Letter to a Sweet Sis-in-law http://blogs.rediff.com/charudathan/2007/06/03/letter-to-a-sweet-sis-in-law/ http://blogs.rediff.com/charudathan/2007/06/03/letter-to-a-sweet-sis-in-law/#comments Sun, 03 Jun 2007 17:58:05 +0000 Suresh Nellikode

Hi Suni,

The wandering soul of ‘Loolly’ finally got parked into the body of the new Janu-lookalike. Beware !Cats would take six births, if needed to have revenge upon someone. And it would take normally shapes very dear to us (no wonder it took the shape of Mom’s old Janu!) to impress up on the prey.
(An unpredictable, rapacious cat with hidden fangs looking to shoot out on short impulse is no good sight even in your wildest dreams!) Insomnia turns in meritoriously to save us in such occasions. Don’t try to kill or get rid of her. That may precipitate into an array of irremediable cataclysms.
Live with it!

Your chance to survive in Siam is also fat, Suni!

Spread your interviews like wildfire!

Best of luck. Love to Giuse and those satellites around.

Give Now http://blogs.rediff.com/charudathan/2007/03/31/give-now/ http://blogs.rediff.com/charudathan/2007/03/31/give-now/#comments Fri, 30 Mar 2007 21:36:04 +0000 Suresh Nellikode

Give now

We should change our outlook towards the less privileged. Many a time, I have witnessed beggars being helped by people who themselves are struggling to make their ends meet. Although I do not want to generalise, does this mean that one should be poor to understand the poor? Or is it that by being rich one has no time for such ‘trifles’? Perhaps being in their shoes is a good way to understand a fellow being’s grievances.

Eventually, we do not carry our riches along with us. So we can share it with our fellow beings.

When we give to the needy, we celebrate the act of giving. To want to see the sparkle in the receiver’s eyes ? that makes you a perfect giver. Many of us put off giving by being close-fisted. As a result, many a time a needy person gets deprived of his rights. It reminds me of the words of Kahlil Gibran, the renowned Lebanese poet: ‘All you have shall some day be given; therefore, give now, that the season of giving may be yours and not your inheritor's.’

Time is of essence. It passes on swift wings.

When I’m torn asunder, how do I concentrate on writing?

Sometimes I feel like going to office on off-days even, thanks to the calls continued intermittently throughout the day. Off-days go restless creating an unremitting hostility towards every cat and dog coming around. Or into some promising hideouts, which are knwn to a vey few.

Suja, Chandu and Nandu are certainly missing me. But, then I have relief that Chandu takes care of them and acts his age. He makes Nandu iron his clothes, clean the car and washroom, shovelling ice etc., on rewards which seldom materialise as per the latter. He adds: He makes me slog like a donkey and gets all his woks done on false promises. When I revolt, he fixes me up on something or the other I had done earlier which has ‘far reaching consequences’, on which I could be caught any time by Mom. I’ve no other way out, but to surrender. When I come back tired I could see a Tom Cat resting on his armchair like a feudal lord, crossing his legs!

That’s the way the cookie crumbles at 1494, Paddington Court, Headen Drive, Burlington!

(to be contd …)
