Friends of Tibet’s Stand on the Statement of Chinese Ambassador regarding Arunachal Pradesh and Tibet Issue

By Baldeo Pandey

Spokesperson,

Mobile No.0981560176

The statement of Chinese ambassador Sun Yuxi regarding Arunachal Pradesh given to a private TV Channel yesterday is very unfortunate and misleading. It has been a shrewd and deceptive Chinese strategy to divert and block the main issues which may crop up during scheduled visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to India from Nov.20 -23. India and China fought a war in 1962 over northeastern India’s Arunachal Pradesh state and the Aksai Chin region of the northwestern state of Jammu-Kashmir.China grabbed territory in both areas in the war, but did not get all it wanted and still claims the land that it failed to take.

Chinese are well aware of the Indian aspiration to raise the issues of Chinese occupied portions of Kashmir say Man- Sarovar, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. China is also restless regarding increasing global pressure regarding gross violation of human rights and barbarism committed by Chinese authorities in Tibet which has been suffering since 1959 under Chinese occupation.

Now it is the high time for Indian government and people to act wisely and expose the nefarious designs of China whose foreign policies have been always expansionist and deceptive. No Indian can forget Sino- Indian War of 1962 which resulted as a tactical and bluffing foreign Chinese strategy and indecisive Indian political leadership. The upcoming Indian generations are much more energetic, farsighted and patriotic to regain the lost Indian Territories from Chinese occupation.

India being the biggest democratic nation and historically, religiously and culturally is connected with Tibet. India should remember her parliamentary commitment to help Tibet to get its freedom from Monstrous China. Remarkably Indian people have been always prudent and sympathetic towards Tibetan issue and people. Today global geopolitical reality is changing very fast as America and its allies are hypocritical to democratization and always have been exploiting Middle East oil reserve shamelessly on the pretext of Global Terrorism and Democracy. But these very unholy forces are mute spectators in case of Tibetan suffering as they do not want to annoy China where they are eying on its big market as well as apprehensive of its booming economy and military might. India has to be courageous to protect its Sino-Indian boundaries and to get back its lost territories from Chinese occupation.

Independent existence of Tibet is essential for Indian sovereignty and prosperity. Tibetan has been a great nation and had never been annexed before 1959. India and other democratic nations should play a crucial role to strengthen Global Consensus for a free Tibet from cruel Chinese clutches. Hopefully the globalised world will manifest its solidarity and will condemn the recent statement of Chinese Ambassador and at the same time support Tibet full heartedly. Gagging of Tenzin Tsundue by Indian police under Foreigner Act, 1946 is very unfortunate and an intimidation to deport him Tibet is a shameful and arbitrary act of Indian Police. It is a high time and we should not be diverted from for organizational objectives and focus to protest against all these atrocities during Chinese President Visit to India which will start from Nov 20 to 23.

Prime Minister of Tibetan Government-in-exile, Prof Samdhong Rinpoche’s Statements in Chandigarh today

Dear All,

Good Evening!

Prime Minister of Tibetan Government-in-exile, Prof Samdhong Rinpoche stated that Tibet was itself a victim of globalization process as China annexed Tibet in 60′ s.He expressed his concerned that America along with other developed Western nations has been engaged to control the world economy and to marginalize the diversity, richness and intellectual freedom of other unprivileged nations. He further elaborated that the word globalization has nothing to do anything positive to poor and suffering humanity rather it has been creating an immoral, unethical and consumerist society worldwide.

A staunch Gandhian, Prof Samdhong Rinpoche advocated Gandhian Philosophy and way of living. He also expressed his concerned about Tibetan young generation indulging in Western and consumerist way of living. He criticized the prevailing insensitivity and corruption in global politics as only profit making has become the primary objective even during a war in the name of democratization of few nations by America and its friendly nations.

He rejected the Concept of Globalization by stating that it has been damaging global economy, cultural diversity, ecological balance and sense of co-existence. Further he described China as a nation of ‘Totalitarian and Market Economy Mix Concept’ denying the human and moral rights of its citizens too. He elaborated that world market economies have been investing money in China to maximize their benefits as China is not a democracy and their people can not dare to challenge the repressive state actions.

