The man formerly known as the showman (he was stripped of his title after producing turkeys such as Yaadein, Kisna, Bombay to Bangkok, Black and White) is all set to release his magnum opus (well it does have a few big stars ' Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif) Yuvvraaj. One question if u are confident of your talent and your stars why the hell do you do this weird numerology thing? How the hell does one account for a spelling like Yuvvraaj. An extra V and an extra A. The V is guess would be for Victory (Vijay-bhava J ) but what is the A for? (****hole???)
Anyway, Subhash Ghai has had a horrible run at the BO and even movies he is involved with like Black and White and Bombay to Bangkok have bombed though one of them got critical acclaim (no no not Bombay to Bangkok, Nagesh, I meant Black and White). According to me Indian directors and artisted in general do not grow ' they stagnate. They don't read more, travel or study ' people, cultures, systems, countries ' they simply replicate the movies they make and end up getting a couple of successes and then when the audiences start getting tired of them their flops begin to pile up. Eventually after an eternity the financiers back out and they are left jobless.
In case of Subhash Ghai ' he is a big daddy and so had lots of moolah stashed away from his successful years ' the list is long ' Vishwanath, Karz, Karma, Sudagar (yeeeks), Ram Lakhan and finally Pardes. So he manages to keep funding his next misadventure. If he was only dependant of financiers ' he would be jobless ages ago.
Now lets see if he has done nay better with Yuvvraaj or will this be his death wish.

Preity Zinta will be seen again as a Punjaban in the soon to be released movie ' Hero's. She earlier played a Pakistani Punjabi in Veer Zaara and again a half Punju-Christian in Kal Ho Na Ho. Both were block busters, so she will be keeping her fingers crossed that even this one, does well. It has been some time and several months since she has been seen in a Bollywood hit movie and she will be keen to make amends.
Though Preity is from the north she isn't a Punjabi ' though people assume that she is a Himachal ki ladki so she must be a Punju. She calls herself a Rajput ' so I am not sure what that means ' Assume a Pahadi girl whose community is Rajput. But yes, she isn't Punjabi ' that is quite confirmed.
Anyway, she claimed that she enjoyed playing Salman's husband in the Heroes film. I hope that is the only place we see Salman married - I wouldn't want to see a good girl's life messed up by this moron / brute. Knowing his temperament and his temper, and the various violent incidents we have seen him get into due to his scraps with women, it makes sense that he remains a bachelor boy.
Anyway, lets see how this movie is received by the audiences- it is looking good and the concept is a bit different (copied from a Hollywood movie I guess). The theme is patriotic and there are big stars should do well therefore.

Yes, I wrote the name correctly - it is Saina and not Saina - the name that is splashed all around the media - TV, Press and the Internet. The Sania we know is Sania Mirza is a popular tennis player, but I feel that she has been given way too much importance due to her looks and sex appeal. it has been years since she has achieved any significant win, never mind tournament or ATP title.
While on the other hand the lesser known and less favored (by media, people, sports fans) are trying manfully to achieve success in their field and Saina Nehwal is one the the torch bearers. This immensely gifted badminton player is doing a great job in leading the way for lady players especially after Aparna Popat achieved great success in this sport.
She had done very well in the Olympics and reached the quarter final beating higher ranked players in the bargain and has done well in the Grand Prix tournaments. Other players also have emerged in badminton like Chetan Anand and his wife Jwala Gutta has won two tournamnets in a row with a double win in the last tournament in the mixed doubles and ladies doubles. Chetan too last won a European Grand Prix. This entire week has seen great success for Indian sports. Check out the accompanying picture and article of Saina Nehwal - you will be seeing a lot more of her in the media.

The super star Big B’s situation is getting better and the good news is thet he will be allowed to go home soon.
They said that Mr. Bachchan is under treatment and medicines are being given to him to keep him from relapsing into the pain he had earlier. They confirmed that he discharged in two to three days. This was informed by the VP of Lilavati hospital - Dr Naredra Trivedi.
The mega-star was getting along well and there were no serious complications in the test results. This should dispel the rumours that were circulationg that his health has been getting worse.
The sixt six year old legend was admitted to Bandra’s Lilavati hospital on Oct 11th, which was also his birthday. He had complained of restlessness and abdominal pain.

If the celebratory party held for the success of Hello is to be belived then it can be said Sohail Khan brother of star - Salman Khan has finally broken the jinx surrounding him and has registred a hit. Though the reviews of Hello were not all that good - it had managed to get a good start and that helps a lot - plus a lot of young stars. The look and feel of the youth brigade must have helped with the film dealing with the lives of call center.
The movie had good performances by Sharman and Sohail and an item no by Sall miya himself. Katrina also featured in it, playing an angel in it.
Sohail will also be more confident about his next project - the Heroes film which is releasing on Oct 24th. With Bollywood experiencing tough times it will be great if this movie does well.
One good fallout of this is that it will encourage movie makers to pick up original scripts instead of ripping of Hollywood DVDs. This movie is based on the book called One Night at a call center and thus means Bollywood is getting more professional.

