The next multi-starrer is on its way. Heroes is another of those starcasts taht is groaning under the weight of its big ego stars. Many of them have passed their sell by date, but are making another stab at it. The movie has Salman Khan, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Mithun Chakraborty, Preity Zinta, Vatsal Sheth, Dino Morea, Sohail Khan, Riya Sen in it and I wonder how much poor Miss Sen will be seen in the eventual movie.
Though I find her really very sexy, she hasn’t really proven her acting spurs so far. She coems across as teh classical bimbette. ANd looks like she doesn’t want to change too. her dialogue delivery is also amateurish. So what should we do? Ogle at her luscious body (she has put on considerable weight - but it stil looks good) - don’t expect any great acting performance from her. Heh eheheheh

Minissha Lamba who has debutted in a movie Yahaan with Jimmy Shergill was expecetd to do well, but the movie flopped and as it happens with newcomers, her roller coaster ride ground to a halt. She then did smaller roles (Corporate, Heyy Babyy, Dus Kahaniyaan) and was barely noticed till Bachna Ae Haseenon came along. This was her chance for redemption and getting back in the big league.
And as she must have fervently prayed the movie after good reports and great publicity, has opened well and people are alreday declaring it a hit for the beleagured Yashraj camp. Though I did read that her role was the smallest and most ill defined, the importanr thing especially in Bollywood is to get a nice juicy hit under your belt. All due to the superstitious ways of the Industry. If u do not get the first hit, a lot of directors and producers will not touch you with a barge pole. And when you do, you are the next big thing.
Thats why it is important to register that maiden hit that is acknowledged by teh whole Industry. And look slike Bachna Ae Haseenon will do that for her. Minissha Lamba is a very pretty girl, amazingly beautiful eyes and has the sought after peaches and cream complexion thanks to her Northern/Punjabi roots (she was born in Kashmir). And so she will do well in the cute, sweet roles. In fact she is already being called the next Preity Zinta or proped as the one to take over that slot. Best of luck in her new lease of life.

Yeah, this post is not about movies. But what to do? Such a momentous acievement by one of our own.
The current hero and whose name is on every ones lips - Abhinav Bindra returned home on Thursday to a tumultuous welcome.
Our countries first individual Olympic gold medallist was a jubilant figure and he termed his feat as a “dream fulfilled”.
Abhinav snagged the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the Beijing Olympics. He was received at the airport by his father Dr. A S Bindra, mother Babli Kaur and sister Divya Bindra Kapur. There were also a large number of sports enthusiasts and several members of Indian Olympic Association and National Rifle Association of India.
I hope he maintains this winning streak so we can be assured of a few more medals at the Olympics. I know it will be difficult to repeat the feat, in fact I would say it would be next to impossible to get a gold again. It is a matter of a few cms here and there. But he can definitely land a medal again, as he is a world class shooter.
Best of luck to the dude. And THANKS!

Well if you stuff three very attractive women in one single movie it is bound to be very easy on the eyes. And of the three, you may be surprised Minissha is my favorite. I had first seen her in Yahan. And she looked gorgeous. But unfortunately the move didn't work. She was later seen in a horribly inconsequential role in Corporate. It really didn't do much for her career. Even her love interest (or shud we say fling interest as the film footage was so less??), Sameer Dattani also had the same amount of footage.
Luckily she has now come in this big banner movie and by the look's of it, she does seem to have more screen time - along with a single romantic track with Ranbir and one common title track. She is a trifle short but gorgeous face and great complexion. Funny that a Punju/North Indian girl is short and dainty while a South Indian one (Deepika Padukone) is tall and athletic.
The next hottie is obviously Deepika Padukone and quite attractive by any standards. I had seen her in a softdrink ad (Limca) and had mentioned she would make it big. I think I should have been a talent scout. Heh heh hehheh
Finally the bong babe, Bipasha Basu. I was never fond of her initially- in fact her sex appeal and blatant appearance put me off. But some how recently she has made an entry in my erotic women's list. I think the "Bidi Jalaile " number also helped significantly. And the fact how she almost dumped./ignored boyfriend John Abraham when he philandered. Made my respect for her go up in leaps and bounds. And she is a dusky beauty. I always have liked the dusky sexy girls.
So all in all, it should be a glamorous movie to watch.

