Surya Shashthi or Dala Chhath is very popular and religious festival in northern India specially in U.P. & Bihar.
Sun is the sole source of energy on earth and only deity present before us. Worship of God Surya is very auspicious. Actually this is the time for beginning of winter so the Sun is prayed to give us life in winter too.
Surya Shashthi is observed over a period of 4 days. This is the only Puja which is offered when a God’s grace is declining and rising on both the occassion.
Men and Women along with children take a holy dip in river and offer fruits and sweets etc. in a wooden pot (Dalia / Sup).
Apart from religious importance this Surya Shashthi Puja is considered boon for those person whose birth chart (Kundli) shows Sun not in a good position or has Sun in Libra.
