Allahabad  : 22^nd July 2009 : Yeh Subah Phir Na AAyegi.

We Allahabadi’s were eager to witness Purn Surya Grahan second time after 1995. I have decided to get up early on 22^nd July.  Today Sky was almost clear till 6.15 in the morning, in Allahabad City & we were enjoying moments and calling neighbours. We were just 3-4 km away from expected path of Complete Surya Grahan in Allahabad. The difference is width of Yamuna River which is one km, and 1½ km from both the banks.

It was News that Badokhar (Allahabad) is dense with cloud, where it was expected Purn Surya Grahan. But in the main city of Allahabad, all the roofs & terrace were occupied by the residents. Most of the men women and children were wearing dark spectacles, some having X-ray film, some having Angauchha & Malmal to witness the Rarest of Rare.  All are watching TV also.

Every body is watching Surya Grahan, the Moon is covering the Sun gradually.  Beggars have started shouting “Daan Karo-Daan Karo, Grahan Ka Daan Karo”. Clothes, money, utensils were being distributed among the needy.

By 6.15 AM cloud started appearing and playing hide & seek with the Sun. Sun light has become dim but it was not a complete dark as it was in 1995. Birds started chirping with confusion that what has gone wrong with the nature. Either it is evening or cloud has covered the Sun as a routine.

What a brilliant sight it was as we witnessed 98% of Surya Grahan as one side of the Sun was more Open but the Diamond Ring was not complete in its dimension as we witnessed in 1995. Picture taken by mobile camera was not clear. We were using X-ray film which made the sight sharper. Oh! suddenly Dark Cloud engulfed the entire Seen. Alas!

We were satisfied with having witnessed the rare phenomenon of Nature.
