The Nakshatras or the Constellations form a major and the Most Important element of the Hindu Astrology and “Muhurtha” streams of knowledge. Without these, our knowledge would be incomplete. 

Nakshatra means “that which never decays”. It has been referred to as “Constellation” or “Asterism” and also at times as “Lunar Mansions”, by the Western Astrologers. Among these the word “Asterism” comes closest to the actual meaning of “Nakshatra”. 

The Nakshatras represent a cluster of Stars. For instance the first Nakshatra in sequence known as “Ashwini” is made up of 3 stars which form the looks of a Horse, hence from the Sanskrit word “Ashwa” which means a Horse, we get “Ashwini”. The Horse thus becomes the symbol of this asterism. The Horse represents physical power and stamina; hence those born in this Nakshatra are always active, tenacious, dynamic and full of energy. 

How do we co -relate the Nakshatra’s to the planets in an individual’s Horoscope

The Sky can be said to be a Stage and the Planets, as the players on the Stage. The screen behind the Players represents the Backdrop of the sky, which screen keeps on changing with every new act in the Play. The Nakshatras form the designs on this ever-changing Screen. This is like a singer singing on the stage while behind him the projections on the Screen can be changing colors or varied scenery which the Director of the program may have decided. When we talk of the Planet Moon in an individual’s Birth Chart, the The rising asterism nearest to the degrees of Moon at time of one’s Birth in the backdrop of the sky, will be considered and said to be said as “Janma Nakshatra”, or the Asterism in which ones Moon is placed in.  

How do they help us

The Nakshatras form a major “anga” or a major Element of the Hindu Panchanga.

The Nakshatras are made use of when choosing a Muhurtha in Electional Astrology.
The Nakshatras guide us to the first letter of an infant’s name at time of “Naamkaran”or namekeeping ceremony.  
The Nakshatras also guide us very beneficially in matchmaking.  

The Nakshatras guide us to how each Planet in the Horoscope will function. This forms the study of another Branch of astrology known as “Nakshatra Padhaty”. 

Janma Nakshatra

The Moon placed in a particular Nakshatra decides the mental bearings of the Native how would they be, and if they are not in required levels, then the remedial measures of the Moons Nakshatra Lord Owner have to be undertaken for pacifying and strengthening the Moon so as to decrease the malefic effects and bring an increase in the benefic one. 

In Astrology there are a limitless number of uses of the Nakshatras for gauging celestial influences on human Lives and the mundane. This can cover many Hard Paperback Volumes if one decides to write a thesis on same. 

108 Beads of the Japa Mala 

Those who are aware of the Hindu rosary or the “Japa Mala” for counting of Mantras must also be knowing that there are 108 beads in the Mala. Now this number is not just due to fluke. 

A Circular Pizza may be compared to the sky. Cutting a Pizza into 27 equal parts each, would cover a span of full 360 degrees correspondingly in the sky which we address as the Zodiac. Each Nakshatra too would thus measure an arc of 13.20 degrees in the Zodiac.

The Ancient Indian Astrologers have always preferred precision in their studies and keeping this in their mind, have further subdivided this arc of 13.20degrees into 4 parts of 3.20 degrees each known as “Padas”. So we now have 27 x 4 = 108 Padas. This is the reason said to be for having 108 beads in the “Japa Mala”. It is also believed that when one recites one full Mala of 108 Mantras, he has asked for forgiveness and also requested for blessings from each part of the Zodiac which influence every small or big affairs of the human existence. In short asking for Grace from the Omnipresent, Omniscient and the Omnipotent Lord or the Creator under whose domain the whole Zodiac is contained. In same way, in the scriptures the Nakshatras too are considered to be Divine beings, worthy of being worshipped through the Lords of these Nakshatras who are the Navgrahas or the 9 Planets in Hindu Astrology. 

In other words, we have 27 nakshatras with 4 charans each. Multiply 27 x 4 and you get 108.

So when You take 108 names of the Lord, you automatically are doing remedial measures for every  planet in Your chart, because all the Lords of these charans are nothing else but manifestations of the Supreme itself. 108 Padas means all the degrees of the Zodiac covered. You have by taking 108 names of the Lord, actually paid obeisance to all the portions of this Universe.

So finally, the Zodiac as we consider in Astrology consists of the following.

1. The Zodiac of 360 degrees divided into 12 parts each of 30 degrees named as the Zodiac Signs in the order- Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn , Aquarius and the Pisces owned by the 7 + 2 = 9 Planets, where the 7 Planets comprise of The Sun, The Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn while the other two are shadowy planets (Invisible) called as Rahu, Ketu or the Dragons Head and the Dragons Tail respectively, in Western Astrology. They are the Northern and Southern Nodes of the Moon.

2. Furthermore division followed by the 27 Nakshatras each measuring 13.20 degrees arc of the Zodiac. This again followed by 108 Charans or Padas as explained above.

