Hi! i read some of your blogs. I was especially interested in the article religion and God. It seems you are not very much into religion and your cocept of religion and god as separate entity could be very well obsereved in your writings. however, as we look at the creation, the discipline, the precision, the beauty, the need for the existence of humanity, the planet earth. From the macro galaxies to the micro bacteria, all is but a handy work of a power which the creation (i.e. humans) cannot fathom and is far competent and does not have…the ability built in to grasp. If a human utilizes 20% of his brain he becomes a genius, an inventor, a scientist. Then how much is built in the system of a human being which is made in the image and likeness of “God” the power. Humans cannot utilize the remaining 80% because of the missing link with its creator. You and I have pointed out things and debate out of our meager say 5% to 10% capacity which is negligible and non-existent. write to me.

Lady, you pondered a large number of questions. Your comment asked: “It’’s a conspiracy. School, parents, society…but what exactly is the fear about? rejection? ridicule? disapproval? ostracism? labels? reputation? being different? being alone? If we name the fear we might conquer it”.
I think the fear is that if we/our children don’t go along with the curriculum that is dictated by ’someone out there’, we may end up as the rejects of society. We fear that if we are not certified as fit citizens by degrees and diplomas, we/our kids may not be able to survive… or will survive on the fringes.

You have a way with words, as indeed you must be having with systems, facts, interpretations, objectivity, originality, and passion.
Your blogs are very nice and interesting, but reading the few i did gave me the impression that you are limited and wasted if confined to the blogworld only.
You need a bigger stage and audience. Say, a regular col in TOI ? Please do strive for that. It is criminal not to alllow talent to spread, and we do hope that one as conscientious as you are should 2ork at spreading your views far and wide.

Lissome, as someone else pointed out in a comment, I too feel some of your arguments draw more attention to your intellectual firepower than to the issue at hand.
It’s a distracting experience to read your prose, whether it’s in your posts, or in your comments to other people’s posts. I keep trying to focus on the issues, but find myself getting cross-eyed because of the thought structure and sentence structure.
Just a passing observation. I mean no offence, so I hope you’ll take none.

Hello, how are you?:) Only recently after a conversation with dad did I confirm your offline identity! I am doing fine, and so is Varun who is at the moment extremely busy conversing with his paternal grandparents. Well, about atheism (though I know that topic has been probably juiced completely), the fact that my father is an atheist does not take away a bit from my esteem of his personality (nor of anyone elses). In fact, on the contrary, it challenges my belief.. I am more of a wannabe believer than an actual one, hence knowing him and how he is mostly right about things doesnt help me!
Happy teachers day! Your blogs are indeed wonderful, for the mental exercise they invite from the reader.. You are kind of teaching a lot of us through your blogs as well!:)

