No man is an island, we read this when we were in school, used it as an opening lines in many essays to illustrate the fact that no man can live by himself, we all need a social network to live a happy ,content life. But what happens when this social network becomes a noose around your neck instead of the saftey net as promised by our ancestors, who propogated the theory of no man being an island.?
I am not a recluse, nor a cynic, yet afer this festive season,I think I have had an overdose of socialising and I would love to be an island, even if it is for a little while. If I live to tell the tale,I will be back

I dont know why but the very thought of sharing my thoughts with everyone is very unnerving and that is the reason I havent written much around here. Still something compels me to write this one.
I was checking my email and suddenly I was transported back in time , where the arrival of the postman would bring a smile on my face,a letter from my brother who was abroad or a letter from the aunt who was in Baroda would make up my day, and the wait would begin for the next visit of the postman. How things have changed now, one click of the button and you can get in touch with all and sundry, whether you want it or not is immaterial.
I have nothing against technology ,but how do I expain to my 8 year old who a postman is?Nostalgia seems to have a strong grip on me, I miss the small pleasures of yesteryears, come to think of it , in this dry ,hot ,alien country, I even miss the winters of north India……….

We are living in a world of our making. the choices that we make ,moulds the world around us. So who decides what we want? of course we do.
