Solar and Lunar Ecclipse

A solar ecclipse , even though partial , will be visible in India on 1st August’08. This will be visible in the afternoon, till sunset- rather the setting sun will be an ecclipsed one for many parts of India. Please take time to watch this celestial phenomenon. But do take good care to see that you don’t watch the sun directly with naked eye. Use x-ray filter films or other filters- but yes do watch it.And ofcourse don’t heed to the superstition mongers. It is just a phenomenon in which the moon happens to be in direct line of vision of sun for earthlinks. Nothing to be afraid of. No harmful emissions, no poison in the air, no rahu ketu etc…

A Lunar ecclipse will take place on 16th August. That will be just past midnight in India. Unlike solar ecclipse, this can be viewed with naked eye.

One warning- don’t watch Hindi news channels - they only propagate superstition.

If possible, teach the true science behind these phenomenon to the younger generation.

So Happy viewing.
