How to get more traffic?

Since traffic is the single most driving force of your blog what beginners really need to do to get more people visiting their blogs??

1. Blog carnivals '

What is a blog carnival?
That's a great question, for many people don't know the answer! To tell you the truth, I've known about blog carnivals for a couple of months. I definitely don't consider myself an expert in this field, but blogging is a learning process, and I intend to do a lot of learning and helping others learn too.

Anyway, to answer the question, a blog carnival is not an actual carnival with lions, elephants, acrobats, and clowns. It is actually a type of blogging event. Blog carnivals are published on a regular basis, and a lot of the time each edition is hosted on a different blog (but not always). The publishing can be weekly, monthly, the first Saturday each month, or just anytime the creator wants to.

Why should I enter a blog carnival?

When you submit one of your posts/articles to a carnival, it will most likely be featured in the carnival's next edition. This way you will not only get a link, but a lot of exposure and people seeing your article! This can help your page rank, Technorati rank, traffic reach, and more. There are so many advantages, and a lot of people are already in on this secret. You should be, too!

How do I enter a blog carnival?

Just go to BlogCarnival.Com and sign up. Once you're registered you can browse through all the carnivals and find one that looks right for you. There is a carnival topic out there for everyone, so when you enter, be sure the article you're submitting is relevant to the carnival.

Go ahead and enter as many relevant carnivals you can to get a lot more links, exposure, and people reading your blog! After that, if you'd like to take a spin with being in charge for once, host your own carnival. It'll be fun.

2. Comment Marketing

Yes, it's common advice, but leaving comments on other blogs works.

When I first began blogging I had a little routine each night. Before going to bed when I was too tired to write anything lengthy, I'd leave at least ten comments on a handful of related blogs. It's worth forming a routine like this because consistency matters!

3. Forum Marketing

Just like commenting, a few value-adding contributions to relevant forums with links back to your blog in your signature file will bring visitors to your blog. Again, the more time and energy you invest in establishing a credible profile in a forum, the more traffic you will send to your blog. Some popular forums are- www.bloggertalk.net, www.bloggertalk.com, www.bloggerforum.com

4. Trackback Marketing

This technique isn't nearly as good as it once was, but it still brings in a little traffic. Send trackbacks to articles on other blogs whenever feasible in your own blog writing.

All you have to do is to mention an interesting article in some other blogger's page, in your blog and provide a link to it.

Trackbacks are placed in the comment area following a blog article and if you can be one of the first to trackback a hot post on a popular blog, some of the traffic will trickle to your blog as people look for more discussion of the hot topic.

You also get the attention of the blog author when you send trackbacks.

These are few low traffic techniques that I used to generate initial traffic on my blog. They are important for any beginner but to get those thousands of hits everyday u need to apply some more techniques, which I'll b discussing tomorrow…

How Blogs Make Money

a very elementry post.. some might say, but i woud like to help and share wid those who don’t have even d slightest idea about money-blogging.. read on

Print magazines make money by selling advertising. The larger their circulation, the more influence they exert over people, and the demographics of their readers dictate how much money they make.

Blogs are essentially the same.
The more traffic you have, the type and quality of that traffic and the influence you have over your audience, determines your profitability. It really doesn't matter how you make money ' it might be a contextual ad program like Google AdSense, affiliate marketing or direct ad sales ' the more raw readers you have, generally, the more money you can make.

Quality of traffic plays an important part too. If you have a strong influence over your readers, when you ask them to do something, such as recommending they buy a product you promote as an affiliate, more of them will do so.

If you break down the process of blog monetization, the following events occur:

1. A person (blogger) creates a web destination point (blog) that people want to visit, possibly on a repeat basis, because of the value it offers. Initially they find the blog by following a link from another blog or website, through a referral from friends or colleagues, or they come across the blog when it appears in the results of a search-engine query.

2. A proportion of that audience is funneled on to other sites that "pay" to buy the traffic. Payment might be in the form of a per-click fee, a monthly rate, an affiliate commission, or profit on a product or service sale.

The blogger works to attract attention and then sells that attention to advertisers for a fee or uses the attention to profit from their own product and/or service sales. The key variable here is "attention".

Attention is traffic, influence and the potential to make money from blogging.

What really drives everything on net?

of course PEOPLE! But for me ADVERTISING is the basis of every thing involved financially with the World Wide Web. Advertising is like the DNA of any online business and sadly that's y it was the main reason of the dot com crash 5 yrs back.

But now situation has changed completely. You must be witnessing a lot of activity on and off-line regarding what is commonly known as web 2.0!

(A sort-of sequel to the great boom of 2000!)

Symptoms??

- People are spending more time online, ever. According to a Forbes study, teenagers and young adults spend more time on the Internet than watching television, indicating a shift in media consumption inflated by advertisers.

- Social networking is the next big thing. These days you can easily spot two friends sitting next to each other in a cyber café and chatting on orkut!

- People prefer zapak.com than the playground right in front of their houses. (I think even I would prefer that given the rains in pune!)

- Some people have started concentrating more on affiliate marketing than their family businesses.

And what about d ingredients??

- people

- people

- More people!

Your take?

The more the no. of people, the more is the traffic on your site and more is the no. of advertisers rushing towards u

I know it's pretty stupid to tell u such a simple thing but my idea is that it's quite relevant for u to look into the monetizing aspect of your blog right now when everything is going d way it should be and no one is certain about the timing of the sequel to the dot com crash

so jump on the wagon!

bored with all the talking?

check this out…. web 2.0- the machine is using us

I've made this blog to share my knowledge with all of you. You can get any kind of information on net . But y my blog is useful for you, has two reasons-

  1. You just cannot know everything about money-blogging in one day or from any one resource .. it takes time… a lot of it!!

  1. My blog will be having all the content especially for an average INDIAN blogger. There are many Americans and Australian jacks of this trade but they will never teach u geographical specific knowledge.

Anyway, I just hope u people will like my blog and be able to profit from it.
