During Magh Mela at Allahabad Mauni Amavasya is the day when number of devotees increases in many folds; to take a holi dip in Ganga, Yamuna and Sangam at Prayag. Magh is one of the most sacred months among the devotee Hindus. The uniqueness of this festival is apparent since it is the only sacred day on which the holy men and devotee remain silent. Silence has great power to recoup one’s concentration and observation, if not complete silence but try to less talkative.

The Merit of Mauni Amavsya : Once a family of brahman was tested the devotion by God. A begger told brahmin that his daughter would be widow. And this course will be changed only if any one observe Mauni Amavsya Snan and Vrat and gives punya to the deceased. After the marriage his daugher widowed. So her parents gave Mauni Amavsya punnya to her husband. After doing so Husband of their daughter got life.

This year Manuni Amavsya falls on Monday, 26 January 2009, making it Somvati Amavsya. Surya Grahan is also conciding this day so its significance infinitely multiplied. Bathing on this day in the holy waters like river Ganges, eating selective food items like fruits or kootu-flour-made items etc, visiting temples and religious shrines and listening to the discourses of the holy men is said to be greatly merit-bestowing.

Bhishma Pitamah in Mahabharat narrated the significance of Somvati Amavasya as Who takes a bath in the sacred rivers on this day would be prosperous, free of diseases and would be free from grief and sorrow. There is also a popular belief the soul of ancestors will rest in peace if children and relatives taking a holy dip in the sacred rivers in their names.

Married women take the holy dip for a happy married life and for the long life of their husbands. They also worship the pipal tree on this day.

Taking bath on Mauni Amavasya day is said to give great religious merit. Aspirants come here and stay for a full mouth of Magh and practice prescribed rituals and ceremonial sacrifices. This stay is termed as “Kalpvaas”. Throughout the whole month religious discourses, kirtan bhajan and ’satsanga’ keep on taking place to the great advantage of the devotees. They stay there taking only frugal diet of fruits etc. and drinking some milk. Brahmans and other deserving persons are given Daan, as in Kaliyug “Daan” is highly auspicious.

14 जनवरी 2009 : आज दो मुख्य पर्व हैं. 1- मकर संक्रांति और 2- गणेश चतुर्थी : दोनो ही पर्वों का बहुत ही महत्व है. जहाँ दिन में मकर संक्रांति में सूर्य मकर राशि में प्रवेश करेगा और स्नान व तिल दान का महत्व है.
वहीं रात्रि में चंद्र दर्शन और गणेश पूजन का महत्व है . जो माता अपने पुत्रों के लिए आज व्रत रख रहीं हैं वो खीचिडी आदि का दान तो कर सकतीं हैं किन्तु गणेश चौथ का व्रत होने के कारण खीचिडी नहीं खा सकती हैं. क्योंकि उन्हें रात्रि तक व्रत रखना है-

माता पार्वती ने भी भगवान शंकर के कहने पर माघ कृष्ण चतुर्थी को संकष्ट हरण श्री गणेश जी का व्रत रखा था. फलस्वरूप उन्हें गणेश जी पुत्रस्वरूप में प्राप्त हुए. भगवान शंकर के मस्तक पर सुशोभित होने वाला चंद्रमा आज के दिन श्री गणेश भगवान के मस्तक पर विराजमान होता है. इसलिए आज चंद्रा दर्शन का अर्थ है श्री गणेश भगवान के दर्शन होना.

माघ कृष्ण चतुर्थी को पुत्रवती माताएँ अपने पुत्रों की रक्षा एवं मंगल कामना के लिए गणेश चौथ का व्रत रखतीं हैं. जातरी मे चंद्रोदय होने पर मिट्टी की गणेश भगवान की मूर्ति बनाकर उसे पीढे पर स्थापित करें. गणेश जी के साथ उनके आयुध और वाहन भी होने चाहिए-
चंद्रोदय होने के उपरांत —
Aum Gam Ganpataye sayaudh savahan Eiha aagach Eih Tisth

से आवाहन करके गणेश भगवान को प्रतिष्टित करें. पुनः मन्त्र से स्तुति करें.

