My Daughter’s Creativity!!!

Hi Friend!

I want to share something very precious with you. I’m a proud mother indeed.

Today, my younger daughter Anubhuti who is nine was asked to write a few lines on “Dedication” in her school. She wrote it like as follows. I felt very proud of her, and am sure that even you’ll feel so. Please spare a few moments from your busy schedule for my daughter’s creativity. This is the ‘unedited’ version of what she wrote.

DEDICATION

Q.: What do we mean by Dedication?

A.: “Dedication” is the devotion that we ought to direct toward our work. If we do not focus, we do not achieve our aim. You know there are so many people in this wide world, who have overcome so many obstacles in life. How? They have worked hard for it; devoted themselves utterly to their work. For example, Raymond Clarence Ewry!!! This is what we mean by Dedication.

Q.: Why should we “Dedicate” ourselves to work?

A.: It is impossible for us to achieve anything if we do not dedicate ourselves to our work. If we just slack off how CAN we achieve anything? If we just keep hoping for money and don’t do anything to achieve it? That’s the reason why we should dedicate ourselves to our work.

Q.: How is “Dedication” important to us?

A.: It is like this: Dedication is like a mother to us. She gently helps us to rise even if we are beaten. She gently puts strength and determination into our mind and our body. If we are passionate about sports, then even when we fall ill, we occasionally grab the ball, whether it is volleyball, basketball or football. Why? It is the focus, the dedication. This qualifies that dedication is important to us. It keeps us going.

THANK YOU!!!

Friend, I felt too good to read this small article. Instant, thoughtful, and creative! For those who don’t know about Raymond Clarence Ewry—An American, he was among the most successful Olympians of all time. He contracted polio as a child, and for a short while was dependent on wheelchair. Through hard work, dedication and immense courage, Ewry taught himself to walk and jump. He persistently engaged himself in leg strengthening exercises; eventually defeating his illness.

Thank you.

I am pursuing my PhD!!!

Hi Friends!

Just wanted to inform you all that I am pursuing my PhD in Metaphysics. My specialization is “Spiritual Counseling.”  I am enjoying my studies, and learning a lot. This course has helped me change my perspective about myself, about people around me, and about life as a whole. The lessons in my course are real life lessons, and they are truly helping me enhance my spirit. My inner world has changed a lot, and so is my outer world. I feel happier, more peaceful, content, and composed all the time.

When I tell people about my course and my specialization, they ask me—“What is this Spiritual Counseling? Has it got something to do with the religion, converting to a particular religion, or following some rituals on a day-to-day basis?” And friends, my answer is– “NO.” No dear, you don’t have to do anything of this sort. It is all about spirit, enhancing your spirit. Our material body follows the rituals of a particular religion but a soul has no religion. The human spirit should follow only one religion, and that is the religion of “Humanity.” Do no harm to other fellow beings. Let us all make this world a better place to live.

If you want to know more about this, please get back to me.

My Journey- from Darkness to Brilliance

Hi Friends!

This is a poem about accepting self unconditionally and enhancing self-esteem. Hope you all will like it.

A sweet, li’l charming girl me,

I was born with a silver-spoon;

Unheard were the melodies,

and the songs that I would croon.

Movies, parties, zooming around,

Food n friends to surround;

Only fritter, chit-chatter

I was mad as a hatter.

My dreams were so vivid,

Desires so high;

Every time I took a leap,

I came down with a sigh!

I got up every time, and won

Accolades a ton; but

My heart would cry n yell

Dear, this is not done.

I dug inside, deeper n deeper

To my soul’s core;

It was dark as night all around,

I could go no furthermore.

Peeping further inside,

Into the crappie hell;

Came a voice soothing

I feel, I must tell.

Buried were my strangled desires,

Feelings of guilt n shame;

They grew enormously there

As I couldn’t tame them.

But friends, it was time

To clear all that grime;

And I started singing

My life’s melodious rhyme.

So I upped my esteem, and

Hugged myself tight;

Gone was the dark night, and

Everything was just bright!

My meeting with “Self”!!!

Hi Friends!
After my day’s work, personal and professional commitments, I returned home quite exhausted. The moment I entered my home, my kids hugged me. My tiredness was half-gone! Then I freshened up, prepared a cup of coffee and just came out in my balcony, overlooking the sea-front. I rested my elbows on the iron rod above the parapet and just drowned myself in the beauty of nature. The breeze was cool, sweeping past by the coconut trees lining the beach, the sun was about to set, the rhythmic sound of waves was tranquilizing and the chirping of birds was just enough to pull me into a state of trance. I just pulled in my easy chair and lay down on it. I probably fell asleep. I woke up after an hour or so and found myself to be all new, rejuvenated, energized. I was wondering as to what could have happened in my short nap that I am feeling so good and then I churned my grey cells and tried recalling some phenomenon that happened to me during my sleep. I had a dialogue with myself—my “inner-self”.