During press briefing Tibetan Prime Minister Prof Samdhong Rinpoche expressed his optimism that under the able leadership and guidance of His Holiness Dalai Lama, Tibetan people will sustain their cultural identity and aspirations. He advocated the Concept of Genuine Democracy enunciated by Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan and supported by great Indian political thinker Achayut Patvardhan as the ideal democratic setup followed by Tibetan Parliamentary System. He was categorically expressed his consent towards the resolution passed by Tibetan parliament in-exile in favour of Tibetan autonomy from China as a principle of middle path. When he was asked about arousing aspirations of Tibetan and especially of younger generation for complete freedom from the barbaric communist regime of China, he replied that Tibetan people and government believe in ‘genuine democracy’ and Tibetan people are free to express their views and their views should be respected too.

Replying a query, Prof Samdhong Rinpoche told that he and his government do not believe in indoctrinating the minds of Tibetan youth even in case of Tibetan political movement for freedom or otherwise as Tibetan people should analyse their own that what action will weaken or strengthen their political movement to liberate Tibet from Chinese occupation. He expressed his grief in relation to passive and double standard of America and western nations to not raise the issues of gross human right violations in Tibet,Burma and Pakistan by respective dictator regimes. But he diplomatically answered a query related to Lhasa Railways lines which have been recently laid and made operative by Chinese government, he articulated that he is fully agreed with Mahatma Gandhi’s opinion regarding Railways as described in Hind Swaraj Doctrine.

Prime Minister of Tibetan Govt-in-exile, Prof Samdhong Rinpoche was in Chandigarh today as Chief Guest in a program in observance of Fourth Death Anniversary of Late Shri Kishan Kant Ji, the Former Vice President Of India and President of Servants of the People Society Late Shri Krishan Kant Ji at Lajpat Bhavan,Chandigarh. He remembered Shri Kishan Kant Ji as a reformist and great leader in Indian politics who took initiatives for electoral reforms.

In this program Friends of Tibet, RTYC and RTFM chapters of Chandigarh also actively participated along with other NGOs and eminent persons of the Union Territory. Booming India and Indians

India is booming. What does it mean? People have amazing perceptions of it. A maverick defines India as a geopolitical entity. Somewhere very soul of India misses. Intelligentsia better to call so-called intelligentsia is myopic to see the people of India in close quarter. Unlike chauvinists who are furious for Indian geographical area and monolithic culture, this class of academician and bureaucrats see only green pastures.

Unfortunately Indian mind set in general is statuschoeist barring a few pure academic and social pressure groups and NGOs.Leadership is a vague concept. Collective and sometimes charismatic leadership creeps in our ordinary thinking. Post independence scenario and development in different spheres are debatable issues. Achievements at different fronts are being candidly acclaimed. But it is an apprehension that the dehumanization and insensitivity against the poor and unprivileged sections comprising Dalit.tribals, minorities, unorganized workers, women and children etc are ever increasing in our society.

Civil societies of India are in transition and not uniform throughout. Our policy makers are excellent communicators and present data and figures where India booms and competes with other developed nations. It is the height when poor and challenged populace is seemed to be a blur on India and they do not heed attention of our conscience. Corruption in legislature, judiciary, and executive and in fourth state press is all time pervasive.

India as a booming and fast moving economy tumbles down, when the real issues like poverty, corruption and numerous other bad pictures emerge on national horizon. The biggest democracy of the world hangs its head in shame when the national and state political leaderships lose the trust of its fellow citizens for all the wrong reasons.

Improvement in purchasing capacity and lifestyle of Indian middle class has been forcefully appreciated. People of a geopolitical space create a nation and India should not be an exception. In booming sound the cry and pain of suffering humanity vanish in thick air.It seems to be “Casteism, regionalism and communalism have been incorporated as proud tags of Modern India”. Sprawling malls and shopping centers have masked the poor and ugly face of Indian villages and suburban areas.

Mankind should be the focal point. This political statement is alluring and touches the hearts of millions of Indians. Is it a true statement in the present perspective?

