Do we believe in God …?

July 31, 2009 By: meena sundar Category: Religion

Hi Friends, for a long time I am not writing or reading anything . But couple of days ago I had a chat with Jissy Thomas and she asked me why cant I post that chat as a new post here I am posting that convo J I hope this post is not going to be my last.

Jissy: Do you believe in God?

me: I want to

Jissy: Have there been instances in your life where you felt like denying His existence?

me: Human haves some fault, one is when they r in misery they think, god is not there, But if we r in a good silent peaceful mood, we can feel it inside,  it cannot be expressed, somehow we all felt it.

Jissy: Hmm

But the true test of faith is when you are in trouble :)

'

me: For that dear, u shd have  guts, it is not that easy .

Jissy: Right

And many times we believe in Him merely because we are told to believe from childhood

me: Exactly

So i dont know it is god, or it is what we believe or felt

It is all an illusion, if u question, then it is going to bother you until you die.

So we all opt for the illusion.

Jissy: If somebody says that he/she doesn’t believe in God we think he/she’s crazy

I don’t think God would punish anyone just because the person doesn’t believe Him

 me: I love u for this !

Bcoz i am a non-believer of god, basically.

But i am not afraid of that

or i am doing anything that needs justification.

Jissy: But does your family accept such radical views?

me: Of course they r. May be in the beginning they were very different about it, but after sometime  they  accepted me.

Jissy: Hmm

Is mushroom vegetarian item or non-veg?

 me: Hahahahha

 Veg

Jissy: Now you’ll have to rack your brain a lot

What is the definition of vegetarian item?

me: OMG

It is some kind of punishment   :)))

Jissy: Get inspiration from this question :D

me: I will think about ur first convo.

That is better option for me to write a post   :))))

Jissy: :D

  Then better write one fast

Otherwise I’ll rack your brain further :D

me: Hahaha

Jissy: I had asked the same question to Moe

let me answer whether mushroom is veg or non veg

me: Ok

Jissy: Mushroom doesn’t grow on plants

 It’s a fungus

  An edible one

me: Yes.

    So it is non-veg

Jissy: But people include it in veg like milk

 me:   Thanks rey.

Jissy: Milk is totally non veg

me: That i know.

Jissy: But vegetarians use it in some form or the other

  Don’t you use milk?

me: Hahaaaha

We r veg or non-veg, now that is confusion.

Jissy: :D

If you use milk then how can you term yourself as purely veggie?

me: Hmmm

Jissy: Bhejaa fry ho gayaa? :D

 me: That question needs pondering

  Hahaha

Jissy: There are certain rules which are changed to suit people

 me: Yes

Not even this one dear, there r many things

Jissy: True

So the best way is not to fry your bhejaa  ;)

me: Yes

But it will get better if we fry

 Jissy: :D

In vedic period, cows were sacrificed to please gods

Actually, cows were considered to be precious wealth

And when they sacrificed cows it meant that they were sacrificing something very precious

me: Some things we are never going to understand.

Jissy: Status of a person depended upon the number of cows he owned

 me: Ok

Jissy: And if anyone stole the cow of another person he was severely punished

Vedic people used to offer gods the best of what they had

But now we can’t do that

  Rules change with changing times

me: But still that custom is here Jissy

in many parts of our country.

 Jissy: Really?

  I didn’t know that

me: Yes, even in our family temple, once a year they give goat as a gift to God.

Purely, Slater that animal, i don't like that,

and we talked about that to them.

Jissy: Goat, yes but not cow, no?

me: It villages they give cow

Jissy: Ok

  That’s interesting

So what did those people say?

me: They r saying, it is custom… my SIL and i talked about this

but they r giving stupid reasons for that.

Jissy: The reasons may be stupid for us but they have been doing that for centuries

And they are not educated like us

So they continue with what their fore fathers had done

We can’t blame them for that

 me: Hmmm

Jissy: we always tend to see things from a modern perspective

me: Yes, but it is not bad na

Jissy: No

But their lifestyle is different from ours

We can’t judge them using our parameters

 me: Maybe

I am confused by all this.

Jissy: If you go to Tibet, you won’t get any vegetables to eat

People have to eat meat to survive

 They kill yaks

me: I know.

Jissy: But that’s the only way for them to live

 me: Yes, i know.

Jissy: So would you say, they are doing wrong?

It’s the culture that makes all the difference

In most of the villages the temple priests scare people and make them do these kinds of things

If someone tells you that if you don’t sacrifice a goat or a cow, then your child will die

  what would you do?

You are not literate enough to understand that he’s fooling you

So you will fall in to his trap

me: Even educated ones r falling now

  Mostly!!!!

 Jissy: I know

It’s because they are insecured about their life and family

When it comes to near ones, they don’t think rationally

me: Right

Even we may do that, if we r in their position

Jissy: True

me: U r right

It is hard to take decisions or talking about something, which is not in our shoes.

