Her little wings were wounded
each day
the strongest ever wind blew,
Her little wings were wounded
The fire may have smothered,
but the city still swelters.
The wreaths may have withered,
but their fragrance still lingers.
The nightmare may have passed,
but its memory still hovers.
The scars may have healed
but the pain still bothers….!
My tribute to the fallen heroes of 26/11.
TV eats up all my study time these days and I blame it entirely on Rakhi’s Swayamwar which manages to throw up a surprise each day and keeps me hooked. This spicy one hour reality show with all the ingredients of a thriller is totally gripping. From a father of three kids, to a wannabe celebrity, to an NRI the show has attracted every lecherous man who wants ‘fame’, yes you heard me right, not ‘Rakhi’, they all just want to be famous and this ‘wedding show’ gives them their fifteen minutes of fame. Let’s face it, which man after knowing Rakhi’s background would offer to marry her? None but the desperate! The suitors don’t admit that they are there for fame instead they swear that they are on the show to win Rakhi’s hand and for this they are doing it all, walking on hot coal bed (yes I am not joking), arm wrestling, bending iron bars, singing (braying…which ever is convenient), close dancing, modelling, romancing, dating, crying, faking etc.
The prospective grooms are so raunchy and nasty that the whole show looks like a third grade reality circus. While one guy had the audacity to kiss Rakhi twice, (hats off to his guts!) another went further ahead and openly questioned Rakhi about her past relationships and if she still is a virgin( I appreciate his frankness but is it not obvious she isn’t) This I guess was the most inappropriate time to putforth such questions. Luckily or unluckily for the two they got chucked out of the show. The game is simple, either become Rakhi’s puppy love or get treated like a dog. She chucks every man who dares to ‘cross the line’ like she puts it plainly. This show is certainly not going anywhere. I don’t know if any of them will make a good husband but one thing is for sure all of them are budding actors who have a bright future in Bollywood.
Rakhi is just not Rakhi on the show, she’s playing some village type lass whose soul yearns for true love but her hideous real avtaar makes a comeback now and then to scare the unwanted suitors away! On the “meet the moms-in-law” day Rakhi behaved so coy and sheepish that it startled me. Imagine a woman who doesn’t fear to bare it all (quite literally) in public put her pallu on her head to meet her prospective moms in law. Now howzzat! The ladies were bowled undoubtedly!
With only four suitors left the plot is getting murkier lol, I am just kidding, I was trying to make it sound interesting although its not. It’s obvious she is gonna either choose the rich middle aged Gujju NRI or the naive 22 year old college student. But what I am actually waiting to see is if she’ll really go about with the Swayamwar or complain about the lack of choices and back out from the ’show’ on the last day. You never know with Miss Sawant naa! There was even news that Mika was jostling to be a part of the show, Thank God he isn’t otherwise the security around Rakhi would cost more money than the sum of the entire show. lol
The other show that starts just after Rakhi’s show and which is equally entertaining is “Sach ka Saamna.” Man! Indians are just out of ideas, all they do is just copy-paste American shows with desi names. This show is just about decent, the funny thing is people on the show are indecent and their lives are just so screwed up! The person in the hot seat gets so hot by the questioning sometimes that you can notice little steam droplets on his forehead. It’s probably because Indians aren’t so open about things they do, their life is full of dark dark secrets which once let out could ruin their happy happy world. Questions like “do you have an illegitimate child?” or “have you slept with a prostitute in your life” will definitely put any man in a tight spot. So it wasn’t surprising when one guy who is a popular tele actor who plays Dadaji type of roles took the challenge and failed miserably. He apparently had three failed marriages, one legitimate child and one illegitimate child and a girlfriend, Wow! So much like a TV soap! Kambli’s Sach ka Saamna was really heartbreaking, apart from revealing some wicked facts about the BCCI, he spoke lowly of his best buddy Sachin Tendulkar and earned the ire of not only the BCCI and Sachin but all cricket lovers. Apparently Sachin chose to ignore Kambli at a meeting after the entire controversy and now the two best friends seemed to have parted ways. This is so not happening! If this is the result of telling the truth we are all better off lying for things which don’t put our friends and relatives in an uncomfortable position! Indians are still not ready for such shows.
And lastly the most enjoyable show, “India’s Got Talent”, this concept too has been lifted from “Britain’s Got talent” but who cares unless it’s good. Its truly delightful to watch talented people do their gigs with conviction and also funny sometimes to watch people make a fool of themselves like one guy whose talent was eating grass rofl. He even galloped like a horse. People I tell You! :)) The show is a total time pass and far better than other reality shows. There also my take on “Iss jungle se mujhe bachao” (Indian version of the popular British reality game show I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here!) but that in my next blog
Her smile only for a moment stayed
she didn’t smile at me again,
but like the sun in a London street
her eyes constantly played hide and seek!
As our eyes met once again
she made no effort to sustain,
and made it clear to me
“you are a stranger,
and that you’ll always be!”
“Never will this girl
allow me close” I thought,
even as my heart
for a walk with her besought,
yet not a step forward I dared took
just gave her an anxious look!
Apathetic she, hopped onto the next bus
not turning once to see,
while my heart constantly tried assuring me
“one day she will definitely walk with you
Don’t lose hope, my majnoo!”
“I have a very strong feeling that the opposite of love is not hate — it’s apathy. It’s not giving a damn.” -Majnoo!

He hypnotized Americans
with his perpetual charm,
he won a million hearts
with his appeal and warmth.
The color of his skin
didn’t matter more,
for the reason behind his win
was his unmatched candor!
He made no bogus speeches nor
did he make dubious claims,
putting America to the fore
he promised to usher in a “change”.
He held helpless hands
of the weak and the old
and placed their issues
at the very threshold.
With a vision for his nation
and immense love for Americans,
he pledged to make a difference
in the lives of billions!
Obama defied history
and made his place,
he is one man to whose tune
the whole of America now sways!
When hope leaves your hand
and walks away unseen,
When darkness conquers your land
and threatens to forever reign.
When ignorance clutches your wits
and your mind pays no heed,
When courage calls it quits
and lets you down in need.
When you begin to fear the crowd
and long to be alone,
When failures begin to echo aloud
and make your plight forlorn.
Then its time to knock the door
of the one you love the most,
whom you can count on for sure
to direct you from rough seas to the coast.
If your loved one cant help either
you are still left with one resort,
on whom you can always for help anchor
and that savior is God…

My Mother ..
She's like shade in the scorching heat
She's like breeze to the autumn trees
She's like rains on a barren land
She's like an oasis in a sea of sand
She's like a ray of light in a dark cave
She's like a flower on an a deserted grave!
She knows me in and out
She guides me when in doubt
She walks with me through thick and thin
Holding her hand every battle I win!
Without you mom
Who would have for me cared?
Little joys of life
With whom would I have shared?
All my sorrows I forget in a zap
When I lay my head on your lap!
Your touch makes me
still feel like a toddler,
I wish you never ever leave me
and stay by my side forever and ever!

PS:Dedicated to my Mom…HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
There's a magical mystery
besieging the night and the moon
Ever wondered….
“Where is love?” I quizzed the trees
