A Fervent Plea, from the Heart…

A fervent plea from the heart

Just as most of us cannot bear very loud noises
Just as many of us are scared of sudden bursts of sound and light
So are the rest of our animal brethren
Let us not forget that we the humans are just thinking animals.

During Diwali, a lot of cruelty takes place
Knowingly and unknowingly… at the hands of children and adults
Bursting of crackers and bombs at all hours -
Disturbing elderly humans, is just the tip of the iceberg.

Tying lit crackers to the tails of cute little puppies
Before setting them alight is harsh fact - not mere fiction
Putting tiny puppies and teensy kittens into gunny bags
And bursting loud bombs close to them is a fact too.

I am sure most of us would not be party to such inhuman games
But … please let us not be mute spectators too
If any of you see cruelty of this kind happening in your neighborhood
PLEASE intervene… to prevent lifelong trauma and even save lives.

Happy Diwali