I was walking past a street and saw a man sitting in anguish. I asked him, “What happened, my friend?” He replied that everyone in this world is better than him. No one loves him, no one cares for him. I asked, “Do you love yourself?” He said, how can I love myself when no one else does? I had to tell him that he has to love himself first, and only then the world will follow suit. Love thyself truly, fully, unconditionally, with all pluses and minuses in you. Don’t sit and solve the puzzle of how many pluses and how many minuses. Just have a look at them and improve your pluses, the minuses will reduce automatically. He felt happy, I felt happy too. Do you know who he was? He was my inner-self. As my inner-self felt happy, I too was happy.

Then I went inside a park. It had lush green lawns, palm trees, beds of various fragrant flowers, birds and bees all around and kids playing in the play area. I sat there for a while and pondered over what makes kids so happy? Why are they so energetic, so vibrant all the time? And I realized that it is because they just don’t bother about others and their opinions. They are just by themselves. While playing, they fall down, get hurt and sometimes cry too but nothing to bother my friend; they just get up, brush their bottoms and get back to their play. Do you know who they were??? They were my simple thoughts, telling me not to bother about someone else’s opinion about myself, just be myself, and that’s it.

From there I came to the beach. I went and stood amidst the waves; coming towards me and going back into the sea. I was amazed at the restlessness of the waves. I asked them, friends why do you look so restless, why do you come to the sea-shore and why do you go back? What do you expect, what is about to happen to you? And they laughed at me. They said, our dear friend! We aren’t here to expect something; we aren’t here to please someone. We are just we. We do our job without any expectations; we just come to the shore because we ought to and that’s what we do. We are ourselves and we enjoy being ourselves. And you know friends; this was again my conscience telling me to be myself and to have no expectations from others.

But I was still not convinced with the reply the waves gave me. So I poked them again. Friends, tell me one thing. I understand that you have no expectations from others but what about your expectations from yourself? I thought they might muddle up the words but no! They told me that they don’t expect anything from themselves as well. I was surprised. I asked them why? They replied in a very calm tone that the expectations are like utopia; you can never have it in reality. The unfulfilled, insurmountable expectations bring the feeling of distress and you feel discontent. So why to have them at all?

My pristine sleep was interrupted by a sharp thud; a coconut was falling down and the moment I opened my eyes, I couldn’t believe that I was sitting in the cozy atmosphere of my home. I just took some moments to gather all the pieces from my invaluable, incredible dream, where I made my first rendezvous with my true self.

While pondering over the snippets, I was thinking that one must have self-acceptance, self-esteem and certain expectations from oneself, though not unattainable because having expectations will only bring out the best in you. If we have no expectations at all from ourselves, we will be nothing more than a lumpish squid. So, do have expectations but they should be realistic. Secondly, as far as the opinion of others is concerned, I don’t pay heed to what someone says about my looks, my attire, my culture and many such personal and superficial things because I know why I am the way I am. And if I am the way I am, there’s a valid reason to it.

It was the effect of this dialogue with my inner-self which brought me to the sunshine.

 I would like to quote, “Always know in your heart that you are far bigger than anything that can ever happen to you.” – Dan Zadra

I will now try to follow these principles of life and work towards becoming a more self-assured and enlightened human being!

Know ‘self’ as never Before!!!

Hi Friends!

Do you know thyself??? What a stupid question to be asked, that’s what you are thinking; am I right??? Right, so tell me now, how well do you know yourself? You’ll say that I know myself the best; I look into the mirror at least 4-5 times a  day; I know what I like, what I don’t, who I like who I don’t and so on n so forth. But friends I am asking about your “self”; are you really aware of your “self”, the inner-self, your true self??? If yes, well n good; if not, it’s high time, just put on your thinking caps and get moving…

What is this “self” and how do I know it, why do I need to know about it and many more questions like this will now run through your mind. I have written quite a few times earlier also that please devote some special time for yourself and only yourself. No other thoughts should clutter your mind at that time. Just devoting fifteen minutes a day is enough for you to slowly get the grip of your inner-self.

