My first journal publication is in print now!

It is just a small achievement like a rain-drop to an ocean, but it’s very much special to me. Yes, its my first scientific achievement, a research paper, which has come in print (accepted for publication last October) in number 1 journal (related to space heat transfer), thus acknowledging my entry into the elite’s group. I thank my guide, Prof. Katte, and my friend, a final year B.Tech Mechanical Engineering student S. Abishek (co-author, a moment for both of us to cherish in days to come!) in achieving this feet. I wish, our collaboration will lead to many research findings in future.

Frequent blogger

Govt. of India has banned my blogspot address, many thanks to them because it helped me to know that there are techniques to by-pass the service provider’s router!  But am not able to view my customized settings though!. Juz thinking how stupid they are. If blogspot is banned, is it not possible for the terrorists to seek an alternative? If a common man knows how to by-pass a router which ban the IP addresses of a domain, don’t they? Or is it not possible for the outfits to use e-mail or some other tools to communicate? It reminds me a story that there was an old man in a village who instead of feeding bread due to hunger, committed suicide (thinking it would solve the problem permanently!).

One last word! Now-a-days am not able to work enough! Am very much concerned about the files on my work-table coz am spending too much of my time in blogging. Here after am going to blog only once in a week, every monday evening, wherein I’ll be posting all my thoughts and experiences. Meanwhile, friends who frequently pay visit to my iland are requested to suggest improvements, either in my writting style or in information am publishing, through comments section and/or in my guestbook.

Discovery landing successful

After checking for minor cracks in the wing and nose section of the shuttle using laser beam and a robot, (this is a new technique since columbia disaster and the crew did it on their last space walk) the crew reported that the thermal protection system is working extremely fine. But now the concern is shifted to one of the hydraulic cylinder which delivers power for maneuvering and controlling the shuttle. One of its cylinder leaks suspicios liquid nitrogen. If it is confirmed, then upon re-entry the fuel might burn causing fire hazard which is dangerous for the crew and for the shuttle! Data are collected based on experiments conducted on sunday. Reports are pouring from ground station after careful analysis that says the issue is minor and that the landing will be successful. And lo they did it! NASA has once again successfully demonstrated the world about their design of space shuttle-the robust machine man-has-ever-built!

Letter to terrorist

I found this interesting letter in the internet. It doesn’t address the mumbai blast issue politically, though, this letter is meant to be read on humanity of mumbaiities (or bombayitis). Here is the transcript, as with all forward mail, I don’t know about the origin of this letter (or the creator),

Dear  Terrorist,

Even if you are not reading this we don’t care. Time and again  you
tried to disturb us and disrupt our life - killing innocent
civilians by  planting bombs in trains, buses and cars. You have
tried hard to bring death and  destruction, cause panic and fear and
create communal disharmony but everytime  you were disgustingly
unsuccessful. Do you know how we pass our life in Mumbai?  How much
it takes for us to earn that single rupee? If you wanted to give us
a  shock then we are sorry to say that you failed miserably in your
ulterior  motives. Better look elsewere, not here.

We are not Hindus and Muslims or  Gujaratis and Marathis or Punjabis
and Bengaliies. Nor do we distinguish  ourselves as owners or
workers, govt. employees or private employees. WE ARE  MUMBAIKERS
(Bombay-ites, if you like). We will not allow you to disrupt our
life  like this. On the last few occassions when you struck
(including the 7 deadly  blasts in a single day killing over 250
people and injuring 500+ in 1993), we  went to work next day in full
strength. This time we cleared everything within a  few hours and
were back to normal - the vendors placing their next order,
businessmen finalizing the next deals and the office workers rushing
to catch  the next train. (Yes the same train you targetted)

Fathom this: Within 3  hours of the blasts, long queues of blood
donating volunteers were seen outside  various hospital, where most
of the injured were admitted. By 12 midnight, the  hospital had to
issue a notification that blood banks were full and they didn’t
require any more blood. The next day, attendance at schools and
office was close  to 100%, trains & buses were packed to the brim,
the crowds were  back.
The city has  simply dusted itself off and moved one - perhaps with
greater vigour.

We  are Mumbaikers and we live like brothers in times like this. So,
do not dare to  threaten us with your crackers. The spirit of Mumbai
is very strong and can not  be harmed.

Please forward this to others. U never know, by chance it may  come
to hands of a terrorist in Afghanistan, Pakistanor Iraqand he can
then read this message which is specially meant for  him!!!

With Love,
From the people of Mumbai (Bombay) and from all the INDIANS.

Humanity and Terrorism

7 blasts within a span of 11 minutes! Bloodshed everywhere, along with iron and seat material, people laying on track, 185 dead!!! All this happened, not in Iraq or Afghanistan, but in our own Mumbai, city of fortune. If bomb blasts would have happened in Kashmir, we wouldn’t have noticed coz now-a-days it has become a routine! The congress government is very very soft and kind to terrorism that they literally allow terrorists to attack anywhere in India so that there own problem will be forgotten by people! Is it not a kind of encouraging terrorists and terrorism? By the way, follow the link (http://in.rediff.com/news/2006/jul/11train12.htm) to find the other side of terrorism. Who said Mumbai is the rudest city in the world? Alright, if rudest is measured in saying thanks by word and not by heart, I do agree. But Mumbaitians have proved that we don't say thank you, but will be there to help when in need. Dear Reader's digest, please make a note of this point while you measure for next time. For that matter, I've seen this help-in-need attitude everywhere, but only in India.

BORN AGAIN

Today I read an article on BORN AGAIN written by Dr Walter Semkiw, an egyptian guide by profession, who in his book has supported the theory of re-incarnation with suitable examples as his case studies. The article was published in sunday chronicle, sunday’s edition of deccan chronicle, however am able to find time only today. What fascinates me is the ease with which these guys write an article while am struggling to arrange my thoughts on what to write! In all, the article was crafted excellently whereas I have my own doubts on the essence of it. Dear bloggers, Please read the article and post your comments and ideas about re-incarnation.
