Democratic monarchy, indian gift to the world

Clear the path, Yuvraaj’s are coming

Mahabharat is a great epic @ 8 times more than combined volume of odyssey and Eliot together it ought to be what it is, a comprehensive and complete guide of human nature and psychology. With each nuisance and details of human behaviour being spelt out in the form of various character so aptly written that they are still significant in today's era, but hang on why I am harping this today? Surely ekta kapoor's trash tele adaptation of this great tale is not in my must watch list nor it will be in future but while observing the recent election result of the great Indian election tamasha I observed that Vedvyas had understood a very powerful branch of human behaviour tree called paternal love, we love to call it Dritrashtra syndrome and we all fiercely argue that we are free from it but alas that is not the case.

On the onset let me clarify that i do not have the capacity not any intention to doubt the calibre of our newly elected MP's and am more than willing to accept that they are the finest 543 people available in the nation to lead us (aah, how much I wish that there was no criminal or don among them but I figure that some wishes are meant to make sure that you have something to look for in the future) but there are few things in this mandate which disturb me to the core, but let's first see what are good things in the bag, firstly we have a much stable govt at helm (I am not sure how much this logic that "hung parliament is good as it keep the netas on the toe" is correct but I still feel that this poor nation cant afford to spend 12000 carores every few year to decide which king it will have for the next few year)  than we have a really decent man at helm, just a minute, is it because he spent a good part of his life doing something productive as a technocrat whatever it may be but that surely a very good thing. What else??????? Well many say that we have youths coming up in the politics to take this nation forward huh what a great relive people who are productive have the leash of power to take this nation ahead people who are under 50, 60 is a age at which everyone who is not in politics is suppose to get out of the workplace and spent his time telling story to his/her grandchilds about the adventure they had in life. often dumped with one day of celebration and testimonials from everyone around about how good he or she was in his/her life, telling you in no uncertain words that your life is as good as over now get lost but in politics its not like that 50 is the youth there, there will be ads in the newspaper on your 50th birthday urging you to continue screaming at the top of their voice "us oor zamana chalata hai jis oor javani chalati hai" reminding you that there is whole lot of life ahead to do big things and what not. But let's forget that for now we have a youth brigade in the parliament and they are surely going to take us places. But hang on is it really true that youth of this nation have wake up and ready to take the mantle or is it that yuvraajs of political families have come to age and have taken over the charge of roughly 1.5 million of their praja for the next five year? Rediff did this favour to me to let us know how many baba-log have been part of the crowd that will take the oath in the name of holy god or whatever they believe in to work for the people, by the mandate of people,to solve the problems of the people. So we have the scion of (i am using often used word so none of my imagination) Gandhi family of schindhiya family of saeed family of dutt family, of deora family, of patil family, of schindhiya family again, of yadav family of gowda family, of rane family, of Prasad family,of chaudhary family, and the list is just truly endless it will be even bigger if we add the candidate who lost the battle of rajgaddi  in some case even the Indian constitution was changed so that the young yuvraaj can claim his rightful seat even if he is was not eligible because of an absurd rule which try protect right of aboriginal tribes of that constituency, example are everywhere across the spectrum of our political parties and the most painful fact is that all those who fought so hard in the name of fighting against dynasty rule are doing exactly what they were fighting against that remind me the great story of premchand where son of a peasant who was so full of hatred against zamindaars become even bigger evil and chauvinist once he get the taste of luxury of zamindaar family, everyone seems to feel that no one in the entire universe is better than his or her son,  huh oh my dear vadvyas sahib how good and correct you were when you described Dritarashtra's love for Dusshashan. that was a blind love not because Dritarashtra was blind but because Dusshashan was his son, no no don't get me wrong I am not raising any question on the capability of any of these young and energetic MP's but how much I wish that other young people had the possibility and chance to serve the nation ok I know that the idea of being an MP has little to do with serving the people these days but still you can't say that in open and certainly not when writing about someone else. I mean tell me one person who can have the might and wealth of his own at the age of 26 or 30. Forget that without the might of his family or beloved father and mother who can fight a successful loksabha election today ? don't worry about the election commission guideline but you need at least 10 Mn Rs to do so and even that chances are that you will end up with less than 1 % vote (ask meera sanyal for details) so even if you win KounBanegaCarorpati and decide that you will spent your well earned booty on the election, chances are that you will end up an also runner or if I can borrow word of our beloved Prime Minister "a spoiler".

