Request: Please read the entire story… STORY NUMBER ONE Many years ago, Al Capone virtually owned Chicago. Capone wasn’t famous for anything heroic. He was notorious for enmeshing the windy city in everything from bootlegged booze and prostitution to murder. Capone had a lawyer nicknamed ‘Easy Eddie.’ He was Capone’s lawyer for a good reason. Eddie was very good! In fact, Eddie’s skill at legal maneuvering kept Big Al out of jail for a long time. To show his appreciation, Capone paid him very well. Not only was the money big, but Eddie got special dividends, as well. For instance, he and his family occupied a fenced-in mansion with live-in help and all of the conveniences of the day. The estate was so large that it filled an entire Chicago City block. Eddie lived the high life of the Chicago mob and gave little consideration to the atrocity that went on around him. Eddie did have one soft spot, however. He had a son that he loved dearly. Eddie saw to it that his young son had clothes, cars, and a good education. Nothing was withheld. Price was no object. And, despite his involvement with organized crime, Eddie even tried to teach him right from wrong. Eddie wanted his son to be a better man than he was. Yet, with all his wealth and influence, there were two things he couldn’t give his son; he couldn’t pass on a good name or a good example One day, Easy Eddie reached a difficult decision. Easy Eddie wanted to rectify wrongs he had done. He decided he would go to the authorities and tell the truth about Al ‘Scarface’ Capone, clean up his tarnished name, and offer his son some semblance of integrity. To do this, he would have to testify against The Mob, and he knew that the cost would be great. So, he testified. Within the year, Easy Eddie’s life ended in a blaze of gunfire on a lonely Chicago Street. But in his eyes, he had given his son the greatest gift he had to offer, at the greatest price he could ever pay. Police removed from his pockets a rosary, a crucifix, a religious medallion, and a poem clipped from a magazine. The poem read: ‘The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in time. For the clock may soon be still.’ STORY NUMBER TWO World War II produced many heroes. One such man was Lieutenant Commander Butch O’Hare. He was a fighter pilot assigned to the aircraft carrier Lexington in the South Pacific. One day his entire squadron was sent on a mission. After he was airborne, he looked at his fuel gauge and realized that someone had forgotten to top off his fuel tank. He would not have enough fuel to complete his mission and get back to his ship. His flight leader told him to return to the carrier. Reluctantly, he dropped out of formation and headed back to the fleet. As he was returning to the mother ship, he saw something that turned his blood cold; a squadron of Japanese aircraft was speeding its way toward the American fleet. The American fighters were gone on a sortie, and the fleet was all but defenseless. He couldn’t reach his squadron and bring them back in time to save the fleet. Nor could he warn the fleet of the approaching danger. There was only one thing to do. He must somehow divert them from the fleet. Laying aside all thoughts of personal safety, he dove into the formation of Japanese planes. Wing-mounted 50 caliber’s blazed as he charged in, attacking one surprised enemy plane and then another. Butch wove in and out of the now broken formation and fired at as many planes as possible until all his ammunition was finally spent. Undaunted, he continued the assault. He dove at the planes, trying to clip a wing or tail in hopes of damaging as many enemy planes as possible, rendering them unfit to fly. Finally, the exasperated Japanese squadron took off in another direction. Deeply relieved, Butch O’Hare and his tattered fighter limped back to the carrier. Upon arrival, he reported in and related the event surrounding his return. The film from the gun-camera mounted on his plane told the tale… It showed the extent of Butch’s daring attempt to protect his fleet.. He had, in fact, destroyed five enemy aircraft. This took place on February 20, 1942, and for that action Butch became the Navy’s first Ace of W..W.II, and the first Naval Aviator to win the Congressional Medal of Honor. A year later Butch was killed in aerial combat at the age of 29. His home town would not allow the memory of this WW II hero to fade, and today, O’Hare Airport in Chicago is named in tribute to the courage of this great man. So, the next time you find yourself at O’Hare International, give some thought to visiting Butch’s memorial displaying his statue and his Medal of Honor. It’s located between Terminals 1 and 2. SO WHAT DO THESE TWO STORIES HAVE TO DO WITH EACH OTHER? Butch O’Hare was ‘Easy Eddie’s’ son
How would you feel and act right now if you had everything you wanted? Well, let’s just pause for a moment and visualise this: right now, see yourself acting as if you did have everything you wanted. See yourself acting in that way; capture the feeling of completeness and satisfaction that you would have. Luxuriate in that thought… What a wonderful feeling that is, and it is possible!
