    Hi ! Lucille,
Nice to know you have a “nose” for mushrooms. Way back during my childhood in Kerala, picking mushrooms after a thundershower was one of my favourite pastimes. We were told, pick only the white and fluffy ones, sprouting from the soil. No tree growth. There, it used to be said, that the mushrooms start sprouting at the vibrations of the tropical thunder. My grandma used to cook these, and I thought it tasted like ducks eggs. Of course the cultivated ones available in the market and hotels dont taste half as much. The one shown in the pix gives me the creeps ! — it looks like something from outer space ! Being such an outdoor person, you should be always there — pottering in the garden, foraging on Mother Earth, walking along Cape Cod, always.

    Hi Lucille !

C-h-e-e-r UP! r-e-l-a-x. Remember that poem about “Lead kindly light .. Lucille’s right to live her claim.” This claim rests with you and the Lord only. Why give up when you can go on and God is willing to see your point ? So gather yourself together and do the things you like to do, get a hold on yourself. “Onward Christian Soldiers .. with the Cross of Jesus, Guiding you before…”

  14. Divyani says

Namastay: with both palms facing each other: means I bow to that which resides in you: Basically recognising the divinity within the other soul and bowing to that divinity.
Remember: vedic concept of hindu/sanatan dharma: God is in you; tat-tum-asi: you are part of that hence you are that.

    Hi Lucia,
Went thru Losing Face once, will go through several times, again. Its really painful. Maybe, as in the Reiki prayer– “..I thank You Lord for everything, the good things and the bad things, the diseases as well as the sufferings, and the good bounties, so that I can find my ” Atma” through my karma..”, there is bound to be light at the end of the tunnel. May be the Lord’ll bale you out through Dr. Gouri, who knows. My prayers are there with Dr. Gouri, for you.

Interview with Dr. Hiran,Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Cochin.
Pathology is basically a sciences and
clinical practice concerned particularly with structural and functional
changes in tissues and organs of the body caused by disease. In fact,
the strength of the pathologists is to keep their much deserved
prominence in modern medicine resides in their unique intellectual
ability to sum up and integrate an enormous amount of anatomical,
histological, cytological, and molecular data -obviously obtained by
various methods-and to correlate this with clinical data for
establishing an accurate diagnosis and prognosis.

  31. Ranjan Mathews says

    Hello there Lucille, 03/03/2008
This poem was published in Statesman, Calcutta, yesterday only, my own poem, that is — “Shadows Of Time” by Ranjan Mathews
    Shadows stretch as evening snips
    Uneven hedges skirting the greens,
    Yellow sodium-lamps glow uneven
Edging out the last orange hue,
    My own shadows take over
    Cutting corners at odd angles.
There are no answers, not yet
As I keep looking back, yet again
Was there another lean shadow ?
    Deep amid yawning skyscraper canyons.
    Curling smog morphs faces gaunt’n'grey
    … and a veiled shadow beckons –
Its the Shaman, my true self !
Marking time above the twilight zone.
    -mmmmmm-

Natural disasters are inevitable and it is almost impossible to fully recoup the damage caused by the disasters. But it is possible to minimise the potential risk by developing disaster early warning strategies, prepare and implement developmental plans to provide resilience to such disasters and to help in rehabilitation and post disaster reduction. Space technology plays a crucial role in efficient mitigation and management of disasters.

    Dear Lucille,
I started off the biography of my mother with much enthusiasm and lot of motivation by people like you. But now I have a hesitation - am i trying to find myself some glare at the expense of my mother? Is it really worthwhile for ilanders to read about the personal life of somebody’s mother? I want to continue the blog only on the advice of people like you.

  44. Anulekha Mukherjee says

    Hello Lucille,

    Dear Lucille,

Thank you for your thought-provoking response to my post.

Your point about answers given in a poll being politically-correct ones (and not an indication of anybody’s willingness to walk the talk) is spot-on!

Your point about fuel taxes hurting the poor rather than the rich is also quite valid, and will need to be kept in mind.

    Warm Regards,
    Krish