Bloody hell a decent professional will earn less than that amount (at today's value) in his entire professional life and even after spending his whole life's earning, (earning not savings mind you) you are just a spoiler!!!!! Now we all know why Manmohan singh himself can't win a loksabha election of his own, good lord! It's good that is not the idea of serving for many people, I mean please explain this to me, we cant have a meera sanyal or any other person who can call himself a common man in true sense to win a election, and please don't give me that crap of MP riding to loksabha in a auto or a MP having 12000/- as assest, come on bill of the tentwallah for a decent program these days cost more than 12000/- and you are telling me that someone campaigned and won an election in less than that ? Crap. I know the next explanation is that party spent money for candidate yeah that true and where do they get money from? I recently read somewhere that a charted plane was despatched to fetch Ms Mamta Banergee from Kolkata, cool so guys and gals we have the formula for you if you have less than half a million rupee and still want to fly in a charter plane, become a neta but than that's my point is can a person without a godfather (actually a real father) can win a election of his own just based on his personal credentials and money, armed with the wish and lust for power, can he win? Well answer is a big NO. I said lust because I have not seen anyone really losing his/ her sleep when he or she sees apathy and misery no I don't feel that anyone should do that because that's the human nature. after all it took the turn of their host to die which woke pandavas up to kill Bakasur by sending Bheem in place of their host (ah Mahabharat you shine life a bright torch whenever human psychology need examples if Pandavas the shining beacon of all good things in life don't do anything to save innocent life of common man (until it happens to be their own man don't even expect that from anyone of real world in which we live).  So all i am asking is that one should not feel bad if a young graduate want to be an MP and want to pursue a lifelong carrier in using taxpayers money for various things yeah I know it's difficult you have to face appraisals every five year (or any time in between if you and Prime minister are not so lucky soul) but what's wrong if one want to get into Indian Politics inc where should he start with? By picking up the daries after the jansabha is over? And keep doing that for may be next 20 year? neah people are not that patient, and chances are not available otherwise so what do we do ? we become indifferent yeah it hardly matter if it's our very own soft speaking sardarji at the raj-sinhasan or poet heart atalji if the tide turns and company decide that your fat ass is too big a load on the company balance sheet nothing can save you, you are of your own and so what's the point of expressing oneself on the election day what difference does it make if i am sleeping on election day (remember our friendly agar election ke din aap vote nahi karrahe hai to aap so rahe hai campaign), well I truly believed that we can do the change but this election were kind of eye opener to me the money the muscle and the political power that has become a prerequisite in india is hard to get and slowly but surely Indian politics will drift to the path shown by bollywood (as Omprakash majeetha AKA SRK realize in OSO, if you want to become superstar born in a filmy family, i don't like SRK but some time his fils do teach us a lot).

Call me a pessimist, call me a useless jealous dud, call me anything, but next time if I am sleeping on an election day please don't wake me up from my slumber may be i am dreaming about a nation where power is not a bapauti of some chosen one, dreaming of a mahabharat where eklavya is leading the charge and not dushashan.

Kuchh baat hai ki hasti mitati nahi tumahari

Mumbai

A city, A legend.

You can't express the feeling of living in this city in words, why? Because it's not a phenomenon neither a way but it's a kind of worship, worship of the only motto of this city "the show must go on". So no matter what has happened or what may happen you are suppose to do what you get paid for; be it acting, selling, begging, or .yes even if its killing.

Most filthiest city of the nation or may be even of globe if you are new this place smell like garbage which is the second most common commodity of this place surely after humans. But still those living here can't smell it. why? They do smell what you can't. MONEY.

And they don't think anything beyond that. probably the reason why you can throw someone out of local and still have 70% chance to get away with that. A city where stones are softer than faces.