On second thoughts, LL. I feel I must apologise for my outburst. Actually, last night my wife snubbed me saying I am a selfish guy. In frustration I came here and said all that. Actually, I have had a disturbed childhood and been troubled by its painful memories. A father who would return late at night, totally drunk, from God knows where and a frustrated mom who would take it out all on us. As a result, I developed this attitude towards women in general. So I guess when I see you so strongly and wisely demolishing the opponents, the complexities within me rise up and I start feeling uncomfortable. The fact is that being a person with many complexes, I am scared to face myself bluntly and therefore prefer to hide behind anonymous masks. At times I simply hate myself for such cowardly acts. Thanks for making me realise the serious deficiencies within me.
Lissome Lady
8. If I am a revolutionary thinker, blindness to my flaws wont make my ideas ‘impotent’ - see how you throw words. You are not even logical in your statements. One is the power of thought and so valid despite the thinkers personal flaws See I have demolished you. Now if you think that is personal what can I do? You need to be smarter if you take me on. Now if I am so good at demolishing people how can I be insecure? I should be flying high. Another poor argument there. This is what happens when you emotionally shoot from the hip without due thought. Is that my fault if you feel inadequate and then blame me for your feelings? You have tried hard, but not hard enough. Anyone is welcome to debate with me. come armed with a lot of research and an open mind to learn and you will love it. As for what kind of a teacher etc… that is a foregone conclusion after three decades of teaching and the testimonies of hundreds of students - real ones mind you- not a few smarting virtual adults
Lissome Lady
6. Examples please of name calling/ character analysis. It is important to support these claims pal, otherwise you are like the Indian politician hollow and vindictive. Now if you put what I have just said above, under the two categories, I will have to add ‘immature’ because you cant see the vaidity of proof in allegations, which is the way children argue. :)) My arguments are very ‘proper’ they will give you clear points of view and lots of examples. Nothing ad hominem about them. Always about the issue. Find a few of my statements in context taht show personal attack and we can talk 7. Forbid? Please give me examples where you have tried to introduce a topic related to the issue and I have stopped you. I love the expanse of debates and explorations. If you try to be facetious and funny in the middle of a serious debate, you do end up with childish arguments, but hey why argue.. find examples and show me where. And, I am sorry you need to understand ‘ad hominem’ better.
Lissome Lady
LL Style: You have every right to your opinion. However, if you seek any validation or acknowledgement from me or anyone else on what you say, you need to back it up with concrete instances from my blogs in the form of quotes. I had done this once when Friendly Ghost accused me of never conceding or for that matter anyone ever conceding to me, I wrote a blog with full quotes to prove him wrong. I didn’t say what nonsense and give him some generic lip. So my dear, you do that. Get yourself a blog if you are just a reader of my blogs, and if you are a regular in disguise, get rid of that cowardly burqua and face me fair and square. write that blog. Mine is titled Lissome’s Interactions on Iland and can be read under the personal category. Do read to use as a model. 2) you dont have to send people to wiki for fallacies. I have done a full blog on that which you can read under my top posts titled How to derail an argument. :)) and sure if anyone finds them fallacies write a blog.
Lissome Lady
To present a ’style’ you need to have a base of parameters not personal whims. Reply to ur points 1. To some people the posts could be radical but to many they are eye openers, blunt, hard hitting and they often feel there is nothing more to be said. 2. correction. I am not just open, I invite debates and the recent debating blog explains why. 3. Actually though I clock a few hundred comments on some blogs the actual participants are only a dozen at the most. Intelligent, thinkers with convictions and heaps of guts, I am proud of the panel who take part in my debates and discussions. 4. ‘She does not know how to debate fairly’ is a personal opinion, when there is no quoted proof - so do that blog pronto 5. I dont think anyone says I am a teacher in the middle of a comment. The only person who calls me that is afl and he is certainly tongue in cheek about it and not appealing to authority in the least. in fact he argues with me till he is blue. no appeal to authority there. sorry.
LL Style
8. She might be a revolutionary thinker but her blindness to her own flaws makes her ideas impotent. In the age of free thinking, she wants to demolish dissent. And no one needs to study Psychology 101 to know that anyone behaving this way is insecure in her own position.
If LL wants you to accept her words without a valid reason, you can put to test what I say and then only accept it.
How to test : On any topic, not for the sake of a debate, but where you wholeheartedly disagree with LL’s views, try a debate against her. She will use all the tricks in her bag to demolish you, sadly she should only be demolishing your argument and not you.
If you agree with her, you get rewarded. If you don’t, you get punished. What kind of teacher is that?
*Why believe me? Read LL’s arguments and visit the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallacy and see for yourself.
At the bottom of the page are links to what I added above.
LL Style
LL’s argument style
I have been watching how LL behaves on iland for the past 3 months and here I present LL’s style.
1. Her posts contain radical ideas touching many contemporary topics.
2. She says she is always open to debates.
3. And people wholeheartedly join these.
But
4. She does not know how to debate fairly.
5. In the middle of a debate, if anyone says that she is a teacher and has a reputation in the non-virtual world, does that mean her logic is correct? - *An appeal to authority
6. In a debate, no one starts name calling and character analysis. That is totally out of scope of the debate, but this is exactly what she does. The proper way is to oppose (not ridicule) the argument and not the speaker - *An ad hominem argument
7. She or her supporters (in the debate) are ready to introduce different topics in her debates but she will totally forbid her opponents to do the same, ridiculing their mental age comparing it to a child - *An ad hominem argument

Teacher, I have posted a blog and taken the liberty to refer to your blog. I hope you dont mind.