Jissy: Yes

That’s why The Holy Bible says ‘Judge not and you shall not be judged.”‘

 me: :)

P.S :

Excuse me FRIENDS, Jissy is not saying anything like, Bible is the best and other holy books r not. Just dont turn this post into something, which is not there…. She quoted something from Bible, if she knows some other HOly book, she might have had quoted that also. Pl, dont take this convo in a different ugly thing. I Hope Mr. Array must be happy now, i cannot even see others comment. Thanks Mr. Array for ur good work!

Misunderstanding

April 21, 2009 By: meena sundar Category: Life

It happens when one does not accept what we say
Or when we don't accept what others says
Truths are many
some cannot accept bcoz all are wrong
Some cannot bcoz they believe them strongly
Some cannot bcoz of ego
Some cannot bcoz they like to argue
Some cannot bcoz they need third opinion
Some cannot bcoz they love to see and enjoy when others muse.

Understanding has only one meaning
Truth or the facts!
Humans have one problem,
A deaf ear to explanations they turn
They believe they are the righteous
But no one is always right, no one always wrong

Some talk between themselves and solve
While there are those who cannot
Some just ignore, while others fume in anger
Some seek explanations while others seek answers
Some justify quietly while others argue violently
It does not mean they are right or wrong
Sugarcoated words dont mean surrender
But a way of saying no to a conflict.
Some sugarcoated words have a motive
Some sugarcoated words simply means
No more talk about this misunderstanding.
So many varieties, so many meanings
But we all think we are right and others are wrong
In the end if we can solve misunderstandings,
Relationships grow stronger!
Its not about winning nor is it about not to losing our loved ones
Its not about ego, it is about human values!

Fragrance of love

March 12, 2009 By: meena sundar Category: Love

Two things  make love special
One possession , the other freedom

when love strikes
Uncertainty  grips the mind

Cause love is a feeling unique to all
It is just the fatal imagination

Love conquers what
Misery or joy?

Illusion takes its place
And plays tricks of joy

But the reality takes over
and makes life  a misery

Exchange of minds matter,
When the love spreads it wings.

But misery appears
When the wings get stuck

Well nothing matters
When the mind is full

But love lives
As long as the life needs it

A feeling so divine
Few  realize in their life

And they cherish the love
and let its to bloom  And live .

Interesting read ..

February 21, 2009 By: meena sundar Category: Life

Nice to write after a long break, reasons for not writing, 1)I am bored, second.2) I don’t know what to write.3) I am pretty busy also in a way. So simple reasons not to write and 4) little lazy too J which is the main factor which dint let my fingers type anything except sometimes chat ..hehehe

But interestingly I come across many changes in this phase. Noticeably one thing, I stopped giving much attention to what others say about me. It is for good, I hope! I was a very conscious person all the time, for me actions matters than what we talk. I don’t believe in talking and doing nothing, so practically all my life, I talk less and my actions speaks for me.

Coming to the main matter, today morning I started reading Paulo Coelho book “Like the Flowing River”. Something snapped inside me. Here is the excerpt from one chapter

The story of the pencil.

A boy was watching his grandmother write a letter. At one point he asked:

‘Are you writing a story about what we’ve done? Is it a story about me?’

His grandmother stopped writing her letter and said to her grandson:

‘I am writing about you, actually, but more important than the words is the pencil I’m using. I hope you will be like this pencil when you grow up.’

Intrigued, the boy looked at the pencil. It didn’t seem very special.

‘But it’s just like any other pencil. I’ve ever seen!’

‘That depends on how you look at things. It has five qualities which, if you manage to hang on to them, will make you a person who is always at peace with the world.

‘First quality: you are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.

‘Second quality: now and then, I have to stop writing and use a sharpener. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but afterwards, he’s much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains and sorrows, because they will make you a better person.

‘Third quality: the pencil always allows us to use an eraser to rub out any mistakes. This means that correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing, it helps to keep us on the road to justice.

‘Fourth quality: what really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior, but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is happening inside you.

‘Finally, the pencil fifth quality: it always leaves a mark. In just the same way , you should know that everything you do in life will leave a mark, so try to be conscious of that in your every action.’

P.S. We all have/had known this kind of thing already ,read or heard, but we may have forgotten the essence of this, bcoz we are travelling in a fast moving mad world. I don’t think people have time to listen to others and of course they don’t have time to listen to their inside. When some of them listen to their inside and do good things, then it looks very odd to others, for them running is important, talking is important, the time being well spent is important. It is kind of selfish act.

Even my friend Neetha Nair on her post Of Give and Take says , that helping others is also like a selfish thing, it is to satisfy own mind or get a good name for us, I totally agree, but the main fact is, in that selfish act, some of them get help from others. More or less, the purpose is solved, you are satisfied and in your selfish acts some of them also satisfied. Give and take !!!!!

Well, when I started reading the book, first thing that strikes me, is the explanation. At least we can tell this to our kids, let them be a pencil, rather than running to survive in this world as a mere living species, let them be a human being. Anyway I loved that chapter and I liked to share it with u. I hope you liked it. I want to write more now, but then the post will go on and on..so I stop here. May be some other time a full post about this.