But yet there is some thing here that's unique and works like sanjeevani to this ever bubbling city. Want to test that character? Probably that's what those terrorist had in mind. A place which can be thrown to riots because a bust was dishonored, surely 200 life's can be as recipe of disaster there. So here we were 7 blasts; half of the Mumbai lifeline dead; and all the news channels crying at peak of their voice about the blast and the reaction of Mumbai?  And what was the reaction Bravo well-done mumbaikars really well done despite the lack of emotion you have despite the fact that you are suffering all in the same boat you come out in hoards to help those left on road due to the chaos. Biscuit milk and what not giving away whatever you could afford and surely slapping a tight slap on the face of those looking for a rerun of 1993 blockbuster riots.

But hang on real Mumbai was yet  to unveil to you. Barely after 3 hour of blast someone was genuinely complaining against WR not to be able to restart the local train yet and more to that WR oblige by actually restoring complete or almost complete normal services by the next morning when mumbaiwallas were ready to go to their respective show to ensure "show must go on".

Next day morning at 8:30 I had a man who was traveling with the ill fateful local at mahim patiently waiting me to renew his permit so that he can stat work. It has been less than 12 hour since he saw tandav on track and here he was absolutely calm, ready to work and yes with no fear whatsoever to travel on locals. He was one among millions who didn't let wheel of Mumbai stop even for a day. Want more proof? well I received 3 calls for credit card request on that day which I turned down as usual (even I have stated to have something like a mumbaikar ) but not without asking them how come they are on job today. an answer which is still fresh in my mind was " sir is cheej ke paise milte hai hame aur paisa le kar kaam na karma ye jameer gawara nahi karta hai " (sir we get paid for this and not to do a work after taking money for that, my conscious wont allow that) probably the reason why this is the financial capital of nation and probably why this is city of most hardworking Indians I just hope that our leaders will also learn some thing from this and these people don't have to pay to be hardworking in future.

In the end I cant help but recall Iqbal's poetry "kuchh baat hi ki hasti mitati nahi hamari sadiyon raha hai dushman daur-e-jama hamara" (there is some thing in us that we don't parish else the world have been our enemy since ages) only irony is that its in all possibility people from the land where he breathed last who are responsible for this carnage.

Salaam Mumbai, hats off to you.

golmaal

GolMaal is a great movie, perhaps the best comedy ever by Bollywood. Story so powerful and close to your life that you can actually identify yourself somewhere in the film so genuine events and above all the way Utpal dutt say "maaf nahi main tujhe saaf kar doonga" just bowled you over and you make a mental note while watching the film that you have to watch it again and again. Just a minute did I hear some one ask "isn't utpal dutt is no more?" sure he is no more. Than isn't this piece is suppose to be about the new released golmaal ? Well yes it does suppose to be, than why am I talking about that golmaal????? Because etiquettes say that we should talk only good things about anyone and well golmaal have nothing good to talk about, no story no link of one thing to other and above all the confusion of our beloved director rohit shetty that what he wanted to make? a mystery, a youth "I care a damn" flick, an out and out comedy or what not. He made every thing in the end; he made a disaster on celluloid.

Ok we should not expect logic in comedy movies we should not expect them not to sing songs at most abnormal situation and we should not expect them to give old rishikeshda a run for his money but at least we can expect good songs (are yana gupta ka babuji bhi chalega bhai) shouldn't we expect a wire thin storyline on which things are moving and shouldn't we expect something more than individual brilliance? If you are rohit shetty your answer is you should not?

Story starts with four pranks puling off rabbits, elephants, dodo and dinosaurs from hat while doing mischief for their survival (no not roti kapada aur makaan but for wine and you guess it right jua) so they keep on collecting money from students don't pay for their ragada paav (or whatever I hate junk food of Mumbai cause its really junk) but sorry they don't have money to pay for their mo-bike repair and still prefer a mechanic who is DON and fan of sanju baba (why no one told about this profession to our other BHAI in Mumbai) who is always after them for recovery so much so that his name is vasooli (recovery) arshad manage to run from him by fooling him saying he looks like sanjubaba and can make it big in bollywood ;oh aftaab you were so wonderful doing it with johny lever in love ke liye kuchh bhi karega that this copy is just what kayamat is for "the rock".

