Isn’t it strange that even with loads of money and celebrity status , someone like Michael Jackson still felt the need to have a fair skin? Doesn’t that tell you something about how deep rooted may be the insecurity of an oppressed community ? I’m not defending his preferences. But I surely do feel sorry for him . He was not a happy person at all. I wish he had been.

I’m currently reading Barack Obama’s “Dreams from my father”. He mentions coming across a picture in “Life” magazine, when he was a nine year old , of a blackman whose hands and face were shown as having an unnatural pallor as if he had undergone some kind of radiation. The write-up had explained how the treatment for changing the colour of the skin from black to white had gone wrong and how the man had regretted having gone undergone the procedure. The report had also apparently mentioned that there were thousands of people like him , that had undergone the same procedure in response to advertisements that promised happiness as a white person. Obama mentions that incident as something that really jolted him as till then he was not really conscious of the color of his skin. He also writes that he would later put that incident in the context of his understanding that the biggest enemies were within us…our own fears.

And see how idiot the other Lissome Lady was. She threw a public abuse against me calling me imposter and what not. How idiotic and how edo-driven is she? I hope she lives and lets me live at peace now.

  7. Lissome Lady says

    Thank you so much.

ILand is indeed crazy. They returned my iland back after I agreed to delete my post about Islam. It was a horrible experience, but it is fine since I was allowed to come back. Hope to get over it. Be in touch.

Adarnyia Didi ko Sa’adar Charan Sparsh

    (O) Hugs and really I am honored Didi. Aap ne aab dekha! Is mein mera kaya Kasoor ? Wonder! Should have checked my ‘More Vibrant and well read WP’. But in any case not only here at iland but there too at WP you have and shall always be my favorite not because you are my Didi alone, but for being what you are. I won’t say that as you said, “even though I don’t see eye to eye with you on many issues.” NOPE. Allow me to say it has nothing to do with your personal self or mine for that matter, of course allow me to ask, when did we see two siblings not ‘disagreeing’ on a point or two? Disagreement per say is no issue. Rather it is healthy and democratic and I am all to encourage Debate and Discussion. And finally Didi mere ‘badappan’ nahin meri ‘khush nassebi’ aap ka pyaar mila or Bhagwaan se prathana hai milta rahe Hamesha

    aap ka Chotta Bhai,
    anil.

Monalisa says, “I have not interacted with you before but I just saw the news and looking at your location I thought I will send you this GB. I hope and pray you and your near and dear ones are safe. “

Wonder she has all the time in this universe to ask each and every person from Mumabi – if he is dead or alive? Huh….

Such are the people on this iland…

  14. Monalisa Smile says

Glad to know of your safety. Take care and have a great week ahead :-)

  15. ekantapadhika says

I get your point that as things stand, even when 50% or more voters cast a negative vote, the candidate who gets the higher number of votes , will still get elected.

  16. vivek says

i hope u and ur loved ones are ok, sir.

That was a disaster for Ferrari in Singapore. Starting ahead of the pack they could not get even a single point, its soo saddening. But surely the race was fantastic and I loved every bit of it. You do expect your fav. to win on all occassions but it was not to be Ferrari’s day. The re-fuelling error caused Massa the set back while Kimi, dont know what happened !

Sorry, firr aa gaya, abhi gaya nahi tha, isslie :) Mera complain Usha ji se mat kijiyega, warna bahut datengi :)

    Good night,

  27. Think Tank says

Naya post? :) It is simple: China is the rabbit, India is the tortoise. So China reached there faster than us. And China is not competing with India anyway, it is competing with the World! We were never ahead of the Chinese - never. But our space program is good and strong. Only we need some funding which we don’t want to give. China is funding all the major US financial institutions, and is pretty strong. They fix the currency and hence can’t be beaten. China and India can’t be compared - pineapples can’t be compared wit apples :)

And one thing, I have reached a near-conclusion, so will tell you too. You are 60+ and look like a gentleman :) I never knew that you people believed in “tormentors out” thing :) So I think you have kept those commnts to increase ur comment count - anyway ur comment count is always less than your most pruned down friendlist, as it is always a one-way traffic :) So I will giv u t benefit of doubt and let u have peace. Won’t come back.

    Regards,
    (Rahul)

Amit, thank you very much for making an entry in my GB and the good words. My registration to Iland must have been made in proper Mahurat, I am honoured with my GB having footprints (oh it is finger print!!) of Greats like you and other quality Ilanders. Regarding discussion on LL Blog, I wish you had not quit the ring. I would have whistled and shouted from gallery for some more time with some masalas…

Amitji, one’s expiry date can come at anytime, mine could be earlier than yours :)

Besides the thing of beauty, the soul is forever, at least that’s what I believe :)

  37. Sarath Chandra says

About the fertilizer industry, I would like to learn. I have no knowledge. But I am interested in participating if a discussion happens.

  38. Sarath Chandra says

I don’t think I have been “lucky to have been provided”, Amit. I earned it. Whatever is mine is “mine” and nobody has a “right to my means”, however unfortunate he or she maybe. If I am giving something to somebody, it is not because I think he or she has a “right” over whatever is mine. I think there is very little that is more unjust than claiming somebody who did not earn it has a right over somebody else’s properties.

  39. ekantapadhika says

Check your mail. Have sent photos of Kerala trip:-)

  40. Sarath Chandra says

–> Now assuming that whoever I am “helping” (I prefer calling it “investing in”) turns out to be a cheat, if a friend he loses me, which I think would be a very foolish thing for him to do because if he returns the money the worth of his relationship increases and I would be willing to invest more in him the next time he comes along. And by his cheating I bought myself out of a cheat’s relationship with what I considered an affordable sum. Therefore, I have one less useless guy in my circle. If it works out, I have one more useful guy in my circle. It is a win-win situation for me. Therefore, when I approach any situation I assume that everybody is acting in goodwill and let the situation play itself out; and I never stake more than I can afford to risk.

  41. Sarath Chandra says

My response to your latest comment -

Well Amit, I am against organized charity as explained in my earlier blogs on charity (under “Economics” in my Index). I did consider the possibility that the girl maybe a cheat a decade back. I decided that it does not matter based on the following reasoning. Firstly, I am a selfish guy and I don’t sacrifice. This effectively means whoever seeks help, a friend, acquaintance or unknown person I am not giving more than what I value the relation at. The risk/reward equation must make sense to me. That is my risk should be low for a huge reward for the other person (which also happens to be a huge reward for me in the form of pleasantness and a potential increase in worth to the relationship).–>

  42. Jolly Jacob says

All you have to do is take a ‘guru-dakshina’ and sit at her feet, phir woh maan jayegi :))) Pehle try toh karo ….. Tell her aap meri ’sifarish’ se aaye hai :)))

  43. Jolly Jacob says

Hey Ram! The ‘iceberg’ was only a metaphor ! :))) I think you need some serious English lessons from LL :))) (Iss comment ke liye maar toh nahi padegi na ?) :)))

  44. Jolly Jacob says

If sharing identities leads to predictability, then I’d rather keep my mystique :))) Jus’ kiddin’ :)

I find sometimes that even if you have known a person for years, if still end up not knowing much, what you see of a person is just the tip of the iceberg :)))

Are you back in amchi mumbai???
