Love these Q and As.

1.    LAST MOVIE YOU SAW IN A THEATER?

Dasavatharam. In a small, close to empty theatre very close to our home for Rs30. Would have preferred if Kamal had not wasted lakhs on his make-up (every single avtar was singularly horrible)

I liked the pulp-fiction-like circular ending, but, hated having to look at Kamal at every single frame.

End result: liked the storyline, even tolerated the theater. But hate Kamal for being too much of a showing off.

Wrong Hand

September 12th, 2008

This funny little incident happened when i went for the oral test for (learners) driving licence for the four wheeler.

The driving school had arranged for a crash course on the signs and symbols on the morning of test. we were required to practice for the hand signals as well. We were about 25 people appearing for the test from that particular school and we were assured of an “easy” official to question us.

My test went on quite smoothly as did to almost all of us. Save one guy. He was murmuring that the official told him off very badly and he could appear for the oral test only after 5 days- all this for giving the right answer! He went straight to the incharge from our driving school. The poor guy from the driving school calmed him down and asked him what was the question was that the official asked. The Murmur guy answered that he asked for the hand signal for left turn. The driving school guy was pretty sure that this was a easy question… Then why was this guy reprimanded?… Just out of curiousity, he asked the murmur guy how he did his hand signal. The murmur guy confidently extended his left hand!

Rotten Apple

August 6th, 2008

Our guava tree is in full glory, bearing sweet fruits from every branch. I remember how me and my husband fought so hard to stop it from being cut 2 years ago when we were building the garage. It still bears the saw mark on its strong branch.
I have got many requests from neighbours for the guava leaves for their medicinal purposes, fruits (for they taste of pure magic) and even the flower(for studying). We have our tea with our family under the tree on weekends, i chit chat away for hours under the tree, until the mosquitoes drive us crazy. The tree is something i adore and am really proud of.

The other day, i saw a few poor kids scaling the wall for the juicy fruit. I was very angry because they were 1. stealing, 2. ransacking my tree and breaking their branches and leaves. When they saw me coming out, they all ran away, save one. This boy, standing about 10 feet away from me, asked me if they could have some fruits. I thought about it and gave them few. Happily, they thanked me a lot and walked away munching. Made me happy.

Few days ago, i caught my neighours son, climbing up and again plundered my tree of its fruits and leaves, branches. When he saw me coming,he ran away and had the nerve to say that someone else had pulled off all the fruits and gave it to him. I was raging with anger.

  1. He was stealing
  2. He knew that i would let him take the fruits if he had asked. (He has done it many times before) but decided to climb up the tree anyway without permission
  3. He was lying
  4. He was standing close to his mom and grandmom, who had seen the whole incident but were ignoring me.
  5. He descends from a rich family who will be able to buy him tons of fruits if he just expressed his desire.

I really hoped that the parents advised him about the incident. Paavam, my kids had to undergo half hour of lecture from me about stealing = taking without permission, however small the object is, wherever you take it from. I would strive for my kids to be good people first, and then be worried about making them smart ones.
