Helsinki - An Amazing Destination
When I came to know that my next conference is in Helsinki, I was very excited. I have travelled a lot in past and besides tourist attractions; I also make it a point to know about the city I visit. This way I have knowledge about the culture and history of many places. I feel as if I am able to understand the people residing in a place and their way of living life. Helsinki is the capital of Finland and is not only popular for its scenic attractions but also its culture. I knew that my colleagues will get a variety of ways to spend their time besides attending conference. This would be a perfect way of mixing business with pleasure. Since a variety of cheap airfares are offered by several flights to Helsinki like British Airways, Air France, traveling to this destination is not an expensive affair.
As I am a culture enthusiast, I started accumulating information about the place so that I can enjoy the place better. I came to know that the city is a center of Scandinavian culture with several art galleries and museums offering a glimpse into its rich history and culture. Visitors are simply enthralled to see many attractions beside scenic beauty. The city offers a feel of belongingness and intimacy. The atmosphere of the place is quite jovial and lively, people coming here feel so welcome here that they wish to spend more and more time here. I decided to experience this feeling by getting close to the natives and for that I knew I will have to explore the city on foot. This way I will feel that I am part of the cultural fabric of the city. Market place and side way cafes also offer a means to experience the city in its natural way. The Korkeasaari Helsinki Zoo, the Linnanmäki amusement park and the Merimaailma Sea Life aquarium are some of the attractions that are most liked by visitors.
Through my travel department, I came to know that these days many cheap flights to Helsinki are available that offers best airfares to the visitors intending to travel there. There is an open air museum in the Seurasaari Island, Toolo district. A UNESCO Heritage Site, Suomenlinna naval fortress is also a center of attraction among visitors. The city also offers a way to come across beautiful buildings or architectural splendors. I read in a book that several of the buildings belong to Neo-mediaeval times. Some of the buildings belong to 1900s. Beautiful churches and the crowds thronging there give us an idea about the religious aspirations of people. To know more about the history of the place, I decided that I will definitely visit the National Museum of Helsinki. A variety of items from prehistoric times are on display. Finnish art is also displayed here that gives us an idea about the artistic talents of people residing here.
After knowing about all these places, my curiosity about the place raised a notch higher. I started counting the number of days when I would be there enjoying the beautiful city. Our company booked cheap tickets to Helsinki and with that we were set to visit this awesome destination.
