PERCEPTION
EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN WAY OF LOOKING AT THINGS.WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU IS NOT NECESSESARILY GOOD FOR ME.WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN PERSPECTIVE AND THIS SHORT STORY IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF IT.
One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the idea of showing him how the poor people lived.
They spent a couple of days & nights on the farm of a poor family.
After coming back home , the father asked his son,’How was the trip, my dear sonny?”
‘It was simply great dad’,replied the son.
‘Did you see how the poor people live? ‘asked the father.
”Oh yes’,said the son
‘So,tell me what did you learn from the trip?’asked the father.
The son answered,’I saw that we have one dog & they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden & they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden & they have countless stars at night.
Our patio reaches upto the front yard & they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live upon & they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants to serve us but they serve others.
We buy our food & they grow their own.
We have walls around our property to protect us, but they have friends to protect them.
The boy’s father was speechless.
Then his son said,’Thank you very much Dad, for showing me how poor we are’.
Isn’t perspective a wonderful thing?
It makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don’t have.
So appreciate everything you have.
