blameless fate

                                             THE BLAMELESS FATE               

                    Alarm
started buzzing right on to her ears; it is 11:30 in the night. Mabel had to
force herself out of the bed, half an hour to go; 27th October is Sasha's birthday.
Mabel has to prepare her favourite chocolate cake and gift wrap the 'E' series
mobile which she has got for Sasha .She had been following this particular
routine for the past 14 years, Sasha will turn 15 today. Seldom does Mabel
remember that she is getting old, only when she cares to watch her wrinkled
skin and the grey lock of hair. Now she is finding it difficult to run through
her daily routine like how she did it a few years before. She knew that by now,
her body is being tied by the heavy chains of tiredness; it kept on pulling her
back. Mabel started expecting her gentle friend 'death' at any time. She felt
that her life would be complete only when she reveals that truth to Sasha,
about her identity and her parents. Mabel rushes to get everything ready and
decides to take rest till it turns 12:00.It is then she spots an album kept on
the top of the dining table.

                  Turning the stained yellowish pages of her album,
she could recollect her tame less days of college life; An easy going
psychology student, that was like a paradox; any one would expect some level of
seriousness in a psychology student which Mabel always lacked. Memories stayed
fresh just like the newly bloomed roses with little drops of dew on it. One photo
showed Mabel tightly hugging on to a young beautiful girl, intimacy between
them was clearly seen from the very frame. 'Farah' whispered; Mabel with a
heavy sigh. Right from the time they were in orphanage till college they shared
a same apartment, not only the apartment; Mabel's love to Farah was so very pure,
immense and unconditional; till they parted ways when Mabel fell in love with
her class mate Mike. Farah personally didn't support the idea. She strongly
felt it was not the time to be in an affair. There was a point of time when
Mabel had to choose between Farah and Mike; she conveniently went on with Mike
which eventually forced Farah to go in for a different apartment. Mabel
painfully remembered how she sacrificed her soul mate for her love.

                   Situation worsened when Mike ruthlessly
ditched Mabel washing his hands off from all his responsibilities when he got
to know that she was pregnant. This was not what Mabel expected from him;
brought up like a bastard in an orphanage she couldn't even think of giving
birth to a baby to live through allies in there .She now had to pay too much
for her actions, she missed Farah's presence badly. Without having an idea on
what exactly to do, whether to abort or to even keep the baby; for the first
time after Farah had left, she could clearly feel the helplessness of being
born as a woman. She miserably regretted for having put a stop to her college
life for Mike. With all his memories haunting her; mentally broken down Mabel
finds refuge in drugs and alcohol. The feeling of loneliness had almost driven
her go out of mind. One day, she falls unconscious near a tunnel and was rushed
to a hospital, where she slips on to a comma sort of stage completely left
unnoticed; she had lost her baby by then, out of severe bleeding.

Two years
Later ..

                 Farah at the time in the peak
of her fashion career gets awarded as the best designer of the year. She always
wanted to do some charity if she ever got the award. It was like a dream come
true for her. It is out of her immense happiness that she decides to visit a
number of orphanages and hospitals. Quite unexpectedly, she gets a chance to
visit the hospital where Mabel had got admitted long before. Passing through
each room and spending time with the patients she made it sure that; none
should feel that she was doing it all for a mere publicity. In fact her Manager
had a tough time in keeping the entire programme a secret and avoiding Media
persons. She never dreamed even in the worst of her night mares that she will
get to see Mabel in such a pathetic condition. Farah finds it damn difficult to
stomach the fact that, the pale lean figure lying in front of her helplessly is
her long time friend Mabel. She didn't know on what should be her next move,
she desperately wanted to hug Mabel .Tears had already started its way down her
cheeks; Farah was scared even to hug her she felt that Mabel's fragile arms
might break down. She made up her mind that she would meet the doctor concern
immediately and talk about her condition even before she completes hr visit
with others. She was so impatient that she couldn't even wait. After long hours
of serious discussion with the doctor Farah settles down the account and miscellaneous
formalities at the hospital and decides to take Mabel along with her, promising
him that she would bring her for all the regular check ups and for sure will
continue her treatment. Meanwhile she gets to know what exactly had happened to
Mabel, after consulting the nurse who used to attend her daily; one thing was
sure that they shared a relation even deeper than the relation between a nurse
and a patient. Farah always restricted herself from asking or letting Mabel remember
anything concerning her past. She took care to spend ample time with Mabel even
in all her busy schedules; despite of all her efforts, Mabel preferred to stay
within the four walls of the room. She was scared to face people; Mabel felt
that she was the central point of discussion any where it is with the help of
lots n lots of counseling sessions did Farah found results in getting Mabel in
to her previous life they had shared back.