The Bubbly Zinta just had a bad outing the last time she featured in a Bollywood movie - that is if you could call “The Last Lear” a Bollywood movie. I really don’t like these Hindi movies which have large snatches of conversation in English. I mean who would understand all the English dialogues in the hinterland? Aren’t you supposed to reach the masses and if not the masses the classes. If you are reaching for the classes then make it a multiplex movie - like a movie only for the cities.
The movie was too exotic and found very few takers though the media (manipulated) went to twon about it being the best performance by Amitabh Bachchan. Arjun and Preity were appreciated too, but it still bombed. But I must say Preity looked very sexy in teh few still i saw of her. With the red Bindi and whiye saree, she looked like a hot Bong beauty. We may have enough of them in the Industry but she makes a welcome addition.
Check out this photo i saw on rediff- from some live show i think. her next movie is the film Heroes which has her opposite her the infamous Salman Khan. The cast is quite large and also has Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Mithun Chakraborty, Vatsal Sheth, Dino Morea, Sohail Khan, Riya Sen. Lets see if thismovie gets her back in the running.

Aamir and SRK have taken their battle to new grounds for the title of mega star. While a few miontsh ago we were bombarded by ads featuring SRK promoting Dish TV, we now see ads showing Aamir doing a Mrs. Doubtfire. Infact the ad is great considering he plays two characters - a husband and wife together. It seems to be a great gimmick to imprint the product in the psyche of the viewers and show case Aamir obvious acting skills. Though he look smanly as the Punjabi wife, he does carry it odd well - accent and all.
It also reminded me of an ad he did years ago for Coco cola -w here he played a bustling Punjabi farmer. The mannerisms and accent were mind blowing as were the sneering look of lust he gave towards the girls. There is no doubt that when it comes to performing Aamir goes all out.
While SRK uses his looks for instant connect, Aamir doesn’t mind going in for drastic personality changes to make the advertisement happen. Who wins this contest? Aamir!!! By many a mile.

Inspite of lukewarm reviews it seems that the film Hello has opened well. Rediff which has given a sad two star rating the movie has posted a BO verdict of - Opened well. Of course this may not mean anything as it could simply plummet in the following days.
Rediff says that “Hello” has had a good start, though BO collections dropped a little on the weekend, Sunday’s collections were pretty decent. The reason it may eventaully do well is its low costing. Since it really didn’t have any big stars in it, (Sallu was an item boy) it was sold at a reasonable amount to the distributors and so may end up earning some money for them.
All in all a good result for Atul Agnihotri - Salman’s Bro-in-law. The films also stars Sohail, Sharman Joshi who have received praise from the critics and Gul Panag, Amrita Arora, Isha Koppikar.
Katrina also plays a smallish cameo as an angel in the movie. So it willl be music to Salman’s ears as he has some success to show for in this year. His heroes film is releasing soon and he would require some good results behind him to ensure this big budget movie does well. It also stars Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Mithun Chakraborty, Preity Zinta, Vatsal Sheth, Dino Morea, Sohail Khan, Riya Sen. Heres to the patriotic fillum doing well!!!!

Yesterdays latest release Hello has met an indifferent response from the critics - a bit unfortunate as it was adapted from a best selling novel by Chetan Bhagat. It would have been great if it did well as it would have encouraged film makers to go for original stories and pay up for them. And if they do get inspired then they should acknowledge the source and pay a royalty or something.
But with this movie receiving negative reviews it will mean bad news for some original stories and a good payment for writers. Yes, somemovies do well inspite of bad reviews but the reviews seem to suggest that it is a boring and not too well made film. Only Sharman and Sohail (surprise…surprise) have acted well.
The makers tried to use Salman’s name to sell the movie but he has a very small role. he is the sutradhar or narrator who introduces the cast and gets the plot moving. And they have jabardasti ghusaoed a item number to pep up the movie. Maybe Salman’s magic will eventually sell the movie and it will give a much needed hit to the starlets who need it badly - Amrita Arora, Gul Panag, Sohail Khan, Isha Koppikar. I won’t call Sharman a starlet as he is an established actor and has proved in in several movies.
After this comes another Salman starrer which begins with H.The Heroes film may be a better bet as its story seems a bit unique and has a good look and feel to it. And it has the P factor - the Patriotic factor - this helps many an average movie to do well at the BO.

The inheritor of the Punjab territories rule ' Sunny Deol is not faring all that well in Bollywood right now. Who would have thought that the career of the person who re-wrote BO records with his Gadar would be in such a sorry state of affairs. He was the first person to play a Sradarji andget away with a hit ' and not just any hit ' a blockbuster that challenged Sholay and other BO towering films.
Then he went pale, doing really crappy films that simply were a reason to punch up a dozen bad men at a time. The stories weren't good, the production expensive yet pointless, and generally indulged in Paki bashing. They did well in Punjab and a few of the northern territories but they tanked in the rest of India and not much business overseas which has become the cash cow for today's movies.
That's why Sunny has a chance for redemption with Heroes film releasing soon. Though it is an eclectic bunch of actors the movie seems fresh and may actually work. It also has the 'masses' star the so-called Superstar Salman Khan. And Preity Zinta opposite him! That along with the strong focus on patriotism should help it do well and perhaps give Sunny a much desired break.
