'Vibrant' Gujarat Vs 'Listless' Veraval
Actually I have been born and brought up in Ahmedabad and I have passed my young days playing Table Tennis with PhD students of PRL and IIMites and having lots of fun of the city life, but lo! I have been transferred to a small town VEREVAL in Saurashtra which have left me to contemplate about life in general.
Initially I used to feel very lonely and this town is near sea and very dirty with open drainage having fat pigs around, I was in real doldrums that where I have landed up. However, after couple of months I started going to the sea shore enjoying the sea breeze and observing its vastness which dumb folded me and I felt like a pigmy in front of the huge magnitude of the God's creation. In the late evening the sea seems to be decorated with lantern lights of number of fishing boats which gives flashes of queen's necklace of the Bombay's Marine Drive.
In the Modi's so called 'Vibrant' Gujarat this town which has an immense Hindu mythological importance is dying out through pollution (major culprit is RAYON a unit of Aditya Birla), unemployment, goondaism, poor education institutes, no vocational guidance to the students, no proper drinking water, poor supply of electricity (almost every day there is 2 to 3 hours of electricity cutoff). It seems nobody has ever worked for the development of its major population Koli and Kharva as they are a illiterate lot and almost nuisance to all development work of the society as they only listen to their elected 'PATEL' who only mints money and least bothered about the welfare of his community. All the major industries like Gujarat Ambuja Cement Ltd, Gujarat Siddhee Cement Ltd, Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd. are covered by local MPs and MLAs i.e DONs and it is by their whims and fancies the organization runs.
The silver lining and the reason that I am contended to stay here (there are no chances of my transfer in near future) is that at stone throw distance is Prabhas Patan the land of Krishna who after hit by the hunters arrow proceeded to 'GAU LOK' from the Triveni Ghat (The combination of three rivers namely Hiranya, Kapila & Saraswati) Shri Baldev after the cremation of Shri Krishna turned to original form of Sesh Nag and went into Patal (under ground) from a place near this Ghat. Here Parshuram the sage after killing the Shatriyas had performed the Penance Yagna here. Above all Chandra was cursed by his father-in- law Daksha and the same was removed here by praying to Lord Shiva and thereby making it partial thus causing the periodic waning of moon. At this place the first Jyotirling SOMNATH TEMPLE has been built and the same was plundered and destroyed six times by Mohmad Ghazni. Around 15 Kms from Veraval there is Gupt Ganga (The sacred river Ganga had been flowed here secretly as per the last wish of the Sage Dhidhichi)
I have keen interest in Hindu Mythology and this may be the reason the almighty has send me here and by the way my sister Dorothy Gomes was the first Non-Hindu going to Kailash Mansarovar in Indian History and I am lucky here that I am having daily Darshan of SOMNATH and can also feel the vibration of my loved champion Shri KRISHNA.
I have seen that here people are contended and