But let’s first ask ourselves how do we manifest prosperity? It is a fact that prosperity begins in mind. First as an idea, and then it comes into form. Thoughts are things and your thoughts create your reality. This, then, is absolutely true and in exact correlation with having enormous wealth and prosperity in your life. You can only have things that are in harmony with your thoughts. The great spiritual truth in regard to our wealth and prosperity is that God is the source and substance of your supply and people are merely channels! Well, it’s true on this human plane that it is people who hire us for our jobs, give us our paychecks, our bonuses and the like, but it is God that is the one true source.
When you are aware of this wonderful spiritual truth and incorporate that into your consciousness, you will begin to stop holding onto people, jobs and things so tenaciously and fearfully because they actually represent only one of many, many channels available to us. Stop giving your power away to these people and things and affirm, “This or something better.” Ease up. When we meditate and pray for more wealth and abundance in our lives, we don’t necessarily know where it’s going to come from and we don’t need to know.
To get more prosperity in your life you should affirm that you are prosperous. For those of you who are not familiar with affirmations or why they are important to your success, just think of them as positive statements that we can use to change our mind, belief system, attitudes and actions and therefore get the results we want.
A fabulous affirmation for prosperity would be: “By day and by night, i am being prospered in all my ways!” Another great affirmation is, “I am now, in the process of attracting greater abundance, prosperity and success into my life in everything i am undertaking!”
Each one of us has the gift of free will or the freedom to think whatever thoughts we choose to concentrate on most throughout each day. Ask yourself right now what thoughts are you concentrating on right now? Are you thinking about prosperity and success in your life or are you thinking about lack and limitation? Your environment and your feelings will let you know exactly what you are thinking because they are an exact replica of your thoughts and beliefs. It’s true that no one can think of prosperity all day long and we are all in agreement there.
As Emerson said, “A man is what he thinks about all day long.” Your primary thoughts, the ones you concentrate on most, will be what you will see in the people you attract to you as well as in your life circumstances. One of the most popular sayings is ‘change your thoughts and change your life,’ but, of course, Rome wasn’t built in a day! It will take time to replace your habitual thoughts that are negative to more positive ones, but you can do it!
Domenic Polifrone once said if we wanted a new car that we needed to go down to the showroom and test drive it. He said it didn’t matter if we didn’t have one penny in the bank. Just go down to that showroom, get behind the wheel of that car and test drive it! Get a few brochures to keep. See and feel yourself driving and owning this beautiful, new car. Get into the consciousness of “i am prosperity and i am in the process of buying and owning this beautiful, new car!” Try it. This experiment works! Your mind is one of your most prized possessions. It has been said that you are the architect of your life.
Ask yourself right now what kind of life are you building for yourself? A magnificent life or a limited life? Everything that has been available to everyone is also available to you. There is a wonderful quote which underscores this fact. He said, “No one is superior to what you might become!”
Start knowing that the potentiality of one is the potentiality of all. If anybody has wealth you can have wealth; if anybody has a beautiful home, you can have a beautiful home. Life is a state of consciousness. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Change your consciousness and change your world

Golden Temple - when uttered this word, immediately people thinks of Amritsar and the Highest Body of the Sikh’s pride Golden Temple. But now it has got a good competition! Yes, an estimated over 600 Crores of Indian Rupees spent, to construct a true Golden Temple for Goddess Mahalakshmi, the presiding deity, (installed and maintained by Sri Narayani Peedam) in this Temple at Sripuram, which is situated 6 km away from the District Headquarters - Vellore, North Arcot District in Tamilnadu. Now, the temple is complete, open to the general public; this town Sripuram has all the facilities one can visit to enjoy his/her spiritual experience.
A Mahalakshmi temple called ‘Sripuram’ and made of more than a ton of pure gold will glitter and gleam under the sun on August 24 when it is unveiled for consecration by the Sri Narayani Peetam headed by a 31-year-old godman who calls himself Narayani Amma. Devotees hail the temple as ‘one of the wonders of the world’ and say that it is the only temple covered fully with gold.
