Law of Attraction - 4

April 30, 2008 By: Category: LAW OF ATTRACTION

Hi

Thanks to all my fellow bloggers who took some time out for reading my blogs on law of attraction and leaving their valuable comments. Some questions have been raised by bloggers which I would prefer answering once I have shared all the articles on the said subject. Enjoy reading them and hope it proves beneficial in your life. The photo has been taken early in the morning, from a running train on the picturesque konkan railway.

The Magnetic, Attracting Power of the Mind

By Remez Sasson

The power of the mind draws certain events, circumstances and people into our lives and repels others. In this respect it resembles a magnet. Just look at the people around you. Some pass through certain events and circumstances, while others pass through different experiences. Some accomplish certain things easily, and others accomplish them with great difficulty or not at all.

Your mind is composed of the thoughts you think. These thoughts are like magnetic currents. If you think positively about some event or action, it turns out to be as you thought about it. If you harbor negative thoughts, this negativity is drawn into your life.

You attract into your life what you think about frequently. It does not mean that every thought gets materialized. Most of the thoughts are weak and are not repeated long enough to gain sufficient strength. Weak thoughts, like a weak magnet, hardly have any attractive power.

You have seen how a magnet draws metal objects. A strong and big magnet draws bigger objects than a small and weak one. Magnets have another peculiar characteristic. One side of the magnet draws, and the other side repels.

The power of attraction is a neutral power. The magnet draws to itself everything made of iron, no matter whether it is a useful object or junk. The mind acts in the same way. It attracts into your life positive and negative situations and events, according to the thoughts that you think.

Like the magnet the mind not only attracts, but also repels. If you do not believe you can get or accomplish something, then you repel it. Thoughts of incompetence, weakness, fear and inferiority create a repellent force. It is as if you are creating a wind that blows away and prevents certain things to reach you.

There are several ways to charge your mind and thoughts with magnetic power. Strong desire, concentration and faith are some of the important ingredients for infusing power into thoughts.

Many activate the magnetic power of their mind unconsciously, without knowing what they are doing. When you know the rules, you become able to activate the magnetic power of your mind consciously, positively and effectively.

Visualizing and thinking with concentration, desire and faith, and repeating these thoughts often, unleashes powerful energy. Your thoughts get radiated and broadcasted, influencing the minds of other people, and attracting to you people who think along the same lines as you do and who can help you with your plans. This process also heightens your awareness and perceptiveness of any opportunity connected with your thoughts that comes your way, and fills you with the inner power and initiative to utilize it.

Why not become conscious of your thoughts, choose to think the ones that are beneficial for you, and consciously and advantageously utilize the power of attraction? You can attract people, circumstances, events, possessions or a life style with the magnetic power of attraction of your mind.

Remember, what you think about intently, with attention and feeling is attracted to you. It can be material and it can be spiritual. The power of attraction is a universal power and manifests everywhere and in everything. It is the power that holds the Universe together. Without it there would not be any world.

Law of attraction - 3

The Universal Law of Attraction

What do you think of when you hear the word “attract”? How would it feel to be able to ATTRACT what ever you would like INTO your life? It”s possible. You can come to depend on the Universal Law of Attraction, just has you have come to depend on the Physical Law of Gravity.

You may have heard the Law of Attraction referred to in different ways throughout your life, but it has no doubt shown up. Here”s a few ways we have talked about it…

1. What you sown you reap.
2. What you put out you get back.
3. Like attracts like
4. Law of supply and demand
5. What comes around goes around.
6. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7
7. Emerson called it the Law of Compensation

Catherine Ponder, author of the Dynamic Law of Prosperity defines the Law of Attraction like this: “What you radiate outward in your thoughts, feelings, mental pictures, and words you attract into your life.”