Below are given the names of the 27 Nakshatras and a List of their other attributes. This List is not Exhaustive which please Note.


Note that the above List has to be applied with cautions while delineating results and not clinging strictly to the literal Dictionary meanings of the words mentioned above. For instance a person who is born in a Nakshatra whose symbolic representation is through a Tiger, then it has got certain denotations which only an expert astrologer would be able to guide as to thereof and one must not stick to the literal translated meaning of these. For example in Matchmaking the Yonis representation will guide the astrologer to how the partners looking for a match will compare in physical compatibilities. Same goes with the Gana “Rakshasa”. For instance in Marriage matchmaking again the astrologer would see whether the Ganas match or not between the partner and if the boy and the girl looking for marriage have each “Rakshasa” and “Dev Guna”  then the Matchmaker may deny the Match because a God and a Demon cannot marry and live happily. Of course this would be subject to other conditions too.

This couple asked the following questions on March 1999:
We got married on Feb, 1999 and we want to ask the following questions.

1. Will we have compatibility according to horoscopes and mental tendencies?
   
2. Tell me about our domestic life (married life)?

4. Our finance and job or incoming sources
   
5. Our residential or self employment problems

Answers:

1. Mainly both of them are having Saturn’s lagnas, Aquarius and Capricorn signs.  The Moon indicator of mind and mental tendencies is aspected by Jupiter in male’s horoscope and is conjoined with Jupiter in female’s horoscope.  So both are not having any ego problems, inferiority complex nature, fear, tension, anger etc., but having truthful mutual affection, love till end of your life.  Luckily both are having Saturn’s moon signs, male has Capricorn moon sign and female has Aquarius moon sign.  So in any circumstances they will adjust each other life long without any future problems, so both are well compatible.
   
2. For male, he is having tenth karma lord Mars in the eleventh and fourth and ninth Dharma lord Venus in the seventh always will give him a modern lifestyle till his living period.  For female, she has Jupiter in the second and the fourth and eleventh lord Mars in the tenth with Dharma ninth lord Mercury.  So both will have a peaceful and good status oriented life style.  So both are having same pattern of life style. 
   
3. For male, his birth of children lord, fifth house Mercury is in his own Virgo sign, in exaltation strength, with Jupiter and Sun.  For female her seventh house of pregnancy parts lord Moon is in the second with Jupiter.  So she has no pregnancy problem.  Therefore the couple will have two children and one abortion, totally three pregnancies.  All these pregnancies will be possible from March 1999 up to Jupiter Venus sub-period within 10^th February, 2007.

What is the need for Birth Time Rectification:
One of the intricate things in astrology is predicting the birth chart without knowing the time of birth. Rectification is the process of mathematical correction to determine the correct birth time.  Rectification is a tool that makes certain about this and it is also useful in adjusting a known birth time as in many cases the actual birth time recorded has been rounded up or may be delayed by 5 or 10 minutes.  In case if it would have been rounded up, If the time of birth is falling under junction of two signs then the only solution is rectification.  Why rectify? Case-Study-1:
An old man came in 1979 for his lost son’s horoscope prediction.  He said his son’s birth had happened between 8.30 IST and 9.00 IST on 4th June 1949.  He said that his son was lost before 20 years.  So he suspected whether he is alive or not.

Already he went to another astrologer who calculated his son’s lagna as Cancer at 9.00IST.  According to that Cancer lagna he predicted that his son is still alive and is living in a royal status.  So he came and met me after that and I asked that old man and his wife about his lost son’s mental and physical tendencies, habits, Physical structure, Complexion, approximate time of birth, family co-borns.  From his mental and physical tendencies I found their son’s birth occurred at 8.40IST on 4th June 1949, at 9N19 Latitude-78E09 Longitude, in Gemini Lagna, Pubba Star, Venus period balance of  10 years, 2 months and 15 days.

According to rectified Gemini Lagna, lagna lord Mercury is joining in the twelfth with two malefics Mars and Sun and aspected by Jupiter and Saturn.  Eighth lord Saturn is conjoining with second lord Moon and eighth is occupied by Jupiter in debilitation house.  So his longevity was in a smaller period only upto Moon-Jupiter period from 19^th July 1968 till 18^th Nov, 1969.  Though the fifth poorvapunya lord Venus is occupying in Gemini Lagna, Venus period ended on 19^th Aug, 1959.  Lagna Lord Mercury in the twelfth with mars and Sun; Eighth lord Saturn in the third with second lord Moon aspected by evil Mars; Jupiter in the eighth weakest Capricorn house- all these combinations could not give him good longevity.  The wrong calculation as 9.00 IST gave his father mentally self confidence and cheerful belief about his son.  But my rectified birth time as 8.40 IST gave little mental upset and depression but real satisfactory conclusion to come to an end.  Two months after that father came to know by his son’s distant friends that he already dead in an accident in Mumbai and not able to identify that body also and police closed the case.  And after this on feb 1986, the father also expired in his son’s Rahu-Jupiter period, both are in third and twelfth from the ninth house.

