Helloo…my beloved Ilandmates,
I think so far 2008 is going gr8 for all of you……but not for many…like this poor starlet “Shriya”.
The beginning of 2008 has carried along the controversy of “Moral Policing” one witnessed in the past….and the poor female-celebrities being a soft target.
The only new thing about the current controversy is…its Shriya this time and not “Kushboo”, who currently holds the world record for more number of controversies.
So, its like one of my Friend (a fellow tamilian) found the outfits worn by “Shriya” in a public function (not just a public function… its the silver jubilee function of “Shivaji” presided by the C.M. of Tamilnadu himself…) to be offensive, demoralising and hurting the sentiments of a particular religion and tamil culture, at large.
When I saw the pikis of shriya in the said function (above).., i found nothing that is offensive or obscene. Basically it was all done for cheap publicity and the media, right from the local dailies…till Rediff….. wrote columns and stories about this issue.. and hence the purpose of my Friend is solved.
I just wonder, how a person claiming to be part of a relegious activist group, cud think of drafting such petitions..go to a Police Station..file a complaint….and rising to glory (read publicity…) in a shortcut., when there are loads of social issues to be taken care of at Tamilnadu..like..child molestation cases, rape, eve teasing, sexuall harassements for ladies at work places and everywhere..even in places of relegious worship ( not limited to any particular relegion)…. which my friend might have felt ..”is all part and parcel of Tamil culture….,which need not be taken care of..????” Luckily Tamilnadu Police had rejected his petition, stating they cannot take action on a person for “wearing a dress”..???!!! Still, poor Shriya had apologised..!
I donno…, if my friend may think the various sculptures found in the temples of south India are of “alien culture”..??? and temples like Kajuraho…are the remains of “British Raj” in India..?? May be i could provide couple of leads… for my dear friend to file some more petitions to safeguard “tamil culture”…! I hope my friend was not sleeping while Trisha attended this function at Chennai…
or ..may be he might have been too obsessed with this picture…so as it was his moment of madness, he forgot to write a petition…instead ended up “j***ing off”…??!! Better late than never my friend..you can still sue Trisha.
There was also this incident, where a Tamil Female orator was not allowed to attend a function (where she was one of the guests) hosted by a prestigious college in Chennai for the reason “not wearing a Duppatta, over n above her Tops”…Howz that my mates..??
So, tomorrow if you are at Tamilnadu dont be surprised if you are accused for not wearing a Duppatta…and even if you are wearing one…, may be someone may accuse of it “not in place”. May be if the following picture had ever came out in tamilnadu dailies…. even gurlz cud have been banned to wear a salwar kameez / churidar…!!!!
(when comparing the above…i dont think the costume of shreya..is more kinky unlike this which would feed to some voyueristic pleasure.) Moreover i do feel….that the very purpose of inventing a “Duppatta” is not-at-all honoured by the gurlz now a days…am i right..??
A word of advice to the Models & Fashion Show organisers…. never dare to think of a “Wardrobe Malfunction” in the territory of Tamilnadu…. you would be deported & shall face exile…!!!!
Anyways.., I wish media should not throw light on any such kind of silly issues and rather bring out certain burning issues for the attention of general public…!!!
Above all, i do beleive “Saree” is by far the sexiest of all the outfits….for an Indian Women..!!
What say buddies..??
Just Chill……!!!!!!
~!gift!~
N.B.: May be my iland may get banned at Tamilnadu for hurting the sentiments of fellow Tamils..???

Dammit..the moral police show unneccesary concern over trivial thngs like ths but ask them what they do undercover…they cant leave the democratic world do what it wants to…..
Press is to be blamed for such events undue publicity.
Hey, Gift…amazing piece to read….thought provoking 2…………
super sexy pics man…:)) on a serious note…i m not too sure why court’’s entertain such petitions and this is when they have imposed a penalty if the petition is not entertained!

