‘Budhoose, why are looking so sad?’ my wife asked me. I was reading the newspaper and thinking of the report that there are 7% less women than men in India. I told her about that. She too was shocked to hear that. ‘You and I are partly responsible for that’ I said ‘I understand’ she said. ‘If we had two daughters instead of two sons it would have been only 5 percent’ I said. ‘What can you do about that now?’ she asked. ‘How about having seven daughters? That will wipe out the deficit’ ‘You wanted two daughter and see what you got! Two sons! If you have seven more sons the women had it’ ‘I guess you are right, your record is bad. Let me see, I will go and talk to our professor’ I talked to the professor. ‘Seven women less means seven men saved’ he said. ‘You mean seven fathers not having to find dowry money?’ ‘If you count that too, it will make it 14 men. I mean 7 men saved from women’ he paused for a second. ‘But dowry is a bigger problem, don’t you see’ he asked. ‘I see your point. We should tackle that first’ I said. ‘Do you see it as an economic problem or social problem or an aesthetic problem?’ ‘Definitely an dowry is an economic problem’ I said. ‘You take this book on economic philosophy by Adam Smith and read this, you will get the answer’ he said and gave me the book. Adam Smith told me that where there is excess of any commodity the price falls and when there is really too much available, the seller will have to pay the buyer to take the commodity away. The solution to the problem will be to encourage the female infanticide and abortion of female fetus so that there will be an absolute shortage of women in our country. At that point, men will start paying the would be fathers in law for a wife. Woman will be treated properly and she will be in a position of strength and advantage. No woman will be beaten up, burned or murdered, because the man has paid for her, money comes before wife. Thanks to Adam Smith. We should be doing it fast. But female infanticide will have to continue for the sake of the few women who are still alive.
That situation is what is causing the dowry system. Some one pays a man to take away his daughter whom he does not want and he is willing to pay money to get rid of that girl.

Only BK can come up with such stuff… sounds logical too..
wow this is some twisted logic
nice 1 again cheerup BK
Good one BK
Dark sense of humour!! But somehow can”t laugh at this one. One is prompted to think about how things like female infanticide could be removed in our country. The mind boggles at how to ever find a solution.
Though seems to be crude - but blog is in BK style! As for dowry, for Arabs, men give dowry(mehr?) to girl’’s side. Heard that there some Arabs who do not allow their daughters to get married till they get the desired amount - thus girls become over-aged sometimes. In our own country, on the contrary, its viceversa(how dowry system works), but end result is unmarried girls!
eye opeing point bk. very nicely written……
BK at his cynical best again……!!
good point ….. ur style of writting is simply superb!
Good point, BK and great way of putting it. In the scriptures it says that “in the Kali Yuga women will become like commodities”. Need we look far to see that?
nice point ther..but this is one big paradox. 7% less n the prices r still rocketin!