More than 400 gold and coppersmiths from the Tirupathi Thirumala Devasthanam are said to have worked for six years to craft the Rs. 600-crore golden temple located on 55,000 sq ft of land on a 100-acre salubrious stretch in Malaikodi, about 6 km from Vellore in north Tamil Nadu. According to official sources, the gold bars were purchased through RBI in “a transparent manner ”
First the coppersmiths set to work creating a copper base on the temple structure with engravings and etchings before the gold, beaten into nine layers of foils, was draped around it. The sanctum sanctorum will hold the deity of Mahalakshmi made of stone granite, but covered with gold protection layers. (Kavacham - adornments).
” The Sripuram or Spiritual Park is Amma’s dedication to the world and mankind,” said P Murali, a trustee of the Peetam, adding that the temple has more gold than the Golden Temple of Amritsar.
Messages by ‘Amma’ have been laid out along the path to the temple with messages from the Gita, Bible and Quran. “When one enters the Sripuram, their focus is just on the magnificent temple. But when they leave, they cannot do so without taking some messages and gaining some wisdom,” according to a booklet detailing the ’services’ rendered by the Peetam. “In this quagmire of materialism, Sripuram rises as an inspiration to man to find the divinity within him,” adds a Narayani Peedam brochure.
The arrangements were being made to hire personnel to throw a security cover around the temple. “But the gold sheets have been laid out in such a manner that it would cost more to rip it off than purchase the gold,” said a top Vellore district official.

An emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his children, he decided something different. He called young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, “It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you.”
The kids were shocked! But the emperor continued. “I am going to give each one of you a seed today. One very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it and come back here after one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next emperor!”
One boy named Ling was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly told his mother the story. She helped him get a pot and planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it carefully. Every day he would water it and watch to see if it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other youths began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.
Ling kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks went by. Still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants but Ling didn’t have a plant, and he felt like a failure. Six months went by, still nothing in Ling’s pot. He just knew he had killed his seed.
Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Ling didn’t say anything to his friends, however. He just kept waiting for his seed to grow.
A year finally went by and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection. Ling told his mother that he wasn’t going to take an empty pot. But honest about what happened, Ling felt sick to his stomach, but he knew his mother was right.
He took his empty pot to the palace. When Ling arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other youths. They were beautiful in all shapes and sizes. Ling put his empty pot on the floor and many of the other kinds laughed at him. A few felt sorry for him and just said, “Hey nice try.”
When the emperor arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted the young people. Ling just tried to hide in the back. “What great plants, trees and flowers you have grown,” said the emperor. “Today, one of you will be appointed the next emperor!” All of a sudden, the emperor spotted Ling at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered his guards to bring him to the front. Ling was terrified. “The emperor knows I’m a failure! Maybe he will have me killed!”
When Ling got to the front, the Emperor asked his name. “My name is Ling,” he replied. All the kids were laughing and making fun of him. The emperor asked everyone to quiet down. He looked at Ling, and then announced to the crowd, “Behold your new emperor! His name is Ling!” Ling couldn’t believe it. Ling couldn’t even grow his seed. How could he be the new emperor?
Then the emperor said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds, which would not grow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new emperor!”

Col Johann Bach, a high-ranking officer in Hitler's elite Waffen SS (Schutzstaffel), was absconding for more than 50 years. He had moved into Calangute in Goa a few months back and had settled down under a fake identity. The German sleuths, assisted by Indian intelligence men, managed to zero in on Bach on Friday morning in Bardesh region of Goa. Bach tried to give them a slip. But the German sleuths finally managed to nab Bach after a 36-hour hot chase in the Khanapur forests on Saturday. Colonel Bach belonged to Waffen SS, the armed wing of SS as Schutzstaffel was known.