Than finally one day principal sahib asks them to leave the college (he had been doing so since last 10 years) and they do. Why!!!!!!!!! because he asked them politely. And than story moved to the bungalow of paresh rawal (if you ever want to waste money sign paresh in your movie and ask rohit to direct it) where this blind couple has been waiting for their pota to come from America since last 22 years, they impersonate to be samir the pota (they because sharman is the body of samir and ajay devgan is his voice) they stay their with some more repeated event of comedy and in between keep hitting the hit man of another don on the mission to grab a sandook from rawal's house, why this don is after sandook, didn't I tell you there is a secret? And in between try to woo the neighbor rimi sen. And devgan being the leader of the gang always get lion's share (or should I say only he get share) from her. After what seems to be a long series of unrelated and 'comical' events. We are where we normally land up. yuppie a chaotic fight scene and if you are expecting something like andaaz apna apna or say hera pheri sorry dude you are in for a good bore piece. Where a remorseful devgan and party are determined to save dadajis treasure from this don and accomplish the mission. sorry guys guys & gals I can't tell you what the mission is, after all if after so much of feedback you still want to watch the movie you have to have some thrill (in other words why you don't suffer as I did). Ok you want some clue? Watch saransh (another great movie probably the last remain proof of bhatt saabs brilliance).

So isn't there is anything good in the movie? let me recall umm .. well yes tushar (I am sorry jumaniji I cant remember your suggested spelling of the name and so I am using as common man write his name) kapoor and arshad warsi strictly in that order yes tushar is a surprise package as a deaf man and prove the point that his acting as the good guy with bad luck in kya cool hai hum wasn't a fluke though he still has miles to catch ritesh deshmukh and I tell you this so that you don't get a heart attack in the hall. after all its difficult to get medical treatment and what's the point in disturbing fellow viewer who are in such sound sleep.

Ajay devgan is a real waste probably he is part of cast to show that sharman joshi is 10 year younger to them in the college , another great part of movie is that sharman want to be cancer specialist and so he is studying in "****bai college of arts and commers" what a noble solution for all the reservation tussle arjun singh ji are u watching? Some one can be cancer specialist by reading wali-miyan sheikh-peer, I mean William Shakespeare and no no vivek (he is from mithibai if I am right ) don't get angry and please don't take another morcha to producers house its not mithi bai for sure though I forgot actual name we already have enough problems in Mumbai.

But if you want to watch it badly don't worry go ahead a lady in the hall was watching it second time in two days at INOX (I tell you these gujjus have more money than they know how to spend properly) and she was also determined to guard the secret like me. May be I don't understand multiplex audience or may be she wanted to fool her family member as well. you may like it but if you do. please do me a favor don't watch original golmaal you will be sorry for that.

But if you dont want to watch this movie you are lucky.

355 in a day, 427 against a fully loaded Aussies attack, 94 for 5 and finally Australia need 83 to avoid fallow-on with four wickets in hands.

So finally Bangladesh has come to age in cricket may be not exactly but certainly a big leap forword. What a relive to jaggua dada that finally his commercial decision to give test status to Bangladesh has come good on sporting term as well although I am not sure if these kinds of things can cheer him in the kind of mess he is in but any way. This was reaction of many cricket lovers who love to see Aussies on the wrong side of barrel due to shear rareness of such occasion and two they don't want hard build records to be tumbled just because this cricket team is at the best a good club side and records are going in test history.

But Gilly have other ideas, this man is the best wicket keeper batsman in the history of the game and is certainly biggest reason for the kind of invincibility they have acquired over the year. each time they are in soup he comes in, use his bat as straw drink all the soup and bingo !!! we have another great Aussies victory. Each time since his debut against Pakistan, he has failed (as far as I can remember two series; against India in 2001 and ashes 2005 needless to say both are legendry and both have Australian as losing side) so this time also he comes in and certainly saved Ricky Ponting some severe blushes who is rapidly breaking all sort of records of embarrassment for Australia. Saving them trouble to fallow-on bangaldeshis gilcrist has hit gem of a century.