Birth of Democratic Nepal

By Baldeo Pandey

Demise of King’s rule and installation of democracy in Nepal is the victory of the democratic, common, secular, socialist and vibrant Nepalese people including students, farmers, employees, professionals, intellectuals etc. History will remember this Great People’s Democratic Revolution. As soon as Constituent Assembly is firmed up and a new and real people oriented Constitution is prepared …it will be the last rituals for a oppressive theocratic regime. A ruler is a ruler Hindu, Muslim, Christian or a Jew who flourishes at the cost of people’s suffering. King was using Hindu religious card to bluff the people’democratic aspirations. Maoists acted prudently by declaring unilateral cease-fire. Maoists deserve warm welcome and they should relinquish violence and come in mainstream politics. Every drop of blood shed by protesters will bolster Nepal as a vibrant and secular nation state. Even Dalits of Nepal contributed bravely to liberate Nepal from an autocratic, theocratic and exploitative royal rule.

Reservation Policy and Sensitivity

By Baldeo Pandey

The current hue and cry in favour and against the Reservation Policy in private sector and professional courses designed by HRD Ministry is getting momentum like that of early period of Mandal Commission in 1990.

Such reservations for proposed sections of society should be sensibly analysed as these castes have been oppressed from very beginning. But issue of merit and economically backwardness among upper castes people is also important factor.

Till date reservation in jobs provided to backward and oppressed sections of the society has not been audited to determine the benefit of such measures for targeted population. Economic basis for reservation has been raised emphatically but a question arises regarding its viability.

Even today certain castes and tribes like Mushahar,Gond,Harkhor,Bin,Dhanuk,Tatava,Dom,Dusadh,Charmakar,Pasi,
Kamkar etc are one of the most socially and economically backward .

Likewise socially and economically backward sections of other minority religions and women considered as a weaker and oppressed class should be taken in to consideration during formulating any reservation policy. But an even economically weak upper caste also warrants a thorough study of such reservation policy. As the social dynamics and reality should be recognized and a due procedure should be adopted to give a human face to the reservation policy in letter and spirit.

Economic basis and the provisions of essential facilities to needy people to compete the competition is the best option. But the issue of its ethical and practical realisation is the bigger challenge for our policy makers.

An Appeal To Support Tibetan Freedom Movement

Tibet has been a glorious and sovereign nation. Its social, cultural and religious identity is world famous. Unfortunately under Chinese repression the Tibetan society is in a grave situation. Tibetan population is being diluted and China is doing all the wrongs with innocent Tibetan freedom activists and monks in Tibet.Tibetan freedom fighters are languishing in jails and many of them have been executed. Even mass rape of Tibetan women has been reported. Such gross violation of human right should be categorically condemned and the world community including UNO should play their due role for salvation of suffering Tibetan humanity from barbaric clutches of Communist Regime of China.India being the biggest democracy of world should play its significant role and Indian representative in UNO should raise Tibetan Issue there without any delay.Himalayan valley has become dumpyard of Chinese Nuclear Waste and Ecological Balance is badly endangered.

Lakhs of Tibetan families are living as refugee in India and in different parts of the world. It is disgusting that USA and its European friendly nations have been waging war in Afghanistan and Iran for so called Democratization and worldwide hue and cry is being made for victory of Nepalese Democracy but such support and solidarity are badly missing in case of Tibetan issue. The obvious reasons are well known and I leave this question up to world community for analysis and justice.

Dreaming For Tibetan Independence

By Baldeo Pandey

The young generation is the real strength of a nation. The prevailing society expects a lot of things from youngsters. Especially in the case of Tibetan youth expectations are unique and high. From ancient period Tibet has been a sovereign and glorious nation. The unfortunate annexation of Tibet in 1959 by Chinese regime plunged millions of Tibetan nationals in inhumane situations. They were compelled to leave their motherland and to take refuge in the different parts of the world. Entire humanity bestows respect to His Holiness Dalai Lama Ji for his able leadership under which Tibetan culture and Buddhism is not only surviving rather flourishing worldwide.

I have been associated with Tibetan cause since a long period of time and I have been watching Tibetan students and activists throughout these years. I feel amazed to see their sincerity, devotion and patriotism. Whether it is Bicycle rally to New Delhi or Dharmashala or Candle March from PanjabUniversity to Plaza and as well Blood Donation Camp they have been participating with enthusiasm and fervour. It has been my privileged to share pain with my Tibetan brothers and sisters in different sorts of crises. Both boys and girls have been facing the odd hours bravely whenever a situation demands. Entire North India was stunned when a small number of Tibetan students opposed Chinese Ambassador and a large number of both boys and girls were detained and ultimately six boys and six girls were sent to Burail Central Jail, Chandigarh. Nobody observed any sense of panic and fear on their faces, which reflected the deep sense of commitment towards Tibetan Freedom.

