PEACE

August 26, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

A cute little poem on PEACE which we are missing in today’s hectic lifestyle. Be at peace like the cute little kid. Have an enjoyable day.

Peace is our true nature,

let our everyday life be the song
from our souls to the whole world
as a gift of Love!
May we forgive the trespasses,
the pains and hurts,
the cruelty, the unkindness
done upon us or done by us,
and let harmony flow
from the river of tolerance,
brotherhood and service
into the ocean of compassion,
Loving kindness from
our noble hearts…

HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAMS

August 17, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

a reflective thought which i came across in my group mails. Corelates to my earlier one on don’t quit. Just follow your dreams. have a wonderful week.

There is inside you

All of the potential
to be whatever you want to be;
All of the energy
to do whatever you want to do.

Imagine yourself as you would like to be,
doing what you want to do,
and each day, take one step
towards your dream.

And though at times it may seem

too difficult to continue,
hold on to your dream.

One morning you will awake to find
that you are the person you dreamed of,
doing what you wanted to do,
simply because you had the courage
to believe in your potential
and to hold on to your dream.

WHY PEOPLE SHOUT WHEN THEY ARE ANGRY

August 17, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

Sharing a wonderful conversation which I got on my bulletin board yesterday. I was in the mood which the conversation relates to.

A saint asked his disciples, ‘Why do we shout in anger?
Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?’

Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, ‘Because we lose our calm, we shout for that.’

‘But, why to shout when the other person is just next to you?’ asked the saint.
‘Isn’t it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice?
Why do you shout at a person when you’re angry?’

Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the saint.

Finally he explained, ‘When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other through that great distance.’

Then the saint asked, ‘What happens when two people fall in love? They don’t shout at each other but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small…’

The saint continued, ‘When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that’s all.

That is how close two people are when they love each other.’

VALUE IN GIVING

August 11, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

There have been times when the kindness of

another person has changed your life for the better.

And it’s easy to see that kindness has

the power to reach far beyond itself.

In the most difficult of moments, kindness heals and reassures.

Kindnesses give comfort and hope where there was none before.

Kindness can inspire confidence.

It changes for the better the perspective of those it touches.
When you seek to make a difference,

kindness is a great Place to start.

Just the simple desire to give it is all you really must have.

So give kindness, freely and without hesitation.

Whether you get it back does not really even matter,

for its true value is in the giving.

Live with kindness, and you’ll always see

life’s very best possibilities.

For in kindness, is the heart of who you truly are.

REFLECTION - GRATITUDE

August 10, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

HiAfter a long hiatus from the iland, I am putting up a post at the behest of one of the few ilanders who has been in receipt of my posts through mail during my absence from iland. The ilander felt that I was depriving the other ilanders of the thoughts I have been sharing through mail. So here I am posting an article which I shared today. May not be regular over here but will keep posting once in a while.

Be the change you wish to see in the world…

Gratitude is contagious - you can catch it from other people and/or they can catch it from you. But you don’t spread gratitude by preaching or scolding or admonishing - you spread it by living it. For, as Gandhi wisely said,

“We must BE the change we wish to see in the world.”

A simple story illustrates my point:

According to legend, a young man, while roaming the desert, came across a
spring of delicious crystal-clear water. The water was so sweet he filled his
leather canteen so he could bring some back to a tribal elder who had been his teacher.

After a four-day journey he presented the water to the old man who
took a deep drink, smiled warmly and thanked his student lavishly for the sweet water. The young man returned to his village with a happy heart. Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out, saying it was awful. It apparently had become stale because of the old leather container. The student challenged his teacher:

“Master, the water was foul. Why did you pretend to like it?”

The teacher replied,

“You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift”

The water was simply the container for an act of loving-kindness and nothing could be sweeter. Heartfelt gifts deserve the return gift of gratitude.

You teach gratitude to others by living it - every moment, every hour, every day. Others will see the happiness that gratitude brings, and soon, they, too will be grateful. And before you know it, you have started an epidemic of gratitude ' what could be more wonderful!

This is to reinforce and teach the power and magic of gratitude. To some, it may sound too simple to feel important, but if you can truly grasp this
powerful concept, it will change your life forever.

