“Budapest has so many things to claim. World’ second oldest underground railway is in Budapest. It houses around 80 geothermal springs and world’s largest thermal water cave system. Second oldest synagogue is there.” Professor continues with his description about Budapest, which he had visited recently as a part of a delegation. They had gone there as a part of cultural exchange between Hungary and our nation. Since it is a government sponsored program, all airline deals have been completed by the concerned government agency. They were provided with cheap airfares to Budapest. Their stay and other connected things in that city was the responsibility of Hungary government.

“There may not be any other cities in the world that has seen so much of turbulent history”. Professor continued with great enthusiasm. He was so thrilled to get a chance to visit the place about which he takes classes, that his joy knew no bounds. Though this city has become a major business center in Europe, it still retains its cultural heritage. It has a history dated back to the Celtic settlements in Stone Age and Bronze Age. Then Romans and later Turks came here. It witnessed both the world wars and suffered a lot and came under the rule of communists.  When the people revolted against the communist regime, the Soviets came there. Thus, this city has witnessed a lot of events that decided the fate of world in the past. After giving a short brief about the history of Budapest he turned to us.

There are many places of historical importance in that city. As professor started describing its myriad attractions one by one, we all started dreaming about visiting that places once in our lifetime. We are not sure whether we will get a chance or not. Still we are hoping as there are many flights operating to this city hence there will be no difficulty in getting cheap international tickets .

Apart from a historical city, it is also a thriving business center in central Europe. Electrical, mechanical and pharmaceutical industries contribute major share to its economy. It has being selected as the 7th most idyllic place for living by the Forbes. Though it has a history of invasions and attacks, presently it offers a chance to live a peaceful life and it attracts many tourists here.

As our professor concluded, “When the communists took over the rule, the heritage structures like royal palace were destroyed. They built various structures to showcase their victory. Though these structures are still there communism has been almost faded away from Budapest. However, the things may change again as this city cannot live without incidents and happenings.
