The city that is built from the ashes

Nassau, the capital city of Commonwealth of Bahamas has been known as Charles Town and it has been burned down to ashes by Spanish in 1684. Later it has been rebuilt and renamed Nassau in 1695. By the end of 1713, this island has become the heaven of pirates and many pirates have ruled this island as their private kingdom in the next few years. Then it has been captured by British and it has been brought to the present situation by the British. Even after independence it remained in the British Commonwealth. The history about the city I learned during my last trip. It was a well planned trip and I got enough time for airline deals, bargaining for cheap airfare tickets etc.
Presently the city is well connected to the rest of the world and there a number of flights to Nassau from different parts of US, Canada and Caribbean islands. I was lucky to get one of those cheap airfares to Nassau and reached here. The tropical climate and the beautiful sceneries made it a he4aven for tourists and the economy of the city is mainly based on tourism. Besides, the busy Port of Nassau also contributes a lot to the economy of the city.

Bay street thoroughfare and the Woodes Roger’s Walk parallel to the bay are the main attractions here. The bay street is a busy place for shopping also. Most of the people are coming here for shopping mainly in apparels and other accessories. As the international tickets to Nassau are easily available the number of visitors has increased in the recent past.
Cable beach, which is also called as the hotel district of Nassau has many hotels those extend their service to different classes of people. From the most luxurious hotels you can see even very common hotels also that cater to the needs of the middle class people.

There was huge crowd on all beaches in the evenings. People engaged in various recreational activities in the beaches include foreigners too. There were many vendors in the beach and were selling eatables and beverages to the visitors. The city mainly lives on the income from the tourists and the suburbs have middleclass residential areas where most of the people are engaged in activities related to tourism.
Pirates Museum is another attraction here. It will take us to a world which we have seen only in our imaginations or in some films. The weapons and other accessories used by the pirates in different periods are on display here.

A week in the beaches enjoying the cool breeze and the music of the waves passed very fast. I never felt as if one week was over. The day came when I am supposed to leave this beautiful city. I had my last walk through the Bay Street and purchased some items as a souvenir of my tour. Then I rushed back to the airport. Before bidding adieu, I have taken a decision to visit this city once again.
