Unfortunately, honorable Bombay High Court is forcing us to go for “contempt of court”. Ironically, ignorance of the judges is keeping them on the correct path !
HighCourt seems to be all set to scrap out 70:30 system for the college admissions. It’s only a myth that ICSE/CBSE students are much much superior to SSC students. Implementation of percentile scheme has clearly indicated that ICSE/CBSE stream does NOT have sufficient number of bright students who can fill up the whopping 30% quota. To hush up that fact, English version of GR seems to have been conveniently modified to incorporate 70:30 system which safeguards the interests of incompetent students from ICSE/CBSE stream.
High Court which has large number of non-Maharashtrian judges is inherently biased against local SSC students. But ignorance of the judges is prompting them to do something that goes in favour of SSC students. Only silverlining to this नौटंकी is : Maharashtra’s Education department knows “where lies the Truth.”

The percentile system implemented by the education department is certainly a step in the positive direction. It is certainly better than the previous system of college admissions based on the percentages.
Ther certainly has to be some sort of normalisation of scores across different boards, and the percentile system is the best way.
BUT, fro next year, the dept can come up with a much better way of implementing the percentile system