Have a wonderful weekend friends. God Bless!!!

So many things changed.

So many things intrigue us.

So many things line up to question us.

Unanswered questions,

Territories Unknown.

But one thing never changes,

The love that keeps the humans alive!

The compassion we give to our loved ones!

The love that can make a lot of differences.

Anger and Hatred are never permanent.

Reach out and touch - you fellow beings with your heart…

It makes a vast difference!!!

Wandering thoughts

December 20, 2008 By: meena sundar Category: Love

Feeling good about all,

Suddenly senses flying like kite!

Viewing everything in a different perspective

Seeing anything makes the mind happy!

A flying bird,

Makes heart skip a beat.

A simple song,

Calms the mind.

A simple smile,

Keeps the mood in its place.

Simple touch of warmth,

Stirs up all the sleeping senses to life.

From nowhere the monster appeared,

That makes breathing hard

Surprisingly, Dark clouds

Seems to be disappearing for good!

Even a dream

Looks like real!

A simple prayer

In front of god ..

Makes the Feelings touch

. the heart

Heart touches,

The soul ..

Makes the soul,

Peaceful!

Peace keeps,

The soul relaxed for sometime .

Angry…..

November 30, 2008 By: meena sundar Category: Blogs

Angry

Angry at us

Bcoz we are mute spectators of all.

Angry

Angry at our politicians,

For making everything political.

Angry

Angry at our government,

Which stays calm and aloof all the time.

Playing the Gandhigiri mode

When we need action,

The real strong actions!!!

Angry

Angry at the terrorist,

Bcoz what makes them think

They can destroy us and win us?!

What makes them think

We will give up easily to them?!

Angry

Angry at the politicians

For making it all, religious .

Angry

Angry at us,

To respond to these religious politicians

Who can do anything to get their votes,

And secure their seats!

Angry

Angry at us,

To respond to this nonsense

And walking like a free citizen.

Don't we have to take any action?

We are paying taxes

Don't we have rights to question our politicians,

Politics and law policies ..etc ?

This is our country!

This is our world!

Do we have any doubts about that?

Do we have to wait and shed more innocent lives?

 Angry and sad ..

When we are going to end this .!!!

Finally,

One question is going to nag our mind for a long time,

We are going to be like this forever!!!

  Who saved Indians this time?

 NORTH INDIANS  OR  SOUTH INDIANS

                             OR

INDIANS .???!!!

                                                                 —- INDIAN CITIZEN.

I love u…good old memories :)

November 22, 2008 By: meena sundar Category: Personal

I love you ..This is the word that what started our conversation into something special between us my kids and me. In our family, at that time I was the only person who used to say 'I love you' to my kids, it is very rare in middle classes to use this word. Our family is very conservative middle class family. In south, I love you means very bad word, it is only for films and dramas . Family members cannot use this word (too many unwanted rules) he he he

In some way, I always used to say this to my kids and they are familiar with the word. Its all fine, until its happened inside our home, when my daughter was in 2nd or 3rd std I don't remember clearly, my elder one came to me, and asked me, amma could not I say I love you to my best friend, I told her it is ok.

She was in a Muslim girl's school, she said amma I told, I love to you to my friend, and she said it is bad wordL. My kid got confused and asked her why she cannot say and she also told her that we always says love you to each other. Her friend immediately replied, in films only they can say I love you, that also only a boy and girl says to each other, not others J

That day I took all the time in the world to explain to her, in traditional conservative Indian family they do not say love u, they don't understand love has many meanings in English, in Indian language it is only about men and women's love. However, love means affection and care all comes under one word .(In between I am wondering, am I giving her the correct explanation .. :)) or making her more confused oh its not easy to clear kid's doubts we feel like dumb and inadequate ..ha ha ha . Their enquiries varies, like in films, why they are running around trees and singing J , the stupid adds in the TV about napkin and condoms . :( their enquiries are unlimited)

That day i took so much time to make her feel comfortable; she is confused by the manner her friend reacted. As well as I told her to explain this to her friend, that parents and friends too can say this to people they care. Thank god, my daughter got the message rightly

They always specifically pick up night time only to talk to me, bcoz no disturbance from anyone, my hubby is not allowed in this talk, and unfortunately he doesn't believe in open talk, he is very traditionally conservative person( I am also in many matters, but I am much more better than him hehehe I believe). Sometimes he doesn't even like, that I talk all the subjects to my kids, but after sometime seeing my kids development, he is satisfied with it.

Now they are grown ups but still we share the same night talks, till wee hours sometimes it extents to five in the morning, whole night we talk .my hubby muses about it u women are really weird. Hehehe Who cares…as long as my kids are comfortable talking to me and if they are happy about it. Nothing is going to change our night talking. I believe in quality time than quantity time that we spend with our loved ones. I started some topic and ended in something .ha ha h a ..never mind this happens sometimes J I love all.