Abraham-Hicks, defines the Law of Attraction like this: “That which is like unto itself is drawn.” Yes, like attracts like. What does this mean for you? It means that when you are focused upon what you WANT to create in your life you will attract that….and when you are focused upon what you DON”T WANT to create in your life, you will attract that too. It means that you are indeed a magnet, and it means that you are a magnifying glass. What you focus on gets bigger…and comes to you quickly.

You may have had the experience in your life where you have wanted something very badly, and out of that passion, out of that pure desire, you were able to create it. There was no stopping you. You believed that it was to be, and you did not doubt that it was to come into your life. You said YES! to having that “something” come into your life.

You may also have had the experience in your life where you have wanted something very much, and have not been able to create it. Think about money for a moment… You want very badly to create the flow of money into your life, but you don”t. You say, I want more money…but I hate paying bills, I hate that others have it and I don”t, money is evil, or you just focus on the fact that you indeed can”t create it. You take action, you ask, you pray and it still does not show up. You focus on the fact that it”s not here, you focus on the lack of money in your life. What do you think you will create?

So, if like attracts like….and you focus on the negative aspects of anything, or focus on what you do not have - you will create more of what you do not have. If you focus on what is, you will create more of what is. If you focus (and sometimes we do very strongly) on what you DON”T want in your life, for example, I don”t want cancer…I don”t want poverty…I don”t want this or that or this or that….you are saying NO to it, and that as well will bring it into our lives. What we give our attention to comes into our life…it is the Law of Attraction. Whether you are saying yes or no to something does not matter - it is the focus that carries the vibration and causes us to attract unto us. Be careful what you say no to.

The key would be to focus on feeling good and focus on what you DO want! The key is to consciously be aware of your abundance mentality, and know that you attract what you radiate and vibrate into the world. Nothing is more important that feelings good! How you are feeling and where your attention is, is your point of attraction.

You must remember that the universe is abundant - completely. There is no lack, only our perception of it. You must remember that there is always enough, and what you ask for is given to you. You must remember that you were meant to prosper… be wealthy on all levels of life. There is nothing that you can conceive of that you can not be, do, or have.

Most of the time we walk around creating by default…now it”s time to create using the Law of Attraction. You can be or do or have anything that you desire in this life. You must acknowledge yourself as the powerful creator that you are and choose thoughts and feelings that make you feel good, and that are in alignment with what you really want in your life.

Law of Attraction - 2

April 26, 2008 By: Category: LAW OF ATTRACTION

What is the Universal Law of Attraction?

The Universal Law of Attraction states: We attract whatever we choose to give our attention to–whether wanted or unwanted. This Law is Universal because it does not matter who you  are, where you live, what your religious beliefs are, what year you were born…the Law is true for everyone equally. It is as true as the Law of Gravity.

Most of the time, we attract by “default” rather than by deliberate choice. We just sort of go through our day, focusing on problems that need to be solved or on things that did not feel good nor seem right. In so doing, we are actually creating more problems, more of what does not feel good and more of what does not seem right.

Think of yourself as a huge magnet. The kind that pulls metal to itself from afar off. It doesn”t “try” to attract, it simply does attract. It is the same way for us. Whether or not we are trying to attract, we ARE doing so all the time. (Except when we are asleep.) And we attract the likeness of what we think about. If we are thinking about a lack of something, we are attracting more lack (scarcity). If we are thinking about something we love, we are attracting more of what we love and enjoy. I know it sounds incredibly simple, and it is.

We humans are actually very powerful attractors and we can use this wonderful, god-given power to attract more of what we want in life-simply by paying attention to where we place our thoughts and desires.

An old proverb just came to my mind:

“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7 It”s interesting that the writer of this proverb says “thinks in his heart” because most of the time,  we think that we think with our mind. However, it is truly from the heart where we do our thinking, our believing, our “vibrating”.

It is from the heart that we attract. Picture your heart as a powerful magnet. The heart is the “vibrator” of all signals that attract. Think of a radio. It has many different stations. To tune into a station you dial a specific frequency. As soon as we turn our attention to something (dialed it”s frequency) it begins its journey to us.

