One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher chanakya and said,
“Do u know what i just heard about your friend?”
“Hold on a minute”,chanakya replied.”Before telling me anything i would like you to pass a little test.It is called the triple filter test”.
“Triple filter?”
“That is right”,chanakya continued,”Before you talk to me about my
friend,it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you are going to say. That is why i call it the triple filter test. The
first filter is “Truth”.Have you made absolutely certain that what you are about to tell is true?.
“No”,the man said,”Actually i just heard about it”.
“All right”,said chanakya.”so you dont really know if it is true or not.Now let us try the second filter, the filter of ‘Goodness’.Is
what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?”
“No,on the contrary……”
“so”,chanakya continued,”you want to tell me something bad about him but you are not certain it is true. You may still pass, the test
because there is one filter left;the filter of ‘usefulness’.Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?”.
“no,not really”.
“Well”,concluded chanakya,”If what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?”.

You reap what you sow! - If someone is criticized erroneously, according to Sanathana Dharma - the offender will reap the consequence within a month if the offended knows the offense or within a week if the offended is not even aware of it! It is postulated in Devi Bhagavatam.

Great story. I will remember it always. They say, If you want to say a good thing about a person, go ahead; if you dont have a good thing to say about a person, don”t say.
Thanks for the post.

Loose Lips sink Ships don”t they - but then there are times when what you hear is the truth -even though you never heard it directly and it may not be goodness and it may not be useful at a given moment in time -but later on could come in useful.
Nice topic to debate on. Have a wonderful day. Take care

Very good filter test yaar. I will try it from now. Becuz sometime the things which we hear about our dear one may not be true but it hurts us for few mins. and make us dull also.
