be no one’s master.”

We must take personal responsibility. We cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but we can change ourselves. That is something we have charge of. We don’t have charge of the universe, but we do have charge of whether we read the right materials, develop new skills and take up new jobs.

Our paycheck is not our employer’s responsibility; it’s our responsibility. Our employer has no control over our value, but we do.

Criticism

The human mind has limitless power, provided we allow it to work unhampered. At times un-justified criticism can stop us before we get started. It is nothing but the influence of other minds ' a negative influence which often is imagined. A person who is filled with fear of criticism often will not put forth his ideas lest he be rebuffed, and so he loses his great gift of imagination and self-reliance.

This happened with me when I entered the word of blogging in May 2008. For few days I just hopped around from one blog to another. Wherein I had strong desire to put up something. At last when I did, I forbid everybody to read my first blog and made it my personal reading.

We may examine the careers of men who achieved mighty breakthroughs in their fields and we may marvel at the way in which they found their abilities and put them to effective use. At the same time we may see many of the obstacles they had to overcome. Rarely, however, do we know of the adverse criticism many such men faced. Had they feared this criticism and let it take root in their minds, all their ability to conceive and achieve might have been crippled.

It is one thing to listen to advise from a person qualified to give advise. It is quite another to allow adverse criticism to hamper our thinking. Let's set aside fear of criticism and blog away .

Women

"Behind every successful man there is a woman". Is this statement true?, ..Why not?.

A man's drive comes from his desire to please and protect his woman! He brings home the means to buy comfort and luxuries far beyond what is needed merely to maintain life, and if he is honest he will tell you that he does it for his woman. The sound of his footsteps, when he gets back home after a hectic day, are alone sufficient to spread happiness and joy in his home. It is a pleasure and joy to hear a man paying homage to his woman for his success.

How relevant are these words at this moment of time. We can see families disintegrating due to lack of love and trust. Where people count their career above all relationship. A man not successful in his home cannot be a success in the outside world. He may attain meager success, but it will be short lived. We may find some rip-roaring character who says he is man enough to do without the influence of woman. Chances are he is not able to get along with women or with men either or he may have such deep inner doubts of his own manhood that he overcompensates for his lack.

"To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage."

My friends suggestion, comments and criticisms are most welcome .

Let peace prevail-2

Dear Ilanders, as i write these words, ndtv is flashing news about the serial blasts in Delhi. The act of some cowards. The ruthless people who want to derail the progress and prosperity of this great nation. I would like to reproduce my earlier post to release my pent up anger

Some times it strikes me as to why people fight one another for small things like religion, money and power. Is humanity above religion? Is humanity above money? Is humanity above power?. Why can’t people be good human beings first? Why people forget that God created us to lead by example. What kind of example are these people (who fights for religion, money and power) setting up for the upcoming generation. All religion teaches us to love, to care, to help, to give. Where has the teachings of religion gone? God has created abundance in this world for everyone. It’s what each and every individual wants out of life matters. It’s there for the asking.

I firmly believe that God has given us about 60 to 70 years to live (if everything goes as per his plan), why not lead this life happily, with lots of love for one another.

Let us all come together and raise our voice against heinous acts of people who fights in the name of religion, terrorise those people who are peace loving.

Thoughts

Feed your mind on little worries and it will develop quite an appetite for big worries.

Thoughts are things .., that every thought we sends forth, be it good or bad, comes back in due time, greatly multiplied, to curse us or to bless us according to its nature.

Change your tommorrow !

Do not worry about yesterday, it’s past and it will never change.
Do not worry about tomorrow, it’s anyway going to be there.

You cannot make the most of tomorrow, without first making the most of today.
You can change your tomorrow, only by changing your today

Strange but true !!!!!

We make them cry who care for us.
We cry for those who never care for us.
And we care for those who will never cry for us.