To be rid of something you do not want in your life, simply tune in to a different vibration (frequency or radio station)–to something that you do want.

I see the Art of Deliberate Attraction as consisting of three parts:

1. Getting very clear about what it is I am wanting
2. Raising my vibration until it matches what I want
3. Allowing what I want to come to me

We have the opportunity to gain clarity in knowing precisely what we want, through the many “contrasts” that life offers us. The key to successfully using contrast is to observe it briefly and use it to help you decided what you do want. This takes a little practice, since our habit is to talk about, tell others about and focus on what we did not like.

It is usually part three that trips me up. I have held onto some self-limiting beliefs for a very long time-so long that I no longer recognize them, yet they are still vibrating below the surface, canceling out what I am wanting.

My “work” is to let go of all resistance and believe that what I am wanting will come to me–simply because I want it.

Law of Attraction - I

April 25, 2008 By: Category: LAW OF ATTRACTION

As I had told in my previous, I am starting a series of articles on a very good law which one may find useful.

Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is the most powerful force in the universe.  It is simple in concept but practice is necessary.  But once you “get it”, there is no looking back!  It will be part of you forever.  The simplest definition of this law is “like attracts like.” Other definitions include:

You get what you think about, whether wanted or unwanted.

All forms of matter and energy are attracted to that which is of a like vibration.

You are a living magnet.

You get what you put your energy and focus on, whether wanted or unwanted.

Energy attracts like energy.

Everything draws to itself that which is like itself.

Here are some ways of expressing this law:

Birds of a feather flock together

Like attracts like

Whatever you want wants you

What you sow, you reap

What you put out you get back

What comes around goes around

The Law of Attraction is fun to learn and use because you are always watching expectantly for your desires to manifest.

You can deliberately use this law to create your future!

Anger Management - II

April 23, 2008 By: Category: Blogs

Hi

It was really nice to read the comments on my earlier post on Anger Management. Here is the continuation of the same post. From my next post I am gng to start a new series on a very interesting topic - “Law of Attraction” which I had come across 4 years back and shared it with my friends.

Anger is a condition in which the tongue works faster than the mind. Smile is an action which makes everything work faster except the tongue. So keep SMILING and have a nice day.

Is Anger Ruining Your Life?

When we are caught in anger, we are always cutting ourselves off from the bigger picture and from a sense of our basic connectedness. If we could see our angry emotional reactions clearly, it would become obvious that they deplete us and narrow our life.

We would see how they are aversions to life, how they separate us and keep us closed. Yet, in spite of the fact that we hurt ourselves and others with our anger, we
hold on to this restricting emotion with a puzzling tenacity.

Even as we continue to inflict pain by leaking our energy through angry emotional reactions, even as we narrow our life to one of petty self-centeredness, we continue to indulge in angry thoughts and behaviours with a stubbornness that defies common sense.

What is anger really about? When life is not the way we want it, we react. If we have expectations, we expect them to be met. If we have requirements, we require them to be met.

If we have strong desires, we will not be satisfied unless they are fulfilled. Though life is neutral, with no bias toward fitting our pictures of how it should be, we continue to believe that life should go the way we want. And when it doesn”t, the result is often anger, in one form or another.

I”m not talking only about big explosions of anger. Even on mellow days, we leak energy through anger, from morning to night. We can be angry in the form of impatience if we have to wait in traffic at a red light.

We can be angry in the form of irritability if our television remote stops working. We can be angry in the form of self-righteousness if someone arrives late. We can
be angry in the form of frustration if our team loses. We can be angry in the form of indignation if we feel we are ignored or not appreciated.

Most of the time, we simply follow one of the two characteristic ways we have been taught to deal with anger when it arises. First, if our conditioning tells us that it”s not okay to be angry, we will suppress our feelings.

The second, more common, way of dealing with anger is to express it. We express it internally through ruminating or wallowing; we express it externally through blame.