So wrong calculation in horoscope always will give you inaccurate interpretation while accurate time rectified calculation definitely will give reality and practical guidance for all. 

Rectification of Horoscope those who know Birth Date, Month, Year and Place but not accurate Birth Time:

Let us analyze one Female Born on 2nd Aug, 1944 at ———— (approximately from 6.00 to 7.00) but she didn’t know morning or evening, at Haerbin, Changchun in China.  E. Longitude 126.39, N. Latitude-45.45

 At her time of birth, there was storm and heavy rain.

Her Mental and Physical tendencies are mentioned by herself:

Loud and High tone of voice; fast talk; small eyes; long arms and legs; slender build; she was allergic in youth hood; Often having abroad travels 26 times since 1969 till Nov, 2007. (Now she is in Japan).  Her husband is always quarrelsome.

I calculated two horoscopes both for 6.00 to 7.00A.M and 6.00 to 7.00P.M on that day 2nd Aug, 1944.

According to her tendencies that was mentioned by herself, 6.00 to 7.00A.M, Kataka (Sagittarius) Lagna is not match able with her sound speech, allergic body, asthma disease, often abroad travels since 1969, small eyes, fast loud speech etc., According to her morning birth time, she may born in a wealthy family and did not know financial problems in early age and not having abroad travels and abroad life.  Moreover she will have heart problems, tensionful and failure married life, loss of husband, speech in low voice, uterus cancer, some problems or wounding in right leg etc., So according to her mentioned points definitely she will not having Cancer lagna and morning birth time. All these mentioned tendencies are perfectly matching with Dhanus or Sagittarius Lagna. 

As per the analysis, her birth was in an average family, after 1967 luxurious life till today and other matters etc,

According to 18.55 time, she belongs to Dhanus Lagna, Pooradam Star with Venus dasa balance 12 years, 9 months and 16 days.

4.      She was born in China and now living in Japan, eastern direction from China.  Lagna lord Jupiter in the ninth Leo sign, eastern direction sign with seventh travel lord Mercury and lucky fifth lord Mars in the ninth house.  Fifth Mars, Seventh Mercury and Lagna lord Jupiter all these three planetary conjunction in the ninth house are giving her abroad life and many abroad travels.

So I came to a conclusion in her birth time as 18.55Hrs Dhanus Lagna-Dhanus Navamsa-267.07.52; Sun 106.52; Moon 258.08; Mars 140.04; Mercury 132.54; Jupiter 128.26; Venus 116.53; Saturn 72.19; Rahu 94.63 and Kethu 274.36.

To-day’s planetary position: Moon will be transiting in Libra, Mercury & Venus in Aries, Debilitated Mars in Cancer. Ketu in Gemini, Retrograde Saturn in Virgo, Rahu & Pluto in Sagittarius,   Jupiter  & Neptune  in Aquarius, Sun& Uranus in Pisces. 

PLANET MERCURY, which controls our mind, will be transiting in Aries from 30th March 10 to 6th June 10. During this period it will be in retrograde position from 18th April to 12th May. Be CAUTIOUS, as one is likely to take wrong decisions, resulting in financial losses, depending on its position in individual horoscope. Persons with Gemini, Virgo & Libra rashi need to be extra vigilant.

BE CAUTIOUS - with the change in planetary position, the situation has become highly deceptive.

CAUTION: Planet MARS (Mangal) normally stays in one house for approx 45 days. Now in Cancer (which   is its debilitated rashi) will stay for 232 days – which is very abnormal. During this period it will be in retrograde position from 20^th Dec 09 to 10^th March 10. MARS is known be very aggressive planet & is responsible for one’s actions.
Be extra CAUTIOUS as one is likely to act wrongly, depending upon its position in individual horoscope.

PORSONAL CARE stocks – COLGATE, DABUR, EMAMI, GODREJ CONSUMERS, P& G, MERICO etc will out perform next week.

YESTERDAY’S PREDICTION: Despite NIFTY traded in negative zone almost through out the day, but as predicted, FINANCIAL stocks – HDFC, DEVAN HSG., GRUH FINANCE ect went up by 2-3%. Among BANKS, INDIAN BANK, BOI, HDFC BANK & ANDHRA etc by 1-3%. In AUTO – MARUTI, M & M & TATA MOTOR by 1- 1.5%. Most of these stocks closed positive.

Sectors which get strong ASTRO support are not normally affected by downfall in the market.

It is very difficult to make money in day trading, so we advice for positional trades, but in case one get the profit same day, it may be booked.
