Oh see the rain fall…

Last month on this same date, I was lamenting the heat of summer and eagerly awaiting the onset of the rainy season…

Today, I am smiling and humming to myself as I look out of my office window…

My very own friendly neighborhood hills are verdant green… lush grass, bushes and trees with their squeaky clean washed wet looks have totally carpeted the countryside…

I am happier still that it”s raining hard in Mumbai… I trust the clouds have unloaded their condensation in the catchment areas of the lakes that provide us life saving water…

Rain brings magic to our lives.. crops to barren fields… frogs to itsy bitsy ponds… earthworms and snails out of their hiding places… bhuttawalas to our housing complexes…

Yes, I know I know.. it also floods low lying areas in Mumbai… and brings our public transport systems (trains and buses) to a halt.. but only transitorily, remember?… only until such time as the low tide sets in taking back the water to the welcoming sea…

Meanwhile, children and young adults have had holidays declared in their schools and colleges… some lucky office goers too have had a relaxing time at home…with their near and dear ones…

Getting wet, having innocent fun, singing and dancing in the rain, some rounds of galli cricket, rides out of town on motorbikes… Aren’t all these little pleasures such an important part of life too?!

    I”m singing in the rain
    Just singing in the rain
    What a glorious feelin”
    I”m happy again
    I”m laughing at clouds
    So dark up above
    The sun’’s in my heart
    And I”m ready for love
    Let the stormy clouds chase
    Everyone from the place
    Come on with the rain
I”ve a smile on my face
    I walk down the lane
    With a happy refrain
    Just singin”,
    Singin” in the rain
