When experiencing a loss of motivation

We always start any activity with great enthusiasm and slowly that same excitement seems to vanish. Life’s plane takes off well but when we reach the sky, things go dilly-dolly and we experience a lack of motivation to pursue our goals. This is the time when you need to go into the reflective mode and think. Think about the objective you were pursuing your goal for, think about the benefits you would get if you would accomplish your goal, think about how many people would cheer you if you complete your task, think about all the good positive things that are associated with that activity. Thus, you will intrinsically develop and the lost motivation will come back to you. You can turn around all the negative energy into positive energy to once again feel the same excitement that you use to feel when you started your course.

The key to do this is to understand yourself and the emotions that are associated with you. There are many incidents in our life that we encounter and during this course of action we may lose our track of functionality and the motivation to accomplish task. The graph of human emotions has a lot of steep curves. We all go through myriad emotions. Some phases are euphoric and some are depressing. But like little doses of medicine here and there can keep you healthy, you need motivation and inspiration to carry on with different activities of life. Hence, on any threshold of life where one feels lost read motivational thoughts and quotes and talk to people who can motivate you.

Fun activities for summer vacations:

Summers are arriving and children have finished their schools. It is a good time to introduce your child to some fun cum learning activities. Sports and outdoor activities can also be a part of this. Activities like hill walking, trekking, canoeing, kayaking, climbing, caving can be quite a fun. Some of the creative activities include origami, poetries, sketching etc. Reading is one of the most activities however I am not sure whether children of today's generation are interested in reading because of the video games and the play stations that are introduced to them at this early stage. Try to inculcate reading habits in your kids. It allows one to enter the world of fascination. It is nothing but books that tell us about the importance of good virtues.

Creative and experimental cooking can be quite fun for children. Exposing a child to the sound of music is a way of developing their interest in music. It is a hobby that can be turned into a lucrative career as well. Gardening is yet another activity children love themselves to indulge in.

Some of the other fun activities that can be taken up are patchwork, pottery, candle making, embroidery, crochet, sculpting, weaving, astronomy, oil painting, dancing, hair dressing, knitting, fish keeping, digital photography, sign language, learning magic, foreign languages, writing poetries, yoga, aromatherapy, traveling, computer games etc. Parents must encourage their children to develop a hobby. This will surely help them in the long run.

Snow suit for babies (when on holidays)

Snowsuit, worn by children during the winters is one or two piece lined garment. Snowsuit helps to keep your children protected from the harsh weather in winters. Most parents bundle up their baby in different types of winter clothing commonly available in the markets. Parents who are going on holiday to a snowy place need to buy good winter clothing. Snowsuits are the warmest winter clothing your little one can wear.

For toddlers, a one piece snow suit can be a good option. Snowsuit with hoods is a definite advantage because it can provide adequate warmth and insulation to the child's head. Today, snowsuits with detachable hood are also available. Snowsuits are available in different sizes. Enough care should be taken to ensure that the suit is easily wearable. Most of the snow suits have two zippers so that dressing and undressing becomes comfortable for the child. However make sure that the child is wearing it appropriately to avoid any skin pinch while zipping the garment. There isn't much difference between a boy snowsuit and a girl snowsuit.  Girl snowsuits are available in feminine colours while boy snowsuits will be available in colours like blue, yellow and red.
Make sure that the snowsuit is waterproof, it is made of high quality material and that the hood is safe and detachable. Also make sure that the seat is insulated and has butt pads to protect your child from cold when sitting on the ground. And remember to click good pictures when on a holiday!

Keeping Baby Occupied

It is not possible for mothers to constantly entertain their babies and keep them occupied with a single activity. Babies get bored easily and may start crying. Mothers are always facing the challenge how to keep their babies occupied at the same time finish other household or office chores.

While mothers are cooking, talking on the phone or sending that important e-mail, your baby is crying and demanding attention. Mothers are running and juggling between the varied responsibilities that they share. Mothers are tapping their babies on their lap and working on the laptop or talking on the phone and feeding the baby or cooking in the kitchen and singing a lullaby for her baby. Mothers thus become extremely good at multitasking.
One of the ways to ensure that your baby will not disturb you for the next couple of hours is to feed him properly and trying to make him go to sleep. Following a schedules pattern of feeding and sleeping is important because once your baby starts following a schedule, he or she is prone to be doing that and you can be sure of those couple of hours of undisturbed environment required for working.
You can also put him in the playpen along with some toys so that he or she is occupied for atleast an hour. Changing the toys that your child is working with can also help to keep him occupied. Try to provide your child with toys that have light and music. This will help you to keep him or her occupied for atleast fifteen minutes.

Communication is the key

Communication seems to be the key issue to be addressed; be it in an organization or at home or in some other setting.

Parents are constantly addressing and communicating with their kids on the dos and the donts that a child is suppose to follow. The conflict arises when kids reach their teen and start to think on their own.