German poet, Johannes A. Gaertner said this:

“To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is
generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch heaven”

THE WINDOW

March 23, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

A good reflective thought that came in my mail from a colleague. Will be a hectic week ahead….so may not be able to blog daily or visit other blogs to read them, but will try to. Have a wonderful week ahead. God bless you. btw the photo enclosed is a painting that I received in the mail.

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hang the wash outside.

That laundry is not very clean, she said, she doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.

Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: "Look! She has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this."

The husband said: "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows!"

And so it is with life: "What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look. Before we give any criticism, it might be a good idea to check our state of mind and ask ourselves if we are ready to see the good rather than to be looking for something in the person we are about to judge. "

And oh yes! I almost forgot .I see you today much clearer than I did yesterday And you?

BEYOND DISSATISFACTION

March 20, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

Beyond dissatisfaction

Things will begin to get better when you define precisely what better means to you. The pains and frustrations will start to ease when you have something solid and positive with which to replace them. To successfully move away from an undesirable situation, decide exactly where you wish to go. Create a powerful intention for yourself, and feed that intention with the energy that’s in your desire for change.

It is not enough to complain about how things are. That can get the ball rolling, and yet it won’t take you very far. Move quickly to create a vision of how the world can be. Give yourself a compelling goal to move toward.

Enthusiasm is a key ingredient of success. And you’ll always have a more productive kind of enthusiasm when you’re focused on a positive future. Go beyond your dissatisfaction with what is, and put your energy into imagining the best of what can be. Clearly know where you wish to go, and you’ll naturally make the effort that gets you there.

HELP

March 19, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

A reflective thought which I hope which you follow in your LIFE as " the beauty of life is not how happy you are, but how happy others can be because of you" or this thought unravels

Life laughs at you when you are unhappy

Life smiles at you when you are happy

LIfe salutes you when you make others happy

Have a wonderful fun filled day.

HELP

Do you help others succeed? You should.
Similar in many respects to the law of attraction, when you help bring success upon those around you, you welcome it upon yourself. This makes perfect sense.

First, whenever you partake in success, you are honing the skills that make you successful.

Second, when people around you are successful, they are in a better position to help you succeed.

Third, when you help others succeed, those successful people will want to return the favour.

Fourth, and most importantly, there is nothing that builds confidence in a person than having helped someone else.

We are meant to share. We are meant to help each other.

This is more than just a matter of moral prerogative;
this an access point to your own happiness and fulfillment

EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES

March 18, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

Explore the possibilities

From the questions that have answers there is much you can learn. And from those questions that have no answers you can learn even more.

For the questions that have no answers put you into the realm of possibilities. Those possibilities will take you as far as you dare to go.

Whole new worlds are there to be created when you set out to explore the possibilities. By opening yourself to new possibilities, you’re able to escape old limitations.

There is never any reason to remain stuck in an undesirable situation. For there are always possibilities waiting to lead you to a better place.

Just beneath the surface of what is, you’ll find a universe of possibilities for what can be.

Look beyond the concerns of the moment, and dare to imagine the best life you can envision. Being fully alive means being open to the countless possibilities that grow more abundant with each passing moment.
Among all those possibilities are the ones that will take you exactly where you wish to go.

NOW IS THE TIME

March 17, 2009 By: Category: Reflections

Another reflective thought received from my friend. I have been successful in implementing it and thought will pass it on to you so that you can also benefit from following what the thought advocates.

Have a wonderful fun filled day and keep smiling

Now is the time

It’s time to get busy. It’s time to make a difference, and just think of how great that will feel. This day is a golden opportunity to bring your dreams to life. You’re in a position to have a positive impact on your world.

Instead of complaining about what’s wrong, build upon what is right. Instead of arguing over who is to blame,
figure out what you can do to make things better.

There are ideas you’ve been meaning to pursue. Now is the time to get started on them. There are projects you’ve needed to finish. Now is your chance to bring those achievements to fruition. Give the gift of your own smart, focused, enthusiastic action to the world today. There’s immense value just waiting to be created, and now is the time to make it happen.
