I was channel surfing the other day when I observed that a children’s movie was being shown on Star Movies. What surprised me was not the movie but the Ads that were being shown during the commercial breaks. Almost all Ads were meant for adults. Products ranged from wrinkle lift creams to goods that are totally inappropriate for children.
I am surprised at the kind of marketing that is done these days. I can understand soups, biscuits & noodles but not this. Now what can they gain from that? The parents will find it uneasy to explain these products to the children. As the children are not meant to buy it, the products will not be sold. All in all the marketing guys are wasting a lot of money in promoting their goods to the wrong section of the population. I am amazed to see that nobody has noticed something as foolish as this. Looks like marketing research has gone to dogs!
This would be because:
1. Many adults do watch kids movies.
2. They want the kids to know their company’’s and brand’’s names.. cause they are the future consumers.
Quit watching the idiot box and start living your life, all problems will be solved.
Couldn”t agree more! This is nothing …..at least marketing people in this case would expect elders sitting with their children watching the movie. How about a candy ad in the middle of the night on National Geographic channel(cant remember exactly but it was one of these channels!)!?
u r rite. insane advertising!!!
this trend is in vogue since longtime, who cares for silly matters, leave alone TV ads there are many areas where such inappropriate things happen. There are ennumber of NGOs what they do, or many govt agencies observe similar things what they have done other than banning AXN channel till 15th March
Good observation .. have you written to the Advertising Standard Council of India (ASCI) ?? .. Do it .. you may possibly be able to make a difference …
thats called grooming the next generation..
Poignant observation.
dear me,don”t u know nowdays kids movies are watched by adults ?they put all the masala stuff in these movie.so the adv gurus are falling into the trap.
advertisers are at fault not the ad-film makers- they have their maths right- neither the advertisers nor the Star Movies management have sense, one pumps money, the other sucks! The movie is incidental!
Quite funny. The advertisers probably feel that adults will be watching the films meant for kids.