A painter, an adventurer, nature lover, philanthropist, a social entrepreneur to name a few K.Chandrasekhar is a visages of a multi personality amazingly put into one. He started his career as a Chitrakala Parishad student in fine arts specializing into portraits despite having a science background and gradually found that his interest lies more in proximity with nature. He developed a passion for photography on exotic nature locale and an innate eye for the flora and fauna. Being born in a family of Forest officers has its advantages, exposure to Nature was in abundance, and falling in Love with Nature was obvious. Wanted to be with nature, what was a passion turned into a Profession Gradually he realized that being one with nature is a great way to unwind oneself from the urban work life and also a very appealing way to distress oneself with private moments in the surrounding of dense greenery. The idea of setting up a training school into wilderness training soon over took him and thus "ESCAPE "an out bound training company was born in the summer of 69. The organization has trained so far over 10,000 people and is dealing in specialized training in wilderness. Unlike most of the OBT programmes which are usually done at resorts ESCAPE strictly conducts its training in the midst of greenery in the wilderness. Apart from imparting professional adventure courses like rock climbing, Mountaineering, river rafting, bungee jumping, he has a team of yoga therapist and an assort of equipments meant for management games which enable the participants to build awareness of their own inner strengths and abilities away from the classroom or office environment. Today ESCAPE prides itself in having a majority of the fortune 500 companies as clients like IBM, YAHOO, HCL, TYCO, etc. A study on these types of training states that people are very open and receptive to the learning as they are not defensive but more relaxed and off guard in the natural environment where all the artificial barriers of hierarchy melts away. Therefore the participants are able to relate themselves to the training and have lots of fun. According to Chandrashekar it's a process of learning, unlearning and re-learning. People are able to assess themselves more on their emotional quotient and innate abilities away from the designations and qualification tags based on logical reasoning, common sense and life skills. This greatly enhances productivity and builds phenomenal confidence in people encouraging them to come out of their baggages and limitations and redefine their outlook to every aspects of their activity in life. In order to make this an exciting and productive experience he spends a lot of time with each client trying to understand their needs and training outcomes before finally sending out the training design. "Like any start up company: - it was tough to make client's believe in the concept of alienating the employees from the comfort zone of their work place to a unknown Wilderness location. They were reluctant at first but soon employer's need to de-stress and to give boost to their individual productivity gradually stood and the HR was more open to these programmes when they started to get the visibility of the results". - Chandrashekar The unique part of the training modules are that the content in each programme is client specific and customized with focused with key result areas. It is always power packed with case studies and plenty of management games. This gradually leads to "ENTROPY "in the organization. Some of the brands he has created Trek n Camp: this is for beginners and hardcore participants into the Himalayas Parent & Children Bonding camp: A parents and children bonding programme. This enables parents to get closer to their children in a liberated environment KIDS STUDIOS' This is a summer camp meant for students and kids. In these camps children are made aware of the traditional medicine and home remedies with the flora in the surroundings and the biodiversity. This build affinity with the natural environment and kids are taught to appreciate its value. Children are allowed even plough fields, plant saplings in their name so that they keep coming back to nurture them, Winners NOT Survivors: This is a camp meant for the corporate Corporate ESCAPE- Advance training for executives All the above are highly experiential learning and the objective is channelizing Positive aggression in the young and the old into positive energy and make them competent to face the tough urban criteria which is ever demanding . He has been consistently working on at least 2 major projects every year for the underprivileged and handicapped children "The best part is yet to come after the launch of my latest training project in April "he says gleefully at his sprawling 10 acres training centre at Channapatna with state of art facility. The project will bring responsible attitude among the young and environmental awareness .Its important for people to know that how much we are dependent on the eco-systems and how we are abusing it. With the alarming global warming concerns all over the world here is one crusader who is making a difference to the world with his own way by educating people on the benefits of the nature and its long standing impact on our lives through his training programmes.

From the rice paddies of Asia to the wheat fields of Australia, the soaring price of food is breaking the budgets of the poor and raising the spectres of hunger and unrest, experts warn.
A billion people in Asia are seriously affected by the surging costs of daily staples such as rice and bread, the director general of the Asian Development Bank, Rajat Nag, has said.
“This includes roughly about 600 million people who live on just under a dollar a day, which is the definition of poverty, and another 400 million who are just above that borderline,” he said.
Globally, the World Bank last month estimated that 33 countries were threatened with political and social unrest because of the skyrocketing costs of food and energy.
India’s top farm scientist and architect of the 1960s “Green Revolution,” M S Swaminathan, has said India needs a second agricultural revolution to boost food supplies or face huge social turmoil.
Across Asia, workers made a campaign against high food prices their May Day battle cry last Thursday in marches through cities including the capitals of Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.
