Ring out the Old, Ring in the New

"For everything there is a season,

And a time for every matter under heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die;

A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal;

A time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

A time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to seek, and a time to lose;

A time to keep, and a time to throw away;

A time to tear, and a time to sew;

A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate,

A time for war, and a time for peace."

- Ecclesiastes

A time to ring out, and a time to ring in.

The past is over. Let's celebrate the NOW. And keep the hope alive for a richer and happier tomorrow ..

No Laughing Stock

One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out.

She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book.

Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says,

“Good morning, Mam. What are you doing?”

“Reading a book,” she replies, (thinking, “Isn’t that obvious?”)

“You’re in a Restricted Fishing Area,” he informs her

“I’m sorry, officer, but I’m not fishing. I’m reading”.

“Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.  I’ll have to take you in and write you up.”

“For reading a book,” she replies,

“You’re in a Restricted Fishing Area,” he informs her again,

“I’m sorry, officer, but I’m not fishing. I’m reading”.

“Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I’ll have to take you in and write you up.”

“If you do that, I’ll have to charge you with Sexual assault,” says the woman.

“But I haven’t even touched you,” says the game warden..

“That’s true, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment.”

“Have a nice day mam,” and he left..

MORAL: Never argue with a woman who reads. It’s likely she can also think.

A Healer's Prescription

The list is definitely not exhaustive. Just a beginning to something that can do wonders to your lives. Just 10 points for a weekend read. You'd love to practice most of them for sure.

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.

3. Try to get enough sleep.

4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, ”My purpose is to____ today.”

5. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.

6. Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

7. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

8. Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.

9. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

10. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

HAVE A HAPPY WEEKEND !

A Melodious Breather

" Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Raah Mein Raahi Ruk Na Jaana Hokar Ke Majboor "

The song felt like a breather when I heard it after a long long time. I heard it last when I was a child and thereafter for few times during the Vividh Bharati era of the All India Radio, while I was still in school. I don't know if those programmes are still being aired by AIR amidst today's FM era. The song attracted my fancy at that time for its lovely lively tune and as much for the presence of the two little kids in the picturisation of the song.

But I seem to be loving the song many folds more now, not just for the sweet and charismatic voices of two most legendary singers we miss often in the present times ' The Great Kishore Kumar and The Legendary Lata Mangeshkar; for the full of life vitality and amazing enthusiasm which the song spreads in the air; the beautiful tune and above all, for the superb lyrics, spreading the great message of life that '

Life is a journey amidst thorns and roses,

Through spring, summer, fall and winter;

The destination lies much ahead

And therefore, my friend!

You've got to keep moving without withering

You may rest a while if you're tired

But you've got to keep moving

Keep moving

Not backward, Only forward

I wished and tried to insert the audio here but failed to do so. (Need to tread a lot as regards my skills in web technology L ) The link to the page where the song can be played is this:

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Raah Mein Raahi Ruk Na Jaana Hokar Ke Majboor

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Yeh Hamari Zindagi Ek Lamba Safar Hi To Hai

Chalte Hai Jispe Hum Anjani Dagar Hi To Hai

Dekh Sambhalna

Bachke Nikalna

Jo Nahi Chalte Dekhke Aage Thokar Se Hai Choor

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Karun Kya Main Pyare Bhai Thak Jaaye Agar Mere Paon

Dam Leke Do Ghari Chala Chal Ban Mile Chahe Gaon

Jo Koi Soya

Usne Hi Khoya

Baat Hamari Yaad Hamesha Rakhna Tu Zaroor

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Tujhe Pyar Bhi Mile Path Me To Samajhna Yahi

Ye Hai Raaste Ki Chaon Saathi Teri Manjil Nahin

Tera To Apna

Aur Hai Sapna

Apne Hi Sapno Ki Manzil Se Na Rah Jaana Door

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

Raah Mein Raahi Ruk Na Jaana Hokar Ke Majboor

Oonche Neeche Raaste Aur Manzil Teri Dur

A gem cannot be polished without friction,

Nor a man perfected without trials.

Temporary Affairs

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All things in life are temporary. If they are going well, Enjoy. They won’t last forever.
If they go wrong, don’t worry. They can’t last long either.
Butterfly
********************************************
Happiness is a butterfly, which,
when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp,
but which, if you will sit down quietly,
may alight upon you.
