No answers,yet

The house is quiet and I’m  alone with my thoughts
There are many plaguing me , I must confess.
Why strifes and struggles, why loss and gain
Why minds light as laughter and minds under duress?

What is the truth ? What is it for me?
The certainty  of death  and human misery?
Or is it the innocence that we’ve lost [...]

All men work together

It has been raining a little here in Delhi and the neighbouring areas. Some slight relief to the oppressive heat that has been bogging us down. Independence Day celebrations was shadowed by the news  of  drought and failure of crops that is being predicted. Prices have been spiralling anyways. The morning nespaper had carried this article [...]

Mid-day tryst

I’ve sat watching this patch of sky
As a kid, many tens of years ago
It was as blue, the clouds as white
The palm fronds swaying to and fro.

In strife and sorrow, calm [...]

A special prayer

A friend sent me this prayer. It is kind of cute:-) “Every  single evening As  I’m lying here in  bed, This  tiny little Prayer Keeps  running through my  head: God  bless all my  family Wherever  they may be, Keep  them warm and  safe from harm For  they’re so close to  me. And  God, there is one more  thing I  wish that you could  do; Hope  you don’t [...]

Old poems, again

“Profusion in pink, blossoms on the wall
Gradients of green on the trees lithe and tall
Blue morning mists curling up from the moat
Indelible impressions of a ruined old fort?”

“A pleasant sojourn
Cool, clear and calm a morn
The gladed forests in the diminishing light
A million stars, a beautiful night

Tranquil thoughts,inspired by the bounty
Of nature manifest in that [...]

Old poems- First lot

I have always, always loved poetry, not the abstract , too intellectual kind of stuff. I have been more of a victim of maudlin sentimentalism, much too emotional at times for my own good and endowed with an incorrigibly foolish , dreamy , wistfulness.
And poetry comes in handy, particularly in those times, when [...]

Lochinvar

In school, we used to have elocution competitions. Our headmistresses, Mother Gabrielle, selected poems for each individual participant , in the different classes. Such was her love for poetry and for perfect diction that she would spend hours with us, making us recite them again and again and again, making us bite our lips [...]
