Similipal Seeks Armed police to deal Naxal
As the rain started the season of the nature starts. So Similipal left undisturbed of any tourist activity. The jungle is left to grow, animals to breed and the nature to color. But in this four months time it became paradise for the trespassers and the poachers. As habitat exists any one can enter to the core as well as buffer area to satisfy his will. He may stay with the Adivasis or with the church. He can start poaching and go away in the secrete paths. In one line the experts in this trespassing the Naxals may enter and make it a active station. And lack of security will help them in this regard. But the officers of the sanctuary are not taking this as serious. They considered it as a regular affair.
When the 845sqkm area Reserve got the sanctuary status in last April, the forest official became happy that it will help them to punish the poachers but when they see a threat of naxalism it became an headache. Now the forest rangers, guards, the tiger protection force and the vana Surakshya vahini have the capacity to deal the normal poachers and they have the weapon to do so. But they are not trained and equipped to face the Naxallite threat added Mr. R Nagaraja Reddy, the director of the Tiger Reserve. When asked if there is a threat, he told till date we have not seen any naxal activity and we don't suspect so. But this may be because Mayurbahanj has seen the attack in last year. It can not be avoided as the it is adjacent to jharkhand and chhatishGarh added eastern range DIG of police Mr. Y.K Jethwa.
In the month of may 2007 the naxals have killed one forest guard in GoruMahishani Police station. And in the net month they blew up Police jeep under the same police station. As the Hill is adjacent to jungle and Naxals prefer to stay in a low populated un developed jungle area, so Similipal is expected to be so. Again inside the sanctuary there are habitats. For this Regular Haats are arranged and the tribal people run here and there without any restriction. The Naxals may enter to the Jungle as Trespassers, what the Centre has warned to the authority. But the Authority is not serious to that. And said we seek more police personnel to tackle. As we have only one out post and it has not sufficient police so we desperately need so said the director. He also said we have found more numbers of wood smuggling in this lean season.
So it can be said that the forest officials are not capable to face the problem. And for this reason of lack of security Similipal may become heaven to the extremism activity. It may conclude that the govt has to suffer more if it is not treated as a serious problem now. And when the activity started neither the animal nor the tourist feel safe to be there.