गणेशाय नमस्तुभ्यं सर्वसिद्दिप्रदायकम.
संकष्ठ हरणं मे देव गृहानार्घः नमोस्तुते -
कृष्ण पक्षे चतुर्थ याँ तू सम्पुजितिम विधुदये.
क्षिप्रं प्रसीद देवेश गृहानार्घः नमोस्तुते -

इसके साथ ही गणेश भगवान को अतिप्रिय चतुर्थी तिथि का भी पूजन अर्चन करना चाहिए

तिथिनामुत्तमे देवी गणेश प्रियेवाल्लभे-
सर्वसंकट नाशाय गृहण अर्घ्य नमोस्तुते .
“चतुर्थ येई नमः ” इदम् अर्घ समर्पयामि

मोदक तथा गुड मे बने तिल (सफेद) के लड्डू और मगदल का नैवेद्या अर्पित करें- चावल के लड्डू भी चढ़ाएं.
चंद्र दर्शण करें और चंद्रमा को भी अर्घ्या प्रदान करें. क्योंकि इस दिन भगवान गणेश चंद्रमा को अपने मस्तक पर धारण करतें हैं.

भाद्रपद शुक्ला पक्ष की चतुर्थी को जिसने भी चंद्रा दर्शन किया हो उसे कलंक अवश्य लगता है- इस कलंक से बचने के लिए माघ कृशन पक्ष की चतुर्थी को जो भी गणेश भगवान का पूजन और चंद्रा दर्शन करता है , दूर्वा और गुड मिश्रित जल गणेश भगवान पर चढ़ता है , संकष्ट नाशन गणेश स्तोत्र का पाठ करता है उसे इस कलंक से छुटकारा मिल जाता है -

स्यमन्तक मन्नि वाली कथा भी पढ़नी चाहिए

Yes, Magh Mela begins. Kalpvasis have arrived. Allahabad is ready to welcome its guests and pilgrims from all corners of the country.

Lakhs of people will take a Holy dip in Sangam every day, whereas this number increases in many folds on the occassion of Parv. Paush is the first Parv of bathing when Kalpvasis starts their Kalpvaas. Allahabad has World’s biggest stage of public bathing. Shivratri being the last bathing parv. Elaborate arrangement is made every year by the State Govt. A whole new city is developed having Road, Bridges, Electricity, Sewage, Toilet, Water pipes, Telephone, Railway counter, Internet, means of transport, Fire Brigade, Mela Police, Mela Adhikari, Security Personnel, and houses for Kalpvasis made of Tent etc. etc. Big Akhara, Bhakti Charcha, worship of God, Krishna Lila, Ras Lila, every corner looks some thing different.

Makar Sankranti

Magh Makargat Jab Ravi Hohin, Tirath Patihi Aavh Sab Koi.

Aihi Prakari Bhari Magh Nahai, Puni Sab Nij-Nij Ashram Jahin.

After Paush Bathing the Next is Makar Sankranti, when The SUN ascents to Makar Rashi from Dhanu Rashi. Lord of Makar Rashi is Shani and Shani is the son of Surya. So father Surya will live in the house of son Shani.

Makar Sankranti marks the commencement of the Sun’s Journey to the Northern Hemisphere (Makar Rashi, Signifying the onset of Uttarayan) and is a day of celebration all over the country. As Sun moves to Makar Rashi Day’s time begin to expand and Night time begin to shrink. This symbolises the journey from “Andhkar se Prakash ki AOr.

In Allahabad (Prayag), devotees takes a dip in the holy river Ganga-Yamuna, Sangam and enjoy the Khichri event and Magh -mela. Kite flying along with the Sankrant festivity is also pre dominant. (Kite symbolises India’s Unity in Diversity. As most of kites, Manjha, Saddi, Latai is prepared by Muslims in Jaipur, Bareli.) Sweets, especially the (sesame) Til-Gud laddoo are prepared. During Magh, Til Dan is MahaDan.

Makar Sankranti is a Harvest Festival and celebrated as Lohri and Maghi in Punjab, Pongal in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and Bhogali Bihu in Assam. Sare Tirath Bar-Bar Ganga Sagar Ek Bar. So GangaSagar in Kolkata has biggest confluence of people on this day.

During Magh, Donation ie Dan, has great importance. Shastra says, what ever you will donate during this period specially on Makar Sankranti, you will get back it in many folds. In History, King of Kannauj - Raja Harshvardhan, is famous for his DAAN at Prayag on this occassion - Chinese Traveller Hsiuan Tsang has described in his journey.

Those who want Govt. Support and promotion as Govt. Officer, should offer Til while bathing in river or pond anywhere.

Offering to Sun God be made with Til, Gud and Red flower using Copper utensil.