Finally today when I am writing this entry at 2.30 in morning, tigers are 282 runs ahead and 5 wickets down. in all possibility they will lose early wicket today and will post a target of around 325 which aussies will hunt down. But there is a slight only slight but a really embarrassing possibility of losing don't u remember the defeat of Australia against Bangladesh which is one of 11 greatest ODI's according to wisden. before the wonderers party of batsman. Ponting baba have proved that he is a captain of winners when going is good but if going gets tough he kind of close his mind and act as an spectator rather that a leader so If history repeat itself today, be sure of a grand party at Dhaka. after all coming to pituitary is not a small occasion for this cricket crazy nation.

madal part II

hi everyone

a very hot topic of everyone's life in India is (off course apart from regular power cut etc.) proposed hike in the reserved seat’s at IIT’S IIM’s and other Central Uni’s.
Well for the very first and final movement i want to make it clear that i am against any such reservation and that I belong to an OBC caste. although my reason are slightly different than those appearing in media i don't bye those “the Quality of these Institute will deteriorate” or ” the better way is to give them free coaching so that they can make it to IIT’s” or the best one from a student yet to make it to institute “its a known fact that Quota student normally drops out in first or second year wasting a seat”
let me make it very clear that I don't buy this deteriorate business, only if we put a cutoff for reservation this prob. will be solved. It's not the shear Quality of student but the environment as well that makes an IIT Grad the kind of gold he is. And as far as free coaching is concern will any of these outspoken Middle or Upper Middle class parent’s shouting at the top of their voice on this issue, can even think off sending their wards to a free school? They wont we all know. And to the student concerned about the possible waste of seat my only comment is, Kid please first make it to IIT pass your degree and than comment on such things.
during my brief sting at IIT I have seen some of my general friend getting kicked out of IIT and The “Quota” student going to Germany for their project and have faith it was shear Quality of the student which mattered for such selection. i know that its not the general story but to but all in one basket is not proper.

So Why i am against this reservation? well only reason is that this will only ensure a clear cut discrimination between students based on caste no one will ever accept any student from an OBC category to be at their par although the condition will be kind of 50 % reservation For remaining student but such student will always face the burn of mandal II and believe me there is nothing like a humiliating grin from a fellow student.

for my whole academic carrier i never used my OBC Certificate and no don't worry i am not trying to be a saint rather i could never use it because, in Navodayas there was a reservation based on ur location i.e ruler area student, during engg entrance my certificate was not proper (that fool clerk
) and IIT's don't give reservations to OBC (yeah it's a proposal under consideration) so I had to secure 212 rank in GATE to ensure a seat at IIT Roorkee. My first brush with reservation was at ONGC where I had to declare my caste and although they never actually disclosed that where did I stand in that whole list comprising of all kind of students who finally make it to ONGC all I can say is that I never felt les than them in any condition (I won the Quiz of the batch and one of my friend belonging to ST category was declared most creative officer of us all). But the first reaction I got upon joning from a senior was (he is one of the best chemical engineer we have here ) "look, it may have taken a bit less hard work for you to get here but here you have to work at par with general candidate's and no consideration will be done based on your caste " first time in my life I felt as if I was being asked to strip in public. I never asked for reservation and I was student of the institute from which this very organization recruited general student with much lesser GPA than me, but just because seats were reserved for OBC I was an automatic failure an underachiever in need of support from mr arjun singh at every step of life.

I don't want any student to face such kind of bias at such premier institute I am sure that these guys are capable and can make it to IITs and IIM's of their own don't let them down by reserving some seats many of which they will take of their own.

As far as the current hullabaloo is going on TV etc I want to know that do they find the supporter of non-reservation only. Can't they find even a single student who make it to IIT due to reservation and finally made it to some good place? Hey NDTV, Aaj Tak if you can't find any one contact me I have many friend which are success story of category students from such institutes.