For people scratching their heads at the story/synopsis that has been dished out so far for the Abhishek Bachchan-Priyanka super hero movie, here is some relief. I have got an updated story from the official website and have diligently copied it for you.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The warrior ' Drona. The man who shall protect the never-ending sequence of life and death.
At a remote distant location, there was a youth called Aditya. Brought up by a foster family, Aditya was ignorant of his true identity and the fate that was scheduled for him. Ever since he was an infant, a frequent nightmare disturbed him. And when he woke up in panic, there was no one to comfort him except for a miraculous blue rose petal that came wafting in the breeze, always making him smile through his tears.
In another place very distant from where Aditya was growing up, a wicked magician, Riz Raizada, a successor to the asuras (mythical demons) has become precariously intolerant, in his craving for the valued secret. The secret, which was the final link, in his magnificent and convoluted scheme of taking over the world. But to achieve this, he’d have to overwhelm Aditya. And this was his biggest predicament. He didn’t know who or where he was!
One momentous day Aditya & Riz came face to face and Riz immediately realizes this is the man he was searching for. Aditya’s providence had caught up with him and his life was about to take him on an expedition he had never imagined .
Get the rest of the story from the official website. Ciao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Balaji is all set to release its next offering in Bollywood - C Kkompany. It features their lucky (or permanent or unlucky) mascot Tushar Kapoor. Also starring are Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav and Mithun Chakraborty.
Tushar has not had a hit film to his credit for quite some time now and if my memory serves me right his last hit film was Kya Kool Hain Hum. He also had a Khaki before that, but otherwise his track record is dismal. One has to go back in time to his debut “Mujhe Kuch kehna Hain” to check his other hit film.
With all the backing, money power and Industry support it is an embarrasing track record. Especially for the son of Jeetendra who had a string of hits during his good days.

Bollywood is a formula repeating industry and it doesn’t generally go outside of the narrow and defined path. They never think out of the box. If you look at world cinema some of the most repressed and war torn countries have come out with outstanding movies - Iran, Yugoslavia, Poland, and even Pakistan. But we are stuck witht he usual song and dance routine.
The song and dance was fine when we started in the early part of last century and it was primarily used to entertain new audiences and it made sense as it was easier to convey a message with a long of dramatics. But as other cinema’s progressed we remained in teh 1940’s and continued using songs and dances to convey emotions and feelings. It is also a unique and distinctive asset but we shud also innovatie - especally as cinema is a medium to tell a story.
Abraod animation has reached amazing levels with it spawing an entire industry in itself and the super hero segment is also very popular with every year some masked crusader throwing his hat in the ring. Bollywood has only a Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish and perhaps a Shahenshah to show for its efforts. It helped that Krrish did well and it assured producers if the movie is well made it can do well.
Next on the anvil is the super hero seeped in mythology, the film Drona. The story strongly reminds me as a mish mash of Da Vinci code and Mummy, with Priyanka playing the head of a cult that protects the main character Abhishek from his enemies.

Dronna is a big moment for several of its key players. For director Goldie Behl, it is his first big directorial venture. The success or failure of this project will decide if he can step onto the big stage and foloow the footsteps of his elders.
Abhishek Bachchan also is banking on Drona film to keep his nose ahead othe competition. Shahid from the younger batch is growing in stature and the older brat pack (SRK, Salman, Aamir, Akshay) doesn’t seem to be giving up their hold on the upper slots.
So the middle generation like Abhishek, Viveik, And Bobby (where has he disappeared??) need to clench their feet and dig in for a real good slug fest. Else they wil be redundant in Bollywood.
Then there is Priyanka Chopra who is smarting from the drubbing her Love story 2050 received at the BO. She needs a nice big hit to cement her current good ranking in Bollywood. And this film is just the right vehicle for her.
So all in all this is a very big film set on a bigger canvas.

The next movie the Junior B should be counting on is Drona. A biggie for several reasons. The budget, the effort that has gone into it and the people invloved. His own mother makes an appearance and family friends the Behls are producing it. Add Priyanka Chopra to the cast and we have an exciting product on hand.
Drona film is seeped in mythology, with tons of special effects. In fact it is reported that the percentage of special effects used in this movie far surpasses other special effects movies.
The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon and Jaya Bachchan, is directed by Goldie Behl and produced by Shrishti Arya and Sunil Lulla. Abhishek needs this film to do well desperately as the competition is getting tougher with new kids appearing on the block. He needs a nice juicy hit to stay ahead of the pack and this flick has just the right ingredients to do so.

A movie that has no big stars featuring is Haal-E-Dil. In fact all its principal lead stars are debutants. They are Amita Mangat, Nakuul Mehta and Adhyayan Suman. While Amita Mangat is producer Kumar Mangat’s daughter, Adhyayan Suman is TV stars Shekhar Suman’s son. So perhaps we will finally get to see Shekhar acting his age, now that his son has grown up. And also perhaps rein in his raging hormones which were the reason that he was out painting the town red in his younger days.
The third guy is some what of an unknown entity. He is just about okay in the looks department- in fact a bit small in built. Reminds me of Shahid in his initial days or Vatsal Sheth f Tarzan fame. But Shahid has done well after working out and is now a big star in Bollywood, so there is hope for this young man.
Out of the three I find Adhyayan the best looker, even thought he isn’t the usual chocolate hero. He does have a mature and rugged look about him. But we all know it is eventaully the talent that will see him through.
