GOOD MORNING

March 27, 2009 By: Category: Wishes

Every single evening
As I’m lying here in bed,

This tiny little Prayer

Keeps running through my head:

God bless all my family

Wherever they may be,

Keep them warm

and safe from harm

For they’re so close to me.

And God, there is one more thing

I wish that you could do;

Hope you don’t mind me asking,

Please bless my computer too.

Now I know that it’s unusual

To Bless a motherboard,

Please listen just a second

While I explain it to you, Lord.

You see, that little metal box

Holds more than odds and ends;

Inside those small compartments

Rest so many of my friends.

I know so much about them

By the kindness that they give,

And this little scrap of metal

Takes me in to where they live.

I don’t get to see some of them

As much as I’d really like to.

We share in what life brings us

And from that our friendships grew.

Please take an extra minute

From your duties up above,

To bless those in my address book

That’s filled with so much love.

Wherever else this prayer may reach

To each and every friend,

Bless each e-mail inbox

And each person who hits “send”

Happy Gudi Padva to all. Have a nice weekend ..the last weekend of this financial year.

     This is Young girls Happy Festival

S A N K R A N T I

Makara means Capricorn and Sankranti is transition. There is a sankranti every month when the sun passes from one sign of the zodiac to the next. There are twelve signs of the zodiac, and thus there are twelve sankranti’s as well. Each of these sankranti’s has its own relative importance but two of these are more important - the Mesh(Aries) Sankranti and the most important, the Makar(Capricorn) Sankranti. Transition of the Sun from Sagittarius to Capricorn, during the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere is known as Makar Sankranti. From this day begins the six-month long Uttarayana, considered very auspicious for attaining higher worlds hereafter.

Traditionally, this period is considered an auspicious time and the veteran Bhishma of Mahabharata chose to die during this period. Bhishma fell to the arrows of Arjuna. With his boon to choose the time of his death, he waited on a bed of arrows to depart from this world only during this period. It is believed that those who die in this period have no rebirth.

The Puranas say that on this day Sun visits the house of his son Shani, who is the swami of Makar Rashi. These father & son do not ordinarily get along nicely, but inspite of any difference between each other Lord Sun makes it a point to meet each other on this day.

From Uttarayana starts the ‘day’ of Devatas, while dakshinayana is said to be the ‘night’ of devatas, so most of the auspicious things are done during this time.

It was on this day when Lord Vishnu ended the ever increasing terrorism of the Asuras by finishing them off and burying their heads under the Mandar Parvat.

The great savior of his ancestors, Maharaj Bhagirath, did great Tapasya to bring Gangaji River down on the earth for the redemption of 60,000 sons of Maharaj Sagar, who were burnt to ashes at theKapil Muni Ashram, near the present day Ganga Sagar. It was on this day that Bhagirath finally did tarpan with the Ganges water for his unfortunate ancestors and thereby liberated them from the curse.

Makar Sankranti is celebrated throughout India as a harvest festival or the Festival of the Farmers.
It is a way of giving thanks to the elements of nature that help man. This is the period when the winter recedes, paving the way for the summer. It is the time the farmers bring home their harvest. In the coastal regions, it is a harvest festival dedicated to Indra.

It is also a very important festivals for the Unmarried young girls to be blessed with good husbands, and for the married women to livelong happily with their husbands and children as ther fortune in safety and prosperity.

In North India, a ritual bath in the river is important on this day.Khichiri is eaten and given away as charity, and People also distribute rice and lentils to the poor and needy. In Maharashtra, a special dish called tilgul, or laddoos made of jaggery and Sesame seed, the chief crop of the season, is popular.In Gujrat it is celebrated as the Kite flying day .

Call it Lohri, Pongal or Sankranti, the festival conveys the same message
 The bond of brotherhood and the spirit of oneness should prevail despite all odds.
Let the Persons, Places and Things prosper every where with fortunes.
Let every where and on every face the Smiles of Happiness and Cheers sparkle
This is one particular festival goes mostly in jumping with joy,
mixing up with friends and relatives enjoying fun and games like flying the kites,
Playing Hide and seek, Chess, Cards and Outdoor games
.

VAIKUNTA EKADASI

January 07, 2009 By: Category: Wishes

Today is Vaikunta Ekadasi day, an auspicious day in the Hindu Calendar. Having darshan of Lord Vishnu early in the morning as the doors of Vaikuntum (abode of Lord Vishnu) open is considered very auspicious by Hindu’s. Heavy rush would be there at all Balaji Temples around the country. As I am writing this, live telecast is being shown from the famous Ranganathar temple in Srirangam, Parthasarathy temple in Chennai and from Tirupati. The Vaikuntum are set to open in Tirupati around 5. Even I was to go the Balaji Temple at Thakurdwar in Mumbai, but due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to go.

The doors just opened at tirupati and having darshan of Lord, sitting at home is a feeling which cannot be expressed in words. The bells ringing, the slokhas being recited by the pundits and the continous aarti is a sight to behold.

Wish you all a wonderful day and successful year ahead. Here are the Lord’s blessings for all of you. Just have faith in HIM and he will take care of you.

Here are a few thoughts which are not from my collection but written by me over the last few days of the month gone by, in response to some exchange of msgs on my mobile with a friend of mine.

Learn to love oneself;
Learn to hate oneself;
Learn to love silence;
Learn to enjoy happiness;
Learn to respect;
Learn to let go;
Learn to endure pain;
Learn to give;
Keep Learning during the year and enrich your knowledge.

I may be older than U;
I may be wiser than U;
I may be taller than U;
I may be heavier in build than U;
I may be richer than U;
I may be powerful than U;
I may be religious than U;
I may be far away from U;
but when it comes to taking a walk together, I will always walk alongside you, neither one step ahead nor one step behind.

I don’t leave anyone or hate anyone but fall in love with everyone.
I date my love but not hate my love;
I rave about my love, but not leave my love;
I hold the hand of my love, but not cold shoulder my love;
I lend my shoulder to my love, but bend the shoulder of my love;
In short love is for living not leaving.

Life is short but a smile takes barely a second.

Every tear has a smile behind it.

A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

A good neighbor is a fellow who smiles at you over the back fence, but doesn’t climb over it.

If you see a friend without a smile; give him one of yours..

A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes, A chuckle comes from the belly; But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around

Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful.

Too often we underestimate the power of a smile, which have the potential to turn a life around.

Smiles are the language of love.

The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection.

A smile is an inexpensive way to change your looks

All people smile in the same language.

Children smile on the average
400 times /day; Adults: 15 times /day. Ever wonder why?

A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.

If I thought that a smile of mine, might linger the whole day through and lighten some heart with a heavier part, I’d not withhold it — Would you? ??

Smile becoz God gave Human this beautiful gift - A Smile….I sometimes wonder do animals have this beautiful gift of smiling???

Smile, not becoz it costs you or not, but because you can make someone smile and make their day

So Smileeeeeee please :-)) …… Hmmm… Good, looks very good, infact suits you the best :-)

Have a Great Day!!!

and

Wonderful week too

 A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.

“Recipient’s Name”- Friend,
I took a cup of friendship
And added in the mix
All the sunshine that you sent
And problems that you fixed

I took our joy and laughter
And blended it right in
Then I took a cup of love
And filled it to the brim

I mixed the batter gladly
With loving and with care
Added some heat to make it rise
Baked a friendship cake to share

So eat it up, we’ll always be
Friends throughout eternity

Your BEST FRIEND