Whether we suppress or express our anger, in neither case do we ever clarify it, nor do we really experience it. Even when we”re caught up in expressing anger, we”re rarely in touch with its energy.

We”re so lost in the juiciness of believing our thoughts and in blaming that we don”t
experience the anger. In fact, one of anger”s functions seems to be that it allows us to avoid facing what”s really happening.

What are we avoiding? We could be avoiding the more painful emotions of hurt or grief. We could be avoiding facing the core fears that almost always underlie our anger. It”s so much easier to be angry than it is to experience hurt or grief or fear.

No wonder we spend so much time indulging our anger! It”s necessary to acknowledge that we often love our anger, even when it makes our life miserable. We often mistake the feeling of power that accompanies our anger as being somehow authentic and self-validating. This is the so-called ego at its work of perpetuating the self-centred dream.

We have to understand that it”s not bad to feel anger ? anger is simply our conditioned response to life when it doesn”t match our pictures. We only make matters worse by adding to the anger self-judgement and self-hatred, both of which
are rooted in more pictures of how we, or life, should be.

Instead, we can bring loving-kindness ? the essence of which is non-judgement, to our practice, lightening the heaviness and self-importance of our own drama.

Notice your anger whenever it arises. Regard it as your path to awakening. Notice whether you stuff it or express it. Finally, as Aristotle says: Anyone can become angry ? that is so easy. But to become angry with the right person, to  the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way ? that is not so easy.

Thoughts for the week

April 22, 2008 By: Category: Thoughts

Hi

a few thoughts as usual from my sms collection. have a wonderful week ahead. thanks for reading my post and giving your comments. do keep reading and be in touch.

Distance never separates any relation;

Time never builds any relation;

If feelings are true from heart,

then friends are always friends forever.

*****************************************************************************

Life's little instruction for the day.

Spend less time worrying WHO's RIGHT

and

more time deciding WHAT's RIGHT.

************************************************************

One of the reasons why

people hold on to memories

so tight is becoz

memories are the only thing

that don't change when everyone else does.

********************************************************************************

Happiness always looks small

while you hold it in your hands,

but let it go

and

you learn how big and precious it is.

********************************************************
Whenever you win in life,

win as if you are used to it;

And whenever you lose in life (god forbid),

lose as if you enjoyed losing for a change.

That's attitude

**********************************************************************************

Respect the old when you are young;

Help the weak when you are strong;

Confess the fault when you are wrong;

Coz one day you are

going to be old, weak and wrong.

***************************************************************
Good relations don't need any

promises, terms or conditions,

it just need two wonderful people

" one who can trust and one who can understand!!!"

***************************************************************************

If you miss an opportunity,

don”t close your eyes with tears,

keep your vision clear so that

you will not miss the next one…

*********************************************

Always draw a circle around

the ones you love,

never draw a heart coz

hearts can be broken,

but circles are never ending

***********************************************************************

Respect those who find TIME 4 U in their Time table..
But LOVE those who DON”T have to
consult their TIMETABLE when U Need them

Transform your life

Transform Your Life By Becoming More Aware

Swami Sukhabodhananda

A man with eight doctorate degrees met a monk. He was proud of his achievement. The monk asked him: "Why have you been so foolish in life?" The man said, "But… you don't understand! I have eight PhDs". The monk said: "I have understood you; it is foolish to spend the best part of life reading instead of enjoying the birds, the stars and the moon".

One may have all the knowledge but not clarity. One may know a lot and yet understand nothing. There is a difference between knowing and understanding.

Not knowing the difference between understanding and knowing leads to confusion. You have many centres: intellectual, emotional and physical. In each there is a mechanical and magnetic part. The mechanical part acts like a machine while the magnetic part acts with more awareness. You have to transform yourself. Your mechanical movements and thinking have to change. One's mechanical likes and dislikes have to change, too. Mechanical emotions like jealousy and hatred have to be transformed. You can do this by bringing in more awareness.

