Hey! But Fat Ducks Are Not Served Here.
In India there is a saying that hearts are won through stomach'.so I just tried it out on my immediate boss (Income tax Commissioner) and invited him and his wife for dinner to a highly rated restaurant 'Vishala' [There is a small district in Himalaya - 'Badri Vishala'; which is observed as a prominent solace for the 'rishi-munis'(saints & mediators) since time unknown. The place is fit for the purpose owing to the vastness in the ambience and immense relaxation it offers]. We, in couple drove in my Accent (luxury car) to the restaurant which is on the outskirt of the city around 8 o'clock in the evening.
It was to my great surprise that it was not that typical restaurant with bright lights and air- conditional hall and bow tie waiters waiting for you but right from the parking place which looked more like a wood rather than parking plot where hung lamps on the tree trunks or branches instead of regular electricity bulbs and within no seconds I could sense, smell, feel and see that this was a restaurant with no doors, windows, halls, heavy lights but it was such a joy and ecstasy to see pleasant face with two folded hands and an enchanting smile in red turban personality welcoming you with 'Namaste'(Indian gesture of welcome) and beautiful flowers . Wow! No chairs but cots, Ah! This was a typical Indian village brought up to taste the village kind nutritious hygienic food, free and natural environment and the great and warm hospitality of the village people. This was out of the world experience.
The food was just delicious and the sweets were mouth-watering at the sight itself. Again you will find here there is no table or chair but to sit on mud in a cross-legged posture having low height wood log table in front of you. You are given a plate made of leaf, and like a royal guest you are offered delicious food-items in a row. There were around 36 dishes to choose from ' sweet, spicy, boiled, fried, fresh vegetables, sprouted salad and it is much like the irresistible Indian platter. The food is unlimited, Ah! I ate the delectable course till I was contented.
Above all there is an entertainment section in middle of this open air restaurant where you can enjoy the 'Garba' 'Bhajans' (traditional dance and songs) Magic shows and Puppet shows which is enough to enchant your evening. We enjoyed the puppet show as we had to wait for the fresh preparation of our menu and had grand 'waiting time'.
It was Mind blowing soothing experience of the place, environment, food, people out there and I figured out this was one of the favorite place of the late Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi and very often visited by world renowned Painter M.F. Hussain, All the ambassadors of all the countries, the Indian legend Bollywood Star Dr. Amitabh Bachan, the cricket prodigy Sachin Tendulkar and the Indian business tycoon Ambani family, the Singhania family.
Oh yes, I forgot one thing that there is a breathtaking museum that makes one’s heart skip a beat watching at the irrevocable beauty of the utensils. These utensils have been through the changing seasons and times over years. They speak of the unmatchable art-genius of man kind during the old days when they did not have the modern facilities of our times.
Well — Are you thinking about the price of the Dinner' well it has to be around Rs. 500, NO''..then Rs. 400, a big NO'' but at least Rs. 250 No'it is only Rs. 189/- plus taxes for the adult and Rs. 74 for children between 3years-11 years and remember everything served is unlimited i.e. eat to your hearts content.
About my boss, well, It is needless to say that my was boss was very happy at my choice for this restaurant for the evening and I received many thanks from his wife'..Well I could realize that I had won their hearts through stomach,'no'through the taste and ambience of this Restaurant. This restaurant has become my favorite place due to this flawless character of serving delicious food in the best natural way.
Isn't that worth at least checking out? It is the single best thing you can do this Sunday evening to satisfy your appetite for tasty Indian Platter, overall village like environment and above all heart- felt hospitality is to visit 'Vishala'