We are all beautiful within; God has made us great to deliver greatness to the world but we don’t realize this. We all have something unique about ourselves, we are all unique, no two people can be same on this planet and we are a big, rich source of energy which can do wonders for the well being of mankind. Friends, recognize that potential within, help yourself and others in whatever way you can, enrich your soul and lead a meaningful life. But how???

Here are a few suggestions for you my dear friends:

When you look into the mirror, tell yourself that you are looking at a responsible person who’s the ‘in-charge’ of his/her life, for yesterday, today and tomorrow. This way you’ll learn to take responsibility of your life and you’ll not hold every other person responsible for the condition of your life.

Accept self as a whole with all –The good, the bad, the ugly. Accept yourself as a package. Every positive is followed by a negative and vice-versa. So whatever way you are, accept yourself fully, unconditionally.

Love thyself first. (before you “love your neighbor”, just kidding)

If you commit a mistake; don’t ruin your whole life by brooding over it; just learn from it, make required corrections and move ahead. Never repeat it.

Feel good about yourself, treat yourself for the good you did, pat yourself and feel proud of yourself.

Think, talk and act positively, always. Make it a habit to be positive all the time.

Get into a good habit of being Happy all the time, whatever be the situation.

Don’t feel depressed for things which you can’t control; just leave them aside.

Doing these simple exercises would enable you to spend some quality time with your own self. Positive affirmations help you grow as a better person each day.

So what are you waiting for- start right now, right away…

Cheers

Please join me in prayer for world peace!!!

Hi Friends!

I am sure you all must have watched TV today. Japan is going through such a big Natural Calamity-Earthquake, Tsunami and fire at one time. So many are already dead, many going through agony. There are so many negative vibes around. Three elements out of vital five are showing their fury at their worst.

Here is my humble request to all those who are reading this to please join me in prayers for those affected and for the well being of others so that they are saved from Nature’s fury. Come join me.

Chant HIS holy name and pray to him to bring this nature’s anger to a halt. We all should pledge to respect Mother Nature by following the Laws of Nature diligently and not misusing her any more for our material good. When all of us will join, the impact of positive vibes will increase manifold.

Let the PEACE prevail, Amen!!!

Hope you will help me in this small but powerful endeavor for the good of all living beings.

A Wake up Call for All!!!

Hi Friends!

While writing this post, I am felling quite restless, unstable, nervous and anxious. I’ve never had this feeling before. Actually last two days I was pondering over something very inhumane, gruesome and out of the world probably. There was news two days back about a young woman who first flung her two kids from the 19th floor of her building and jumped herself too. All of them died on the spot. There was a note found saying ‘no one to be blamed’ for this!

How ridiculous??? If no one is to be blamed then why did you commit such a heinous crime? What made her take such a drastic step that she didn’t even think twice before flinging her kids and later committing suicide??? What the news paper read was that she looked perfectly normal before this, had her breakfast with family and then this spine-chilling act?

Once something like this happens, everyone starts their own investigations, so many assumptions/presumptions, so many ifs n buts. I’ve a question here which I’m sure will sound like a stupid one of course but I can’t help it- My question is when the lady had planned it so well, why didn’t she write a proper suicide note stating the reasons for such a thing. Don’t you think the people behind this should be punished? Why didn’t she expose their names, reason for taking such a step and other details which pushed her to commit something like this? My conscious mind says that she being a literate female (a chartered accountant and a lecturer by profession) should have had the minimum common sense to unveil those who forced her to commit three crimes at one time.

Another question which comes to mind is that- Are we really educated??? Does just earning degrees make us literate??? What is the meaning and use of education if we aren’t able to apply it in our day-to-day life? Wasn’t she aware of the fact that by doing this she’s actually committing three extremely cruel acts?

One more question is that why didn’t she discuss it with her parents or a friend or any professional counselor who could have helped her sort it out?

Friends, the city psychiatrists are calling this “altruistic maternal filicide”; such a big, attention-catching word for most of us; means ‘out of love for kids’ in simple language!!! But ‘altruism’ is selfless love my dear; where is this selfless thinking gone? What made her take her kids’ lives which she has no control over, why did she take her own life which is also not hers??? How can you think that there is no one to look after your kids when you leave this world? Her parents knew that she was being tortured for whatever matter. Then why didn’t they take a step ahead to save these three lives. Now everyone is numb in their family, they aren’t able to come on to the terms with this stark reality. What are they getting now??? They actually lost everything…

How immature thoughts my friends; to hide the torture of this extent just for the sake of some social norms or say- what would people say n all??? How immature of that mother to think that by doing this she would get rid of all that pain? All those who have even a li’l idea of spirituality, would agree with me that by doing so, she had pushed herself into even more trouble, she has indented her soul, she has maligned the love n respect of the supreme power. She was probably not aware of the fact that committing suicide is considered to be a bigger crime than committing a murder and she has committed all three at one go. This is not the end of her agony; this is rather beginning of a whole new chapter of pain n sufferings for her.