There is no greater force than awareness. When one increases awareness, even poison can turn into medicine and with no awareness a medicine can become poison. A king dreamt that he was a beggar. In his dream his guru told him the truth that he was a king and not a beggar. Now was he to argue with his guru or just wake up?

Bring in more awareness and see the transformation of life. Even inert objects have life. With loving awareness treat any object and it will guide you mysteriously. Your intuition and purity have to increase to receive this message.

What are the differences between a pair of eyes and a camera? If capturing an image is the purpose of the eyes, then a camera will do. Eyes are meant to see beyond forms, like a sculptor sees an idol in a stone. So too, eyes are meant to see the divine. A relationship is meant to see the truth.

There are differences in a relationship. Give importance to your love and commitment, to your commonality, enjoy your relationship. Keep yourself relaxed. Increase your awareness and love. Let there be choice. 'Should' creates stress and limits you to only one option. Choose not to judge. It is not a demand but a wise choice.

The danger of judgment is that you stop seeing the object of judgment and you are more in your judgment. In life, you have to make judgments, but don't be a victim of your judgments. Suppose, a thief enters your house, you have to judge him but then, be open to the possibility that he can change. Assume, you meet him after 10 years, see if he has changed or not. Do you still judge from the memory that he had been a thief? If you do not have this awareness, you will not see the change in a person even if he has changed.

Like you avoid poisonous food, avoid negative emotions. Like how you are very alert when you see a poisonous snake, be very aware and alert of negative emotions. Let them come, don't identify with them. Don't participate. They deplete your energy. They keep you asleep. They are harmful and heavy. They make your life complicated. We define our failure by somebody's success. We feel jealous seeing someone successful.

If you go on comparing, life becomes miserable. If somebody is better than you, learn from them; enjoy others' success. No one can have all good qualities. Someone will always be better than you at some level. Do not whip yourself with this comparison. Instead get inspired by someone's success. Even if you compete with others, enjoy it. See the beauty all around.

A small prayer

April 16, 2008 By: Category: Personal

Everything that has been going wrong in your life shall be gone at the end of the day tomorrow. You have been destined to make it and you shall surely will win the custody of your child when the judgement is delivered tomorrow. With this victory, all your agonies will be gone.  God has confirmed the end of your sufferings, sorrows, and pains because HE sitting on his throne surrounded by the seven hills called tirumala has remembered you. He will take away the hardships and give you JOY. He will never let you down. He never lets anyone down. So just believe in him and go confidently into the court.

ps This simple prayer is for a fellow blogger who is fighting for the custody of her child from her husband/inlaws and is awaiting the judgement tomorrow.

Time to move on

April 09, 2008 By: Category: ARTICLES

Continuing from where I left off in my previous blog “The past is gone”……..here is another article on the same subject…..how to let go of the past or something from the past.Hope the words in the article is beneficial to fellow bloggers who are still coping with something lost in the past.
I would like to thank my fellow bloggers for going through my previous blog and offering their comments.

TIME TO MOVE ON

Enoch Tan

There are times when what used to be a thriving business, environment or relationship is no longer as alive as before. You find that the people that are involved are starting to drift away as they lose interest in keeping it going.

Even you yourself find that your heart is no longer in it. Yet you still put energy into it because it will soon be gone if nobody tries to  preserve it. But what makes you think that God wants you to preserve it? Maybe he wants it to be destroyed, so that he can create something new.

You know what God wants you to do by the things he inspires you to create. There was something great that you were once inspired into creating. You have a lot of joy and fulfilment creating and experiencing it. But now you no longer feel the same way as before.

Try as you might, you just no longer feel the inspiration that was there. You think that since God had led you to create it in the first place, he must want you to continue doing it. You try to revive the passion but that seems to take a lot of energy.