Although I was associated with Indo- Tibetan Friendship Society and later on with Bharat Tibet Sahayog Manch, Chandigarh but I have always reservation with prevailing foreign policy of Indian Govt. in relation with Sino-Tibetan issue. Not only myself rather majority of Indian citizens feel hurted by listening recent unjustified Sino-Indian Declaration regarding Tibet issue in the presence of premiers of both countries. It is my personal opinion that now time demands maximum interactions between Indo- Tibetan people to develop better understanding to preserve perpetual cultural relationship and to wage a struggle against barbaric and insensitive Imperial Chinese regime.

I hope that all Tibetan students and activists will understand emerging situation and continue to fight to liberate their motherland. I have been time to time suggesting my Tibetan friends to acquire as much as diverse knowledge they can as it would helpful in the longer run of struggle. There is great potential in the Tibetan society, which needs proper guidance and utilization. I would dare to appeal my Tibetan leadership to encourage girls too to participate in different activities for proper utilization of goal.

Indian Society At Crossroad

Indian Society At Crossroad

By Baldeo Pandey

Democracy, socialism, secularism and spiritualism are the words losing their intent in present Indian perspective. Political quacks and pundits alike shamelessly manipulate these pompous words. Think about pre -independence days if something was ingrained in the mind of Indian having average intellect was commonness in term of nationality.

Today Indian society is communalized beyond imagination. It is mind boggling to understand the rationale of this deliberate attempt to rape the tolerant and cohesive society. The yesterdays of Fascism are proudly celebrated and venom of religious hatred is injected in the innocent veins of Indian society. The basic points concerning poor, destitute and downtrodden are being ignored. On the name of Cultural Nationalism, the neo-reformists are doing overtime to coerce the society into a monolithic and a draconian habitat.

The Gujarat Experiment is being glorified. Overnight national hero was born and he became Messiah of Hindutva. The secular credentials of Indian society are at stake. To garner political mileage the political counterparts are painting an ugly fresco appeasing the minorities resulting in to heinous conflicts. The doublespeak and noncommittal attitude of political juggernauts are being supplemented by a section of sycophant pseudo intellectuals.

The hyperbolic claims of social and economic development of central and various state governments are unfortunate. The free economic order presents an inequitable, insensitive and elitist image of the society. The higher-middle class enjoying the fruits of unhealthy economic overhauling is indifferent of socially and economically backward lower class of the society. The gulf between haves and haves not is ever increasing dangerously. The starvation death and loan loaded farmers committing suicide has become routine of the life. The cottage and small-scale industries are dying unnatural death. The jobless workers and their deprived families are undergoing tremendous stress and hardship.

No doubt India has progressed magnificently in the areas of education, healthcare and agriculture but this growth is not reflecting in the unprivileged and poor sections of the society. Although as per governmental version India has surplus food grain and the storehouses are overflowing with rotten foodstuff. It is bizarre that day-by-day malnutrition and poverty is on rise in the biggest democracy of the world. We are proud of our socialist, democratic and secular credentials but ironically we never feel ashamed of starvation, population explosion, communal bloodshed and pervasive corruption in the every sphere of the life. It is very difficult to analyse availability of different amenities in the society. Because if facilities are provided then a question arises that who are the beneficiaries? It is the widespread corruption, bureaucratic hassles, political interferences and biases which play dirty game of ommission and commission in imparting basic necessities to the citizens coming across different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

In any civic society it is expected from middle class to play a role of moblizer and catalyst in the day-to-day social living. Although one can see a good development in areas of information technologies and connectivity but it is unfortunate to watch demotivated and self centered social clouts remaining insensitive to what is happening around them. Surprisingly many non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are mushrooming day and night. But black clouds of suspicion regarding their honesty, worthiness and social commitment always loom above their heads. No doubt a few NGOs are doing excellent jobs in the areas of social upliftment, health, drug deaddiction and literacy like numerous fields. But there is also a caravan of black sheep exhorting the public money and international funds. Even social activism has become a fancy and status word in the Indian society. In the corridors of power, socio-political hypocrisy and sycophancy are the evil forces which retard the pace of social development. What we see is a startling situation of intellectual bankruptcy; the people at the key positions in the political and social set up have willingly or unwillingly become sycophant and hypocrite.