I just wanna make a request to all my friends that please be well aware of what you are up to. Don’t just do something because you wanna do it, think of the consequences- short term (earthly) as well as long term (after death). You have to pay off your Karma for sure and just can’t get away with it. So please be careful before even thinking something; think cautiously, consciously and act also carefully.

Being Consciously Spiritual!!!

Hi Friends!

Now-a-days we read, listen and talk a lot about being spiritual, finding one’s purpose of life, being one with ‘HIM’ and likes. But what is all this, doesn’t it sound Greek to all of us. We want to learn this, understand its meaning and if possible, would like to apply it in our lives too. But whom to contact, whom to go to learn, who’ll help us crack this puzzle of our lives?

Friends I must tell you that I am also a novice in this field but today I would like to share a few things with you after I turned spiritual on a conscious level.  I am sure; you wanna ask me a simple question that “what is being spiritual on a conscious level”? Very good question, I must say my friends!

We are all spiritual by our basic nature. But how we sometimes get misled on the way to a destination, we just miss our path on our journey of life and get tangled in materialistic pleasures. I am not against enjoyment of any kind but we should never forget that we are here to perform something more than just physical indulgences. Life gives us ample opportunities to come back to the centre point. We do come there and go wayward again because we find pleasure in something else. We do realize that this material pleasure is ephemeral but we become slaves of our senses and try to keep away from the eternal pleasure which spiritualism brings with it.

By being consciously spiritual I mean that being aware of everything in my surroundings, be it just a thought, an action or whatever. When I am thinking something, I should think positive, if my mind strays here n there, I pull it back to the original position. When I feel like acting in anger, rage, revenge or do something bad, my inner self tells me to mend my ways n means of doing that. We generally ignore this inner voice but on a conscious level, I listen to it carefully n act accordingly.

Being consciously spiritual means respecting self for what I am and others for what they are, giving everyone an equal opportunity to express themselves, behave in their own unique manner and giving them proper space to grow as an individual. Respect free will. We are all free souls; we can’t be bound by laws other than laws of nature. Respect the laws of Nature; discipline yourself and respect the light, the vibes, the sounds of nature and you’ll find youself  in perfect sync with divinity.

Spirituality is a feeling of being absolute. So be absolute, complete, in whatever you may do. Give your best every time, enjoy everything you do, indulge your soul into things which may even sound petty, put your heart into everything.

Going close to nature is another way of being spiritual. Once you master this art of enjoying the beauty of nature, you’ll find youself in unison with the universe, its magnificent ways of reaching up to us in many different ways, its mesmerizing power to attract our souls towards it and being one with it.

The sole purpose of every soul is to be one with HIM. We are really not aware of our own purpose to life. Instead of asking this question again n again, I believe in doing things in a conscious state  of mind, not hurting anybody deliberately, being happy always, serving the poor n needy by whatever way I can and pray religiously to HIM. I thank him for every breath I take, each n every drop of water I drink, for every morsel I eat, for every night’s sleep n every morning’s glory. I thank him for giving me power to think, act and feel on a conscious level. I am not aware of what I did in my past incarnations but I like to be perfectly aware of what I am doing now.

It is said that we carry forward things (karmas, emotions, feelings) from our past incarnations. I would also have carried a few things from my past incarnations- a few positive n a few negative. But now, I don’t want to carry any feelings of anger, revenge, lust and unfulfilled desires with me. Because if we are bound to carry such things along with us  in our  next incarnation then I better carry only positive feelings with me. And I consciously work upon this so that there is no negativity in my thought, speech n action. This is conscious spiritualism my friends.

I hope you all liked this post and would suggest me some more ways of being consciously spiritual!!!

A Day in the life of a Home Tutor!!!

Hi Friends!

Yesterday, I met a person, he’s a home tutor. I am quite inquisitive by nature so whenever I come in contact with someone different, I try to understand his/her profession, the pros n cons attached to it n all. So we started talking. It was indeed an eye opener session for me. So I decided to share it with you all.