Oh! that is much better. You are doing right and it is matching my views! Only you are presentiing a different view to us! I am sure you are an absolute optimist, otherwise how would you make an effort like this! My optimism is based on the spirit of persons like you which can be seen even now!
Lissome Lady
And it is not class 12, it is 12 year olds in class 7 I beleve in catching ‘em young!
Lissome Lady
You have a lot to learn Alf. Think about it. Anger as an instrument of change. Look across history- reflect and get back to me. Why should I tell you everything? And dont throw attitude at me. You will have to swallow a lot of your words if u do. I am not simply opinionating I have studied these from several perspectives and I have examples at the tip of my fingers. But do reflect and you will find the answers for yourself. // We dont run in circles, in fact solutions become easier because we are not wearing rose tinted glasses and fooling ourselves that all is well when it is not. Empty optimism is a dangerous thing. It is what makes us say Mumabi will be Shanghai without a thought. The idiocy of it is only now dawning on some Indians after the Olympics. //Also if you find examples in history of benign change do do bring it to my notice and I will stand corrected. :))
afl
Well, I am not sure why the reply resides in your GB! What you did to class 12 students is the solution to the problem. It is necessary to make them aware of it and prepare them. I agree, all social issues are related. My point is, While addressing one issue, if we highlight another which may also be related to another issue, it will become “Run in circle, scream and shout”. No solution will come out on any issues. Empty optimism. I don’t know, what is it all about? Anger to find solution? Anger to remain against submission? Hmmm…Spare me…
Lissome Lady
Excuse me, let us not mix up issues? Do you realise that these issues are inextricable? If there were no corruption, the poverty levels would plummet? That we would be a country of haves not have nots? Our country is blessed with climate, soil, beauty, intelligence and spiritual and cultural wealth? What more could any country ask? So let us not pretend that we are poor coz nature has given us little. Corruption cannot be viewed with a different lens and poverty with another. If you are a human being worth your salt you blood must boil for those who suffer, you must be their voice. I do not teach my children “empty optimism” Last week when I took a class of 12 year olds and spoke of corruption, not only were their mouths open, they wanted to know if they can activate the right to information act as kids and protest? I want to see anger not submission in the future generations my dear. It is this crappy ‘oh things are not so bad’ attitude that has been our bane.
afl
Teacher, thanks for responding. Let us not mix up issues. I have no difference of opinion on the issue of the degree of poverty and wide gap between the rich & poor. But the point we are discussing is about the one disease called Corruption. Let us make issues clash each other and make every issue weak. My points are addressing the corruption issue, neither its after effect nor its origin. Corruption is bad for whatever reason it is. We have to find solutions to overcome it. It is method of finding solution. Optimism or pessimism, I leave it to individual. As a teacher, I am sure you must be telling every day to children, “Pessimists reach nowhere”. Let me also switch of the microphone.

The only person who calls me that is afl and he is certainly tongue in cheek about it and not appealing to authority in the least. in fact he argues with me till he is blue. no appeal to authority there. sorry.
7. She or her supporters (in the debate) are ready to introduce different topics in her debates but she will totally forbid her opponents to do the same, ridiculing their mental age comparing it to a child - *An ad hominem argument
thanx didi . i am alright , just not finding enough time to devote to myself on net for last few days.
Hugsssss………………….. :O))))))))
And it is not class 12, it is 12 year olds in class 7
I beleve in catching ‘em young!
Hmmm…Spare me…
Excuse me, let us not mix up issues?

Defile karti ho aur sorry bolti ho? Chee chee. Hasso, aur hasso: magar pet sambhal kar. Teeth asli hain ya nakli lagati ho?
Mere comments to delete kar diye, apne comments show karke badi nautanki banti ho? Sabse pahle maine kuchh nahi kiya tha, but you deleted my comment. Mujhe laga why are you so scared? There must be some thing worth hiding?
Maine Kush se kuchh kaha, aur tum beech me tapak padi? Granny ho to apne ijjat ka khayal karo.
Aur ya to tum ya fir tumhara deewana Freedom. Tum me se ek ne ek fake profile banaya Shahjada ke naam par. Gande gande comments likhe mere GB par. Mujhe threat diya, daraya dhamkaya. Aur pata nahi mujhe kaun samajh kar bhala bura kaha. Maine to sirf itna poochha tha ki tumhare husband ko pata hai Free ke saath tumhari dosti aur aisi batein? Aur tumne itna pata nahi kya kya bhala bura kaha mujhe.
Thanks Didi for your prompt mail, i am honored. Shall soon mail you about all this. regards, aap ka choota bhai anil.
