Hi Ilanders
It was just six months back that I joined the blogging world and right away made a very good friend who encouraged me to be on the blogging world and keep sharing thoughts with fellow ilanders. As days went by and whenever i could take time out from my professional assignments, I stepped foot on ilands of fellow ilanders, started reading their blogs and became more interested in it.
But being a poor writer myself and new on this blogging, I just started sharing the thoughts and mails I received from friends with you fellow ilanders on rediffland. As time progressed, I started meeting new people over here and just a few days back crossed the 100 mark which I had never expected when I joined the iland.
In short it has been a wonderful experience to be on rediffland, reading the blogs of fellow ilanders - some poetry - some interesting experiences of fellow ilander (three musketeers was one of the best) - some articles on current interest (the one by Sunshine on the current economic scenario was really good) - some pictorial blogs - some music ones - few humourous ones (modi one was really good).
But the surprising thing that happened to me was the occassion when my blog appeared on the homepage of rediff within a short time of my being on the iland. In recent times, I was surprised when somebody told me that my blog being on the homepage of rediffland. But more things were in store and that was - most of my posts were read by fellow ilanders and the comments given by them really overhelmed me.
But there was a dark spot also - I had visited the iland of a fellow ilander but didnt leave a comment - she sent me a GB entry expressing disappointment over my not leaving a comment on her iland. I left a message saying that I was tied up in my work, could not go through her blogs and leave a comment. I told her I will surely go through when I get time. But two days later I came to know that she was no more and that communication with me was one of her last few conversations with fellow ilanders before she went into hospital. This really was a very dark moment of my stay in iland. That really made me wonder as to why we are so busy, that we could not spare few mins of our life to share with our near and dear ones including friends.
This was the thought that came to my mind at that time
There isn't much better in this life than finding a way to spend a few hours in conversation with people you respect and love. You have to carve this time out of your life because you aren't really living without it.
In short it has been a wonderful experience for me on rediffland in the last six months. I take this opportunity on the last day of the year to thank all my fellow ilanders for visiting my iland, going through my blogs and sharing their valuable comments with me. I would also like to thank the fellow ilander who encouraged me to write this blog today.
THANKS ILANDERS. HOPE I RECEIVE THE SAME ENCOURAGEMENT IN 2008 ALSO, FROM YOU ALL.
Before ending this blog I just wanna share this thought -
Give away smiles,
and watch them come back to you
a hundred times over.
Stuff your pockets with kindness and optimism;
there is nothing more precious in the world.
I’m sharing this advice with you today
because you are an important piece
in the puzzle of my life.
