“GUARD SAHIB”

August 21st, 2008

This post of mine is dedicated to my sweet little friend, my loving Madho, who encouraged me to write it ..

It was our summer vacations and I was studying in class ninth then. I along with my mother had come to our village and was staying with my paternal aunt and my grand mother. Though it was a small village but it had a railway station. A few goods as well as passenger trains passed thro the village daily. Railway station was quite adjacent to the locality and railway track passed by the side of the village. I was sleeping in the open court yard of the house along with other family members when suddenly I woke up. I heard some one was calling some one loudly.

The voice kept coming I was wondering? What's that? Who is speaking? What that means? "Guard sahib", "Guard sahib", some one was continuously calling… Who was it? I came out to see and saw a man walking by our lane. He was looking towards all directions, left right up down back and front, looked as if he was searching for some one; his eyes were trying to locate some perhaps he was expecting some one to come. He was a frail framed man and was unaware about his physical self. He was wearing an unclean shirt and a pant, bare footed he was. He kept walking and soon he was away from my sight ,no more he was visible to me but his crying call, guard sahib guard sahib was still coming. For some time I could hear that and finally it faded away. Perhaps he had walked away far from our house now. I came back and tried to sleep for a while again. Checked, it was yet 5:00 am only. I looked around there was no one else now sleeping. All the beds and carts were empty. My grand mother, my aunt and my mother, all three had already gone to the fields.

After half an hour they came back, my aunt whom we all used to address as Behn ji had ignited the kitchen fire and was preparing tea for me in the kitchen when I went to her and asked her about who that man was? While sipping tea I heard her in total silence narrating me about the man I had seen and heard calling, "Guard sahib",

"Guard sahib". She told me that the man used to be the station master and was posted at our village's railway station. He is a true devotee of lord Krishna. Villagers used to call him as "Guard sahib". He was very famous in the village for his devotions towards the lord and every day after his duty in the evening he used to sing songs in the praise of Radhey Krishna. Many people used to gather there from the village and used to participate in those evening, singing praises, of the lord. He used to perform his duty from 5:00 am to 3:00 pm as most of the trains used to pass thro in this time period. As a habit he always got up early in the morning and after getting ready and before going for duty, he used to meditate and chant "Radhey Krishna ~ Radhey Shyam" for some time and only after offering his prayers to the lord he used to reach the station control room.

Once, while passing thro his daily course of morning prayers and meditations he over stayed at home and reached station late. By that time a goods train has already passed thro. For passing thro, the train was required to be provided with right signals and track changes which required manual operations and passing on the baton ring to the train driver and since no one was there at the station so the required activities couldn't be performed by him.

When he reached the station control room he received a message from the next station that the up going goods train has reached the station and the Signal Ring provided from your station to the train driver is being sent back thro the next down coming train. He was stunned, who waved the green flag, who handed over the baton ring to the up going goods train's driver, who changed the tracks, there was no one there and the control room was also locked. Door key of the control room was with him only and it was only he who had opened it after he reached the station.

He was confused. He was not having any answers. How could it be possible? that's what he was wondering. Some how, he contacted the train driver and asked him about all this.

To his utter surprise the train driver told him that it was he the "Guard sahib" him self who waved the green flag and handed over the baton ring to him. He also told him that while passing on the baton ring, he ("Guard sahib") flashed such a charming smile to him which he couldn't forget. He even talked to his co driver also about that charming face and smile which was heart touching and so warm.

The station master understood now, who "HE" was who attended to his duties as guard sahib there. Since that day he started searching for that "Guard sahib" and calling for him and is yet calling

What is Meditation?

September 24th, 2007

O God, you are the giver of life,
the remover of pain and sorrow,

What is Meditation?

Meditation is our attempt to discover our inner self, a place beyond the usual workings of the intellectual mind. When we experience real meditation we become aware of the infinite within and our own unexpected wealth of divine qualities like peace and inner joy. Many people may have had glimpses of meditation unconsciously. For example whilst walking through nature and being awed by its beauty and magnitude. Others may have been moved by sublime music. At such moments our mind becomes still and we feel a sense there is something greater beyond our usual perceptions. As mysteriously as it came, such experiences may leave, giving only a fleeting glimpse of a feeling that is hard to describe. Meditation is an attempt to make such experiences permanent and also deepen and expand our own consciousness.

People may take up meditation for a variety of reasons which could just be curiosity, a desire for more relaxation, peace of mind, or help in sleeping. Others may take to meditation from a feeling of disenchantment with the outer life. If practised with sincerity and regularity, meditation can give us relaxation and peace of mind but it can also offer more than we ever expected. Through meditation we can expedite our soul's inner journey and we can become more aware of our own spiritual dimension.

Meditation is absolutely necessary for those who want to have a better and more fulfilling life. If you feel that you are satisfied with what you have and what you are then you need not enter into the field of meditation. But if you feel that there is a barren desert deep inside your heart, then meditation is the answer. Meditation will give you inner joy and peace of mind.”

HONOUR MY MYSTRY!

June 16th, 2007

You can never see Him if you don’t see you are Him,
Could the water drop ever reach the sea
If it didn’t know the Sea is boiling inside it?
“Don’t speak any more,” He said. ‘”honour my mystery!”

GOD’S DUST

June 11th, 2007

Your idol is shattered in the dust to prove that God’s dust is greater than your idol !!?

His answers are wisers than our prayers.

June 11th, 2007

God will either give you what you ask or something far better than you wished.
Keep on praying and be thankful because God’s answers are wiser than our prayers.

I am crazy with pain, and no one understands it.
Only the wounded knows the pain of the wounded
saving the fire in his heart Only the jeweler knows the values of the gem,not the one who lost it.
O lord, Mira’s pain will only go when the Dark One is the healer.

It is raining in the month of Savan,
I like the rain coming down.
In Savan, my heart starts to pine,
I hear the sound of Hari coming.
The clouds have rolled in from all sides,
lightening occurs and it pours.
Tiny drops come from the clouds,
and I enjoy the cool breeze.
O lord of Mira, called Giradhar Nagar,
The cloudy season is for singing joyfully.
