Homage to Ancestor.
We should remember our Ancestors & seek their blessings. This time, Somvati Amavsya is very auspicious to pay our Homage to our forefathers. The Pitra Paksh is a period when we do remember our father, mother, grand father and great grand father on the Lunar day of their death. But it is not possible for us to remember all the Tithi of all the forfathers. So Amavsya is the considered as Good, to pay tribute.
Before any religious rituals, marriage in family, Jeneyu, Mumdan etc. we remember our forefathers. Their foremost blessings are as important as Blessings of God. That is why, Pitra Paksh comes before Navratri.
Anna Dan is MahaDan. if you offer food to any one that is Great & nothing is like that. Only human being is capable of growing Grains. And all other living being depends on. The concept of feeding to Cow, Crow and Dog is lying behind it. Number of Crow and birds are increased these days. New born puppies and calf is seen. Pind is also offered near River or Pond. This Pind is consist of Chawal, milk, etc. along with Til which feeds fishes.
It is the idea of our Rishi Muni to feed these “Cow, Crow and Dog” so as to they get proper development in the early life cycle and they do not become extinct for want of food. This is how we saved our nature, habitat and culture. Crow is considered as connecting link between Prithivi Lok and Pitra Lok.
Crow is scavanger of nature so protect crow, Awara Dog has vigil of house, shop and property if feeded since birth and stays near house. Though a person cannot own a dog but can make Dog a friend. Feeding not only own cow but also others too.
This is changing weather. This is transition period of Winter. Teekhur ki Kheer which is necessary in these rituals is a BOON to fight with diseases in these circumstances, arising from mosquitoes as they are hovering everywhere. Lizards get thier feeding.
So Life on Earth are busy with new strength and Stamina.
It is said that “Danveer Karna” donated money and everything but never donated “Ann” so when he died he is offered Gold etc. in Yamlok but not the Ann. So with special permission of Yamraj he returned to BhuLok and distributed Ann to satisfy the needy.

Nirvansya Pradipsya Sneh Sanvardhyechhiswaam.
He just misguided the Demon by His Saying while Shukracharya was performing Tapsya.