His typical day starts at 6.30 am. Commuting in Mumbai is really a tough task that too in the mornings and evenings. He just takes something li’l in the morning and rushes to station. Catches a train; goes to the student’s place. At his student’s home, it’s the rush hour. As his father has to go to office, mother is busy cooking, student has just got up from sleep and the maid is doing her chores. There’s chaos everywhere. This guy goes n sits quietly in the chair and waits for the student to come. The boy comes with his glass of milk, lazing around and replies to his questions in a rather sleepy tone. Slowly, the momentum builds up and then it’s time to leave.

This guy now comes to the station again, takes another train to the other student’s place. There the scene is a bit better as the morning rush hour has passed, everyone has gone to his/her destination. This guy (student) is feeling a bit relieved after morning circus and there arrives this tutor. Ding-dong rings the doorbell and the student asks him, how come you are so early today sir? This guy feels like giving him two tight slaps. Anyway, he just smiles and starts with his first question- Did you do your homework last night????

Then rushing to his other students all day long, juggling between train, bus, auto-rickshaw n all this guy goes home by about 8pm. Sometimes he has something in between two classes, sometimes it’s just not possible to stop at a good hotel to have something; even a roadside vendor  is also far too approachable for the want of time. Wherever he reaches late, the mothers are waiting with an explosive smile on their faces and they just don’t leave a chance to scold him also. They sometimes don’t even shy away from reminding him that they are paying a hefty sum to him. This poor chap, just says sorry and moves on.

Though this tutor doesn’t like to have anything at anybody’s place, there are a few considerate ones who offer him tea n snacks n all. I liked it and asked him what’s the best thing and the worst too about being a home tutor. He replied quickly that the best thing is that he goes to only deserving candidates because he’s choosy about whom to tutor n whom not to. This is a viable option as far as finance is concerned because home tutors always charge more. He can concentrate on his students’ weak n strong points and is able to bring out the best out of them. But about negative side what he spoke touched me my friends. He said, since he goes home to teach, the parent is always there to judge him. They try to interrupt sometimes when he scolds the student for not doing homework n all. These people shout at him and tell him to mind his own business. (Then what is this guy doing, he’s minding his business only. If he doesn’t scold the student and if the student wouldn’t score well in exams, it’ll be this poor guy only, who you all parents would scold). Then sometimes there is disturbance of phone calls, TV, doorbell n all.

But he says at the end of the day, he feels satisfied when all his students do well in their respective exams and bring laurels to him n to themselves. He tells them to study smartly and not just mug up. He suggests the parents not to pressurize them, take them for walks, to a place of worship, eat healthy, sleep well and all.

So this was the life of a home tutor in Mumbai in a nutshell. I enjoyed talking to him. I hope all those who are planning to engage a home tutor for their kids in near future should take a note from this and help a home tutor achieve his target and in turn see their own wards getting better ranks in the exams.

Have you had your piece of cake????

Hi Friends!

I am feeling very proud to announce that my blog has turned “ONE” today. This one year was quite fulfilling for me. I started blogging as a means to share my thoughts with just friends n family. But I was not aware that my family would grow so big in a span of just one year. Now I’ve many more friends who’ve supported me in my new venture. I would like to thank all my friends, supporters, critics and loved ones for making me realize my dream of penning down my thoughts.

Initially quite a few people who knew me would ask me, “Why the hell do you write anything n everything about your life. Internet is a medium where anybody can just log in to your space and read n comment n all. You should be careful about what you are writing.”

Very true my friends! This was the only reason that I wrote my blog posts so diligently and honestly so that you all would find it somewhere near to your heart n soul; you can relate to incidents cited in my posts with your day to day life. What I write is nothing new or not that you all didn’t know about, the incidents written in my posts were very much close to the hearts of many of us but what I loved the most in this whole last year was that I was constantly thinking positive, browsing through my treasure of memories. Doing this, I myself cleared a lot of clutter from my mind and I find myself even more confident, strong-emotionally and mentally, more vigilant to the surroundings and a very big and noticeable change is that, I used to talk a lot earlier but now I am a good listener too. Hehehehe!

This is just the very first step of my journey of millions of miles. I would like to celebrate it in a big way and for this I would like to invite you to have a piece of cake from this Chocolate cake.

Come on let’s celebrate our one successful year of togetherness. I would like to thank you all once again and would request you to please shower me with your love n patronage in days to come too. Before I take a leave from you all today;

Have you had your piece of cake which is especially baked for you? Here is it….

Lots of love n regards

p.s.: The cake is eggless so all my friends who are pure vegetarians or don’t have eggs too can relish it…