Ans : If I get billion dollars, First of all I will transfer the money into my Bank. And then I will arrange a World Tour with family and friends to see different things, country, places, culture, beauties, monument etc. etc. by own eyes.

Ans : I have already fallen in love with My Jyotish Books and Computers.

Ans : In this situation I can’t do anything …

         But I have several innovative ideas, so the person have to think twice before liking someone else.

Ans : POVERTY : It can be eradicated by education and hard work. My moto is “Work is Worship” Karmannye Vadhikaraste Ma faleshu kadachan. Mehnat karne par Phal Avashya Milega.

Empty mind Devil’s house. So be busy and do hard work.

10) What takes you down the fastest ?

Ans : Just Nothing. Instead of cooling down I becomes Hot so I leave place for sometime to cooldown. I don’t like laziness.

11) Would you like to have the job you love or love the job you have?

Ans : BOTH

Ans : From this question : I love to attack on from all angles, so I will put up a counter question.

Ans : Bhai Santosh Neel has tagged me : He has a good pen. He thinks from the grass root. His poems are different. In my view he is a very kind and sensitive person. I don’t know why he is writing pessimistic poem. As soon as he starts thinking positively and writes optimistically he will be great. His poems are still very good. I always look for his new post.

Ans : Married and moderately rich. Money is the crux of all game.

Ans : My best pass-time is reading books on Jyotish and internet.

पुत्र का अर्थ इस प्रकार बताया गया है कि पुत्र वह है जो पुँ नामक् नर्क से त्राण दिलाता है पुँ नात त्रायते इति पुत्रः

एकादशी व्रत का माहात्म्य सर्वविदित है पौष शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी को पुत्रदा एकादशी कहते हैं - निस्संतान दंपति यदि इस व्रत को करते हैं तो उन्हे भी पुत्र की प्राप्तीय इस व्रत के प्रभाव से होती है . यदि कोई इस व्रत को करता है और द्वादशी के दिन परायण के समय अपने इस व्रत का पुण्या किसी अन्य को देता है तो भी अभीष्ट की सिद्धि होती है.

पांडवों को एकादशी माहात्म्य बताते हुए भगवान श्रीकृशन कहते हैं की ^ हे राजन ! पौष माह की शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी पुत्रड्दा एकादशी है - इसका व्रत्त और पूजन करना चाहिए - इस व्रत में नारायण भगवान की पूजा की जाती है - अंसार में पुत्रडा एकादशी के समान दूसरा कोई अन्य व्रत नहीं है. इसके पुण्या से मनुष्य तपस्वी, विद्वान, धनवान तथा पुत्रवान होता है

इस वर्ष यह पुत्रड्दा एकादशी बुधवार 7 जनवरी 2009 को है

इस व्रत की कथा का सार यह है कि —- पुत्र का ना होना दुख पूर्ण है और उससे भी दुखपुर्ण है पुत्र का कुपुत्र होना - अतः इस कलियुग मे सुयोग्य पुत्र की प्राप्ति का उत्तम साधन - पुत्र दा एकादशी ही है.

व्रत कैसे करें —-

इस व्रत में शालिग्राम भगवान को गाय के दूध से वैदिक मंत्रो से स्नान कराएं - पंचामृत स्नान कराएं - चंदन का लेप लगाकर भगवान को जौ अर्पित करें- तुलसी दल अवश्य चढ़ाएं पुरुष सूक्त का भी पाठ करें और शुद्ध घी से आरती करें. व्रत निराहार रहकर करें - द्वादशी को अन्न खाने से पूर्व किसी ब्राह्मण को अन्न खिलाकर तब स्वयं खावें -

विष्णु भगवान की इस्तुति करें —-

शान्ताकारम भुजग् शयनम् पदम नाभम् सूरेशम
विश्वाधारम गगन सदृशम मेघवा र्णम् सुभांगं
लक्ष्मी कान्ताम कमल नयनम् योग विर ध्यान गम्यम
वंदे विष्णु भव भय हरणं सर्व लोकेक नाथ म

विशेष — श्रावण मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी को भी यह व्रत किया जाता है

सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामया
सर्वे भद्राणी पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिद् दुःख भाग्भवेत .

Shani Amavsya ka arth hai - Aisi Amavsya jo Shanivaar ko ho. Shani dev Nyay ke devta hain, Nyayadheesh hain. Shani dev karm ke anusar sabhi ko dand dete hain.