While the demonstrations were mainly peaceful, concern is growing over the potential for political instability and unrest if high prices persist.
“Once people get hungry they start also getting quite desperate and take desperate measures,” Damien Kingsbury of Australia’s Deakin University said.
Experts blame the high food prices on a confluence of factors, including increased demand from a changing diet in Asia, droughts, the rising use of crops for biofuels, and growing energy and fertiliser costs.
In Australia, which usually ranks second after the United States as a global wheat exporter, several years of drought cut harvests to just 13 million tonnes last year from an average of 22 million tonn
So while consumers are struggling, Australian farmers are not getting rich on the backs of the poor, said National Farmers Federation chief executive Ben Fargher.
“It’s been the worst drought in our history and many, many farming families are under significant financial and emotional stress and it will take our communities a long time to recover,” he said.
And even in a relatively prosperous country like Australia, people are feeling the squeeze in the supermarkets, prompting the government to launch an inquiry into how to stem rising grocery prices. The UNDP has projected that if the growing trend of people in ASIA spending 50% of their income on food continues then the clock will be reset on poverty alleviation by 10 years and millions will die due to starvation and malnutrition in Asia and Africa alone by 2008-9 This is a wake up call for all of us. We have to take to serious consideration for the improvement of Indian farmers and how agriculture works in India .We have to promote urgently a)Organic farming ' promote aggressively and bring this concept under as many land area as possible with traditional farming practices. b) Kitchen farming ' to create self sustaining nutritional food substitutes c) Fight against hoarding of food grains. d) Microfinance privileges ' relieve farmers from debts urgently and finance them adequately.Stop the trend of mass suicides by farmers. e) Second green revolution -Do everything that is possible to support usher in the revolution. Give a big helping hand to our famers NOW so that we can tide over the food crisis that is likely to worsen in the coming months and save millions of lives while there is still time . .

Anaylsing Your Style How do you lead your group? What is your attitude to both them and the task at hand? Impoverished Management (low concern for the task, low concern for people). This style is characterised by minimal effort on your part, just enough to get the job done and maintain the group structure. “I’ll just let them get on with it, I’m sure they’ll do fine, they don’t really want me interfering anyway” Country Club Management (low concern for the task, high concern for people). You take good care of your group, ensuring a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. You hope this will lead to the work getting done. “It stands to reason, if they’re happy they’ll work harder and the work will take care of itself.” Authority/Obedience Management (high concern for task, low concern for people). You are probably a bit of a task master. The most important thing is the work. You lead from behind by driving the group in front of you. “We’re here to work, the work needs to be done. If they’re working hard enough they won’t have time to feel unhappy, they’re not here to enjoy themselves.” Team Management (high concern for task, high concern for people). You see the completeion of the task and the well being of the group as interdependent through a common stake in the organisation’s future. This leads to relationships built on trust and respect, and work accomplishment from committed employees. “We’re in this together. We need to support and help each other to get this job done.” It is generally accepted that group leaders who have a Team Management style are the most effective, though this is not always the case. Style Choice If you have a group of widely differing levels of ability, confidence and commitment, you may want to lead them each with a different style. Directing A team member who has a lot of enthusiasm for the job but not much actual ability, for example a new start, will need to be directed. You will not need to spend much time giving encouragement or coaxing them along. You will however have to tell them what to do next after they complete every task, and how to do the tasks set. Coaching After being in the group for a while, somebody might begin to lose confidence and therefore motivation, as they still can’t seem to do the work they want to do. At this stage you will need to coach them along. You will still need to tell them what to do at virtually every point along the way, while taking care to encourage them and praise them at every turn. Supporting Gradually the team member’s technical ability will increase until they are at a stage where they can actually do everything required of them, however they may still lack the confidence to actually do it off their own backs. You should no longer have to tell them what to do, although they may think otherwise. You should seek their opinions on the next stage, and be seen to take notice of their ideas. Delegating A technically competent person’s confidence will gradually grow until they feel able to work completely on their own. You should now be able to delegate specific areas of work to them and feel little need to tell them either what to do or to praise them as frequently for doing it. The time that you don’t have to spend “leading” these members of the group can be spent with the less experienced group members, or on the work that you need to do.