 Once free from that trauma, Mabel wanted to
move out; she didn't feel like seeking Farah's assistance in this case, because
she knew that Farah had already done a lot for her. It is just for a fun that
Mabel decided to trace Farah in her night outs; but that was truly shocking to
spot her with guys in many suspicious conditions…Being a celebrity in the
town even though that was quite natural, Mabel knew how Farah hated the concept
of being on date .Still then she thought that what if Farah has changed during
time Back at home, Mabel decides to surprise her by letting her know that she saw
her with guys in the pub. From her reaction, Mabel started feeling that perhaps
it was not her whom she saw that day. This repeated for the week Farah never
agreed to the fact that she goes out with guys, neither could Mabel believe
that she was lying to her. It is then that Mabel decides to search out for
Farah's personal diaries. Mabel knew that she had this habit of jotting things
down in her diary; that too daily .She felt that she could get some details out
of her diaries which would help her come to a conclusion. She felt that her
studies as a psychology student would also favor her in getting a clear cut
idea on what exactly happened to Farah. It is with lot of expectation did Mabel
start off her search, It was quite unfortunate that her efforts almost went
fruitless with spotting out just one diary. And that diary gave way to the
twist in Farah's life

              Years before when Mabel decided
to live with Mike, she never thought that decision would have this influence in
her friend's life as well. Mabel's absence pushed Farah in to deep dark sea of loneliness.
She wanted someone to spend time with but didn't want to live like Mabel. This
strong feeling in her might be the reason for the origin of dual identity in her,
thought Mabel. As time passed, this character might have slowly started fixing
its dominance in Farah; Mabel now had no idea on how to help her dear friend
out of this. She silently kept a note on Farah's behavior and her changing
daily routine. Completely lost Farah .at a certain point of time forgets to
come back home During those sleepless nights Mabel tries her level best to
trace out Farah .She was loosing all her hope. Talks about Farah slowly faded away;
she and her once flourishing career disappeared within a nick of time.

Everyone
forgot her even the media's (both the print and the visual).Her's was just one
another added on to the missing list. Paparazzi's didn't forget to cook up
stories about the mystery behind her when a few of them claimed that she is
dead..a few felt that she is kidnapped or perhaps killed for her wealth..Hers
was  not a different story for anyone A
girl who almost conquered everything in her career fan following .wealth..where
did she go wrong????where is she now????She left somewhere leaving a lot of
questions unanswered                          
                   As years passed
away .even Mabel was forced to forget her..her long time soul mate Farah.One
day she gets to know from some active workers of a social organization  that they saw Farah in one Lunatic asylum.miles
away from their town.This didn't create much ripples in Mabel's mind as she was
already getting used to such fake news.But she never left those news unnoticed
hoping to find Farah someday.She decides to leave in search of Farah with
whatever information she had collected from them.Things were completely out of
control there.Farah in her last trimester of her pregnancy never knew who was
responsible for her baby,she even didn't know that she was pregnant
.she,herself behaved like a baby..without taking medicines and food properly:a
victim to depression and suicide mania she had already tried to give up her
life even before.Tied to heavy chains,in dirty clothes,shabbily grown
hair,Mabel couldn't stand the heart breaking scene any longer.

She was
worried about Farah and her yet to  be
born baby.Doctors had completely given up her hope by then Mabel still having
faith prayed for Farah and her baby.Close to her last month of pregnancy Mabel
could find positive changes in Farah.She recognized Mabel.cried out likea
baby,apologized for all her mistakes..asked her to go back and take rest.Mabel
moved back happily expecting miracles to happen..Few days later,Doctor informed
her that she has given birth to a baby girl and that the mother and baby is
fine in there..She couldn stop herself from visiting Farah and their baby.Baby
was really cute like a little bundle of cotton..she looked pink with a few
hairs on her head she looked amazing. Mabel had to leave immediately for some
work from there Before leaving she spoke to doctor regarding the baby's and
Farah's health.She made it sure that everything was going  on fine.

But not all
things in life goes in the way we want:atleast attimes or almost all the
times..One fine morning..she gets to hear that Farah committed suicide. Itis
without knowing what to do with her body, whom to hand over did the hospital
authorities approach Mabel;the only link they had She felt frozen for a
moment.                           She
remained speechless..without knowing what exactlyto do;the only thing she could
say was that she would come ..

Within no
time,she reached the hospital there was no other question of she leaving
the baby to live the life of an orphan.She knew that life would be the greatest
punishment Farah's daughter would have to undergo..Mabel didn't have an idea on
to whether she would be able to pay full justice to her soul mate's daughter
and now her's too .Sasha..that will be my daughters name from now on .Decided
Mabel when the doctor gently hand overed the baby to her.Now after
years .revealing her and her parents identity and roots Mabel felt that
she has done complete justice to her and her friend As Mabel completed their
story Sasha broke down in to tears hugging Mabel tight than ever she had