And in the end I just want to ask a few daring Q's

Reservation is an unfair advantage Than what would you call a situation where a student is studing at Kota with best of faculty and other one have a BSc third division as his guide unfair isn't it ? and this bias is irrespective of caste I have seen students carrying cell phone but who don't pay even a penny for the fee and student who despite scoring more that 85% in 12th actually never appeared in Medical exams knowing fully well that they cant finance the course no matter what he do.

if any one is reading,
sorry to bore u with so serious and colourless chat.

The rathyatra and The Ramp

huh another rath yatra

i am not sure that ahy LKA want to defame or atleast detoriate name of a very sacred hindu ritual (when my mom is watching rathyatra live from puri even me, the darling of household cant change the channel) he can certainly use other words may be like pad yatra or may be samo other may be mr jumani will be of help i am sure he wil advise to spell rath yarta as ZRAHTD yatra solving all the problems . in any case due to high supply thse yatras and political drama (remember , ” i am not here for personal gain” saga huh biggest lie of them all i cant get it that how come that she or for that matter any polititian with out special skill set such as PC or our PM can do wonders with common man) the rate of such things have droped like cloths are droping on ramps, simple demand and supply rule of economics……..man i like serious science, they always work ;) . meanwhile another interesting oneday seems to be on card , despite the fact that we have to chase a moderate total i am sure that with the kind of batting we have we can do anything.

so folks keep your finger crossed, not for match silly another fashion week is in progress at delhi ;) .

enjoy

I witnessed a funny discussion today

Topic was the income tax and people around me were convinced that the amount they are paying as tax is nothing but a kind of ransom taken by government and reason? well they have to cough up almost 20 % of their hard earned money to govt for ;at least for them, no reason “dekho garib aadmi ko loot liya ” was one of many comment flying around and another one “jitna kai logo ka salary nahi hai utna to hamase tax le leti hai govt.” i really could not believe that this song of sadness is from people earning around a million rupees a year, they almost forget to see that we use all kind of national service’s like highways, defense and many other with this money. obviously and sadly we have to nourish our corrupt system caretakers as well (including political leadership, bureaucracy and inefficient work force of government) but isn't it help as well many a time ? most of us have used the corrupt system to get some kind of benefit and still we all blame it to system so easily. after all how many time we have tried to bribe a traffic hawaldar so that gross monetary loss is 20 bugs and not the stipulated 100 Rs. any way it was really appealing to see people mourning so heavily for 20 % loss in their income. none of them talk about the fact that 24 % of their country mate are below poverty line and still many more don't make that much (equal to their tax amount) of money working whole year or if i may say, working or searching for work whole year where we are heading to if people can’t pay 20 % of tax? strange but not entirely considering the fact that these were people who had no way to avoid tax (as many of other people do have in private sector, come on guys don't start that old gyan of inefficiency of govt employees accept that they are the most honest tax payers of country and reason is they don't have any option:) coz they don't have their entertainment allowance equal to 2500 % of their basic salary and many such really funny things to help them "optimize tax".

but still some of the point raised were really worth pondering, after all for a salaried person does it make sense to get all these heavy dose moral value’s injection only to get back to their home and see a businessman zipping along in his Honda city who is "garib" in govt. account because he don't have a form 16 to make sure that they cant lie about their income and hence they almost always earn less than 1 lack in a year (this help them to use most of the govt. facility, I can recall one of my batch mate coming in his car to collect the "lower income group scholarship" ) isn't its time to streamline the assessment of income for businessman's and farmers; oops did I call farmers oh my my they are sacred one the people who give us food and hence should not be even thought of being taxed but may I ask why ? a million is a million whether earn by an executive in an MNC or earn by a software engineer or be it bread and butter of our local grocery seller or a holy farmer in Punjab. But no farmers cant be taxed this is some thing said by lord Krishna in Geeta and due to some printing mistakes is not in your copy of the book but remember FARMERS CANT BE TAXED got it? good . and the consequences, well nothing much but this is the reason why many IAS and IPS officer become one of the most successful kisan of the nation once get to an malaidaar post and do the best of the dry cleaning for their money available in the town.

Dear Finance minister I think its time to get back to our tax net and widen it a bit more. it won’t help to keep tapping the corporate and form 16 forever.
