Why is the Election Commission discriminatory towards Tamilnadu?

Preventing of corrupt and unlawful practices must be curbed is everyone’s view. That does not mean that retrictions must be placed selectively. The Election Commission of India is behaving in a selective manner and is discriminatory. No doubt money and muscle power must be controlled in the electoral process but it must not be selective. The Election Commission has been discriminatory towards Taminadu in this aspect. First and foremost it had announced the Election date for Tamilnadus assembly as 13/04/2011 and the counting to take place on 13/05/2011 i.e after completion of the polls the votes will be counted only after a month. Is it not ridiculous? Why should the people of Tamilnadu wait for 1 month? In what way is the Election Results of Tamilnadu’s Assembly Elections going to affect the other states? If it is not possible to conduct the Elections in a single day in Assam and West Bengal then the Elections for Tamilnadu and Puducherry must be held in the last leg.

Next the whimsical attitide of the Commission is highly deplorable. Unnecessarily the Commission’s action has put the entire people of the state in to a lot of difficulty. Are they adopting the same yardstick in respect of the other states like West Bengal, Assam and Kerala? If not then why such discrimination? Is it because that Tamilnadu is being ruled by “Backward Non-Brahmins”.

Right from Mr. T.N.Seshan’s period the Election Commission has been biased and been favouring the AIADMK inspite of the fact that Mr Seshan was chased by AIADMK goons. Mr Navin Chawla gave unnecessary importance to Ms Jayalalithaa as if she is a National Party Leader and ignored Mr. Karunandhi who is the Senior-most politician of this Country and the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. Now the present CEC is following his footsteps. It has also appeared in a Tamil Magazine today that Mr. Naresh Gupta the former, Chief Election Officer of Tamilnadu has been instrumental in all the present restrictions imposed by the CEC. if so, it is wrong to seek his advice. Mr. Naresh Gupta who poses himself as Gandhian has been siding Ms Jayalalithaa and it is not understood as to how he is supporting her as if she is a disciple of the Mahatma. Mr. Naresh Gupta has got his own grievance with the DMK Govt for not considering him for the post of Chief Secretary. So now he wants to take revenge for it.