As parents, try to lay down the ground rules that are essential in the beginning. It is difficult to understand the teenage mind and how it will respond to different stimuli. So parents need to convey the fact that they are supporting their children. After all, even parents were once a teen. Do not get-a-high-kind-of-stuff from establishing rules and playing the big dictator in your family. Sit with your child, talk to them, be their friend-cum-father type of a support system which is much needed by kids of that age.

Take your child out for long walk, take them to places where they want you to come, and in these small courses, talk to them about life, about their opinion on matters, about their family, about their thought processes and how they think of you. You will be amazed how much simple communication can like that help parents to understand their children and children to understand their parents.

Remember, like a bird flies after he has grown, you too cannot control your child life long. Some things they have to learn by making some mistakes. That is the way they learn and grow and thrive on their journeys.

Concerns in times of depression in Children

It is not uncommon to find depression syndromes in children these days. This is mainly attributed to the fast paced and modern lifestyle that is posing these issues in front of us. Societies have transformed in such a way that there is very little emotional interaction between children and their parents. So, apart from helping your child to move on leaving issues aside, you also need to take care of his health. Indulge him or her in a sport, encourage regular exercise, maintain a regular and enriching daily schedule, encourage plenty of water consumption and fluid intake, avoid fatty foods and over consumption of sugar the craving for which might be observed.

There are many lifestyle management programs that have been started by reputed firms especially for children to address the growing concerns of depression and related syndromes in children. It is not a bad idea to visit these and meet one of the counselors there.

Also, encourage your child to share all the daily happening of his life with you. Keeping anger, depression, pain, sadness, resentment etc to ones own self can be bad for the health at such a young age.

Take your child out for a holiday. Nothing can be a better solution than this especially if your child enjoys travelling and visiting new places,

Sometimes incorporating little activities in house can make the environment light. Playing board games and cracking some jokes can help your child to overcome his pain.

If your child is old enough to sit and contemplate on his life alone, let him do it. Do not get apprehensive. After all no one can better solve your problem than you yourself, right?

Spanking children

It is true that inspite of number of people telling parents not to beat their children, they still do it. This is because parents feel that spanking children will discipline them. This is true especially in the Indian context. Willingly or unwillingly, parents tend to beat their children. However, the reality is that spanking invigorates violence in children and lowers their confidence and self-esteem. Even latest scientific research confirms that spanking teaches children to use aggression. These children are more prone to depression and acceptance of low self image.

On the other side parents complain that they feel so helpless that they cannot do anything but beat their children. There are ways and means to tackle this. First and foremost, do not spank, remain calm. Do not spank does not mean agree to whatever the child says. Parents need to be kind but firm. Show that you are hurt and tell your child that you will want to talk to him or her on this matter. Provide choice to your child such that they have no option but to follow what you say. Do not be illogical and irrational. Be reasonable and logical and explain the reasons to your kids.

Do not threaten your child with any kind of beating or violence. Do not instill fear in them. Explain your point to them logically. If your child has committed a mistake ask him to own up and apologize for the same and as parents try to solve the matter rather than jumping into conclusions.

Family support

It is undoubted that the biggest support that your child requires is from the family. This is where the child feels his or her comfort zone. It is a matter of safety and security that the child feels. It is the family and the environment that shapes the child. Here, children get their share of love, support, learning, dealing with emotions etc. Hence in growing years of your child, ensure that he gets proper support from his or her family. Family support helps a child as it makes him grow in self confidence and improves and builds his personality. Family also helps the child to learn things that he would never otherwise learn even in school. Indian values like tolerance and respect are taught only at home. Children who do not get adequate family support are not only shy and introvert, but sometimes, it even has effect on the child’s psyche. Some children may reach a stage where they become a loner. These children also become or in their communication skills. Hence a healthy family support should be ensured to your child.
This family support is like a banyan tree. It will help your child grow and since the roots of this tree and spread deep inside the soil, it will make sure that the child stays grounded. Another point which most Indian families lack at is the let out of emotions that is often not provided. Children just grow up in a strict environment. Though there is a lot of drama and over usage of emotions, there is no real let out of emotions.

Hardworking children

Many parents encourage their children to study and work hard. However, the measure of how hardworking your child is; is what the question that needs attention. There are parents who complain that my child is very hard working but his hard work does not turn into good results. Others complain that my little one keeps working for hours but remembers nothing during exams.

It is important that parents inculcate values of hard work in children, but along with that it is also important that parents teach children how to work smart which means that parents ought to teach their child where is he or she putting in efforts and where he or she does not need to put in that kind of efforts. Prioritization is another important virtue. For example, your child has two exams on the same day ' English and mathematics and you know that your child is weak in math then one needs to understand that more hours of work needs to be devoted to subjects or topics in Math rather than learning English which can be dealt with later.

Many students also have the habit of sitting with their books open and imagining something else. Here, parents feel that the child is working hard but actually he is only wasting time. If a student finds a topic difficult than rather than cracking your brains over it for hours, he can take help of someone who knows that topic well, this way your child can save time and work effectively.
