2nd batman movie in the series… first one (batman begins) was great. was thinking 2nd one was going to blow my mind away. but yeah.. joker was brilliant! (:
Hi JB,
that was one witty retort that i quite enjoyed. Many of the critics are eeking out a living by it and a cosy one at that. I have no issues about what or how much critics earn. But are you sure that the critics are or should be paid for writing their personal opinion? I dont think so. All the reviews end with…. skip it, must watch, stay at home etc. guiding readers or TV viewers on what to do with a movie.
A personal opinion should end with I like it or I loathe it but no helpful/demeaning insinuations about the possible torture or heavenly experience.
Btw, its been ages since I watched a movie like “saali…” but if i were to watch such a movie i would go specifically for the content it offers and would not except a “swadesh” from it. Just like when I went to watch Bhoothnath, I expected a good family movie and thats what I got.
P.S. - Do you have a soft copy or a link to “saali…”? it has really been long time since I watched one of those.
cheers!
Hi Jahan.Been here after a long time i guess.Just wanted to tell you that i saw this flick ‘Valu’ (marathi cinema) n found it really absorbing. There’s another one called ‘tingya’ which i’ve heard is really good too.dunno if you watch marathi or understand it,but if it does come out with subtitles, i reckon u’d like it. anyways, keep posting dude.
hi jb!
i agree with u on awards’ standards here. the examples u gave of, both johnny gaddar and m6fu were quite interesting thrillers and the thrillers never get any awards. but “art” movies like “tbu” r made for awards only. it was meant for festivals and awards which it did not get.
was “tbu” a movie targeted at children? no! no child cud ever sit through it. then, was it made for adults? i think the other movie by aamir khan “tzp” did more beautifully what “tbu” cud not by using children to put accross a point for adults to ponder.
ur zealous effort to defend underdogs like “tbu” or “swades” is appreciable but then the great filmmakers do not always make great movies.
a movie can not work unless it involves its viewers within its ambit which was true in both the movies.
i hope to see u more famous than taran adarsh, khaled mohhamed, subhash jha, rajiv masand when u grow up and also hope that u try to create ur own style and apporach to review a movie that stands u apart.