The truth is that it was good for that moment, but a new moment has come and so it is time for a new thing. Something may have been great when it started and continued to be so for a certain period of time, but when the time comes where it seems to die out, it doesn't mean that it wasn't worth undertaking in the first place since it didn't last forever.

It was the perfect thing to do at the perfect time when it was inspired to be done. When it has finished serving its purpose, it is the perfect time for it to end.

Nothing really goes away completely, it merely changes form. The effect of a previous work or experience will continue to be part of a new work or experience. Had it not been done in the first place, it would not have existed to impact the new work in profound and significant ways.

There is nothing that is wasted or in vain. Any work that was done at a time when it was inspired to be created would have its place in influencing the universal scheme of things in eternity and everything else that is connected to it.

Since you know that God leads you by your heart's desire, why are you hanging on to the relationship or the work that your heart is no longer in? It is because you are afraid to lose what you have. The truth is you are not losing anything at all.

God wants you to move on to the next experience that will be even better than the one before. Let go of the relationship or business that you no longer desire to be a part of. Let go of the old to make way for the new. Learn to let go and you will always be abundant.

In every moment you are in, always allow yourself to be naturally driven in your actions. When you choose to be inspired or in spirit, you will always be guided as to when to do what. If you find yourself trying to keep something going when you are no longer inspired to do so, then you are trying to drive the process, rather than letting yourself be driven.

Whenever that happens, you know it's not going to work because it's not what God wants. Let things happen 'through you' rather than making things happen.

When you act according to what you are most inspired to do in every moment, you are also allowing things to happen in divine order. The ordinary order of things that the world has in mind is to follow through from one step to what is logically the next until completion.

But when you follow spirit instead of ordinary logic, people may think you are disorderly and not doing things properly. When you follow spirit, you are following a higher logic where things are done not in the usual form of order but in divine order.

Spirit may give you an idea to create a product and so you act on the inspired idea and finish creating the product. According to ordinary order of things, the next logical step is to market it and sell it to the world.

But if you are not inspired to do the next step because you feel like creating something else instead, then that's what spirit is guiding you towards. Spirit has guided you to create it for the moment and then to put it aside and do something else. It is probably not the right timing to release it yet.

Therefore by obeying spirit, you leave it on a shelf and go work on  something else. To the world, it may seem that you are leaving something half done which is not exactly the characteristic of someone who is successful.

But let some time go by, maybe even years later and then you are inspired to take the product you previously created and release it to the world. That is when it becomes a mega success because it was the right timing. That is how acting in divine order and timing produces the best results.

You could also have chosen to force yourself to follow through on the ordinary order of things even though you are not inspired to do so just because you think that is the way it has to be done.

But when you do it that way, you end up wondering why it turns out to be a flop and start to wonder whether you were really inspired to create it in the first place. Even when you are guided to release it at that time, the results may come much later in divine order and timing.

So trust and obey spirit in every moment. It will show you the path to happiness.

Past is Gone

April 06, 2008 By: Category: ARTICLES

In the last few months on the blogging world I have come across blogs where
1) friends who were just coming out of a relationship trying their best to make a new beginning;
2) friends were trying to cope with some tragedy in their life which had pushed them into a life which they had not envisaged earlier

They were trying to cope with the new change in their lives, unhappy with the turn of events in their life but making every effort within themselves to come out of this. I real appreciate their efforts and wish them the best for life ahead.

I came across a couple of good articles which I feel can be useful.

THE PAST IS GONE

If you feel remorseful about something you have said or done, you should
learn to forgive yourself

Jeff Maziarek

Stop for a moment right now and think of something that happened in your past that you still carry some regrets about. Perhaps it's a botched relationship, a job that you lost, a business that failed or a business you failed to start, an accident you either caused or one that affected you. You can also complete this exercise by thinking back to something pleasant that you experienced, such as falling in love, getting a promotion, or having a wonderful time on vacation.

Whether what you experienced was positive or negative, as you get in touch with that event or set of circumstances, realise that what you are doing in effect, is timetravelling within your own mind as you search through your bank of memories.