its all about individual perception! if we look through tainted glasses everything around will look dark and murky! How about moral policing the dressing or the lack of proper clothing worn by female actors in indian films? what about politicians having sex with minor girls and boys? what about the bring the law and gavel down heavily on rapists, child molesters and human trafficers? where’’s the moral policing then? ask these “moral Policing” pseudo’’s to stick their sesspool filled heads down the toilets and flush it! I say good riddance to bad rubbish!
nudes for dudes
Nice Gift ! shreya pakkathila neenga irundheengala illa vivekaa ?? enakku doubtaa irukku ! hehe..Cool
Thanks. I hope Trisha’’s legs are not morphed. They look too good to be hers. Yes, publicity seeking has reached its zenith. So has moral policing. Where has all the famed tolerance gone. Great pixes. Do you have more moral stories. But these celebrities will laugh their way to the bank with exposes etc. What about the poor others. My two young friends went to the beach for some quiet time and were chased out of the place for no reason. Immoral policing.
i agree with wat you say gs …… making a mountain out of a mole hill i guess!! pictures nice specially the avatar
teehee FG hahaha Yenna rascalla indeed!
these are all to marketing gimmicks friend Gifty… to get ratings high for Shreya’’s movies especially Shivaji…to draw attention not only from people of Tamil Nadu but from other parts of India. The controversy triggered out of nothing gets more media attention. just like in your case you have used these photos to get more ilander attention and comments.. hahahaha.. it is not moral police it is all market policy… marketing strategy !!!
But ditto Animesh… nothing wrong in Shreya’’s outfit.
Yenna Rascalla!!! You made us a gift of all those hot pics under the pretense of discussing an issue! :)))))
i could find nothing wrong in shreya’’s outfit. in fact all this while i thought all this hullabaloo was for some other outfit!!
These r nothing but publicity stunt by media and exploited by a group of interested parties.
neenaga,nama aaloo…athu romba feeloo
enjoyed both post as well as pics………ha……ha……btw this is not happening only in tamil but in rest of places as well……..making mountain out of mole hill………instead of concentrating on serious issues…..
Very True Gifty..as if there are no other issues to discuss about..Why are these people wasting public time and court time as well by hyping the dress issue?? Kindly stop at once..
romba nall sonnenga …. mukkiyama vishayathai moral police eppavum parpathu illai ..
Making issue out of nothing is a serious job of media today, thats pity!
beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder- truly said- and so does nudity….too large a number of moral police are at large these days-all eyeing for cheap publicity I muss say. camera angle does a lots of trick too…like the one where Sania Mirza was shown sitting her foot toward the national flag….I believe the flag must be miles away but the camera showed something else….these are all rubbish….recently I got a mail where there is a whole collection of Sania mirza’’s so-called ‘’sensuous” snaps…and i was surprised to see that she was all in her usual sports outfit but the camera angle tried to make it look so cheap….we should spend our time in something more creative than all this shit…your concern is genuine…(I am forwarding the mail to you too)
Hi Gift, just three quick observations.1)The first set of pics (I do not recoginise this actress as I am not a movie buff) and the ”moral out rage” reminds me an old Hindi song…t goes like this…”Hum Ko Jo Taney Dete Hain,Hum Khoyen Hain In Rang Raliyoon Mein,Hum Ney Un Ko He Chup Chup Ke AAtey Dekha In Galiyoon Mein… In short this is sheer, perverse, hypocrites seeking some cheap publicity. 2) Another set of pics the ”beauty” is sitting on a dais in a function hosted by VLCC (Curls and Curves). I wonder what more would have she worn than this! A Burkha…showing CURVES! 3) As for the third set, the beautiful girl is trying with her hand, a usual sight, now what the fuck photographer ”intended” when he clicked these? I advise these guys to go and bash this photographer who took this snaps. In any case I do not support any type of ”moral” policing. anil
moral police lacks morale, that’’s why they indulge in such prcatices - to get some cheap publicity !
Neenga dhan photographer aaaa??? Your iLand may be blocked but u r safe stationed in Lagos………..
the salwar wala one is particularly right. ha ha
Giftie u say it right always! Pic and all!