The truth is that the past is merely an illusion, as it is only what your mind is able to selectively remember. Moreover, the longer something remains in the mind, the more it changes and the less it reflects what may have actually occurred. The bottom line is that all you really have is your perception of what happened, and it is not necessarily clear, since the lens you are looking through may actually be clouded by the emotions associated with that memory.

In addition, as referenced above, your memories tend to change over time, and therefore may not accurately reflect your original perception. Despite this, the average person spends a great deal of time in this illusionary world of the past, either feeling guilty, regretful or angry, or reminiscing about the so called "good old days."

If you find yourself feeling remorseful about something you have said or done, or regretting something you feel you should have done, what you must do is learn to forgive yourself. By this i mean that you literally need to look at yourself in the mirror and say with conviction, "I forgive you for the mistake(s) you made, since i now know that you were simply doing the best that you were capable of doing at that time." It is likewise important for you to acknowledge that everything that ultimately did occur was a necessary part of your soul's growth.

What you also need to do when you are feeling guilty isn't necessarily to apologise to whoever you hurt or disappointed, but instead to acknowledge your commitment to never repeating the behaviour again. You shouldn't make an apology for something if you feel compelled, rather, it is more important to feel that you have actually learned from your mistake. If you feel angry about something that occurred to you in the past, stop and internally remind yourself that according to the principle of cause and effect it was you who initiated the cause, either consciously or unconsciously, that led to the effect that incited your anger. By adhering to this view you effectively prevent yourself from becoming a powerless victim of circumstances.

While it can be very challenging to adopt this perspective, once you do it becomes nearly impossible to get angry at anyone for more than just a brief moment. Instead, you learn to look for the deeper meaning or a lesson behind each of the troublesome situations that you encounter, and learn to silently honour those individuals who can 'pull your strings', for they are serving as valuable teachers. Moreover, make an effort to remember that these annoying individuals are providing you with valuable opportunities to practice  remaining centred in the midst of turmoil.

If you tend to reminisce about good times or relationships you have experienced in the past, you must understand that these types of thoughts also keep you from fully experiencing the present moment. Ideally, what you need to do is to develop the ability to completely experience whatever it is you're experiencing at any given time, and then leave it behind.

In fact, don”t carry over good experiences from the past either. Learn what it means to experience something fully, then drop it and move on to the next moment, uninfluenced by the previous one. You'd be travelling with such little baggage that you could pass through the eye of a needle. You'd know what eternal life is, because eternal life is now, in the timeless now.

Although this may seem like novel advice, it is quite practical, because many of us have a tendency to, as Henry David Thoreau once said, "loiter in winter when it is already spring." If you are a person that is inclined to focus on good times in the past, please understand that all you are doing by “time-travelling” in this way is wasting thought and feeling energy that could be used in far more constructive ways.

The past only has an impact on the present when you continue to waste your powerful thought and feeling energies on something that no longer exists at all, other than in your own mind. Whatever it was that happened is finished now, and no matter how uncomfortable it was for you, you need to come to the understanding that at some level you chose it, and that it helped to build your character and make you a stronger individual.

Whenever you do find yourself wondering why something turned out the way it did, i suggest calling to mind the old adage: 'God does work in mysterious ways'. The truth is, you really don't know the big picture. So, even though you might be inclined to feel sad about a certain event in your past, make the decision to accept the realisation that there is a higher order to things, and that something good will eventually come of it.

Before closing this article, i want to share with you a thought-provoking analogy i have heard Wayne Dyer uses often. The analogy is this: when you believe that the past has a significant, if not irreversible effect on your life today, it is just like saying that when a boat moves across the water, it is being propelled by the wake behind it.

Naturally this is ridiculous, because everyone knows that the wake is the result of the boat's forward movement through the water and nothing else. The reality is, your past doesn't drive your boat in the present moment, you do!
