    Dear Sarath Chandra,

Thanks for the messages on the Gb.

    Dear Sarath Chandra,

i am sorry about what ever u are upset by what i wrote .

Not having basic knowledge in a particular subject is not a crime .

For eg. I have read nothing of Quantum physics. I don’t have any knowledge about it. I am not ashamed of it either .

    About asking/ begging for knowledge..

What my guruji expects of me I don’t know. Probably it is the influence of the Vedanta Shastra which is a Guru-shishya parampara, and the awareness from there ,that without Guru-preeti , one cant gain knowledge that makes me sit at his feet.

In vedanta a Shastra the feet are considered as something very special. “Pada-ambujae” ( lotus feet) is how the feet of special people ( Guru , God etc) are referred to. It is all the influence of the Vedanta Shastra; someone who is not familiar with it may not understand it at all. Thatr s what makes me not ashamed of sitting at his feet.

Am sorry this was like harassing u. In my first message on the GB it self I ve told u that I am from a circle where my Guru ji doesn’t blink an eye or correct someone who stands up and says even absolute rubbish in the astrological conferences that i go with him.

I don’t have any assumptions about u. It is only the words typed by u that I know about u.

There is nothing about not wanting to talk to u.

I am sorry about the words u have used in inverted comas. Please continue to write.

    Sheila

  21. Sarath Chandra says

    8) This again takes the cake. I thought it was quite apparent that I objected to your usage of words such as “absolute waste of time to correct it”, “spreading false gospel”, “no basic knowledge to appreciate”. I remember thanking you in every message for correcting me when I mixed up the 2 verses. In my circle, people correct people who made honest mistakes, and get back to the point. Not harass them. Maybe, answering exactly below the point now will help in identifying in what situation I talked about even here. My objection was not to your correction, but your assumptions. I am not even asking you to withdraw your assumptions. Just stay away from me if you hold those opinions. I am sure you don’t want to communicate with a guy who “spreads false gospel”, “has no basic knowledge”, or whose mistake you think is “absolute waste of time to correct”. Or am I wrong here also? Do you want to communicate with such guys?

  22. Sarath Chandra says

    7) Well, if you don’t think you are such a knowledgeable person, with what confidence are you “correcting” others, and guiding “misguided” readers from “false gospels”? Anyway, I am not the begging kind. And my teachers are not the kind who expect, or even respect, the begging kind of students, nor do they have people sit at their feet and beg them for knowledge. I primarily learn by thinking, reasoning, backing myself, and often challenging my so called gurujis. I am much more confident of myself than to beg, knowledge or anything else. I earn it.

  23. Sarath Chandra says

    5) As I said earlier in one of the Gb messages you deleted, I don’t stop talking with people, whatever the subject, for lack of knowledge, basic or otherwise. I stop only if they are rude to me or they use force. I don’t think I will “immediately stop” unless you are rude if we are talking about quantum theory. You can have your opinion and of course, your “standard” not to communicate with people with no “basic knowledge”.

    6) Whenever I say something, especially on forums like this, I say it because I think it is in some ways important. I usually don’t spend too much time on issues I don’t think are important. You might be different. Sorry for assuming that whatever you said (in such long comments), you said because you thought they were important.

  24. Sarath Chandra says

    3) One of the reasons why I answered to you point by point is this response. I thought it was pretty obvious I meant it didn’t change anything in “my stand” on issues, not in gita or other people. More clearly, your “correction” of my mixing of the 2 verses didn’t change anything in my opinions expressed in the post. Maybe, it will help if I answer point by point like this from now on.

    4) Virad rupa or whatever else any fool in the world knows he would be more proud of coming out that rupa’s mouth than his feet. No parent (who came out of the virad rupa’s mouth) would be happy if people claim his off-spring has come off his feet. It is inevitable to lead to a birth based caste system. I, of course, won’t read every book anybody asks me to read and that too again.

  25. Sarath Chandra says

These are my responses to Sheila’s messages point by point.

1 and 2) I don’t see why I should follow your, or anybody else’s, guidelines on quality control of my posts. It is my page, and I will post whatever I want with whatever research I can muster. I don’t mind, nor am I afraid of, being wrong or be corrected by others. Besides, the mistake you so tirelessly point out is a mixing up of 2 well “respected” verses. I did not mistake, say, Hitler’s philosophy for Gita’s. Further, I did not make any mistake in the post, only as a response to you. You can make your noises. I personally don’t think you are guiding “misguided” readers on to the path of enlightenment from “false gospel”. I stand by every word I said in my post, and comments. I only mistook part of purusa sukta for a verse of gita.

  26. pol inco says

yeah…liked ur optimist view on the increasingly ir-relevant physical boundaries

  27. sheila das says

    Dear Sarat Chandra,

But why do u want to have a new God? I mean I would like to know how this God is going to be different from the “religious god, the one in bible, quran, or most hindu books. “

Also since u seem to be speaking very confidently about religious books , can I know as to which of the Religious books that u are referring to / and have read completely.

This is also because since u have asked me to read about your “what is God” I would like to know the source of ur knowledge.

I ve heard a lot of people talking of their own without much base to what is being said . And as u would be aware, most things which are not authority either by it self, or by quoting an authority usually lacks depth.

Also I am not aware of what the God people have in mind. And any way I don’t let myself be bothered by what other people think of God.. .

I will surely read ur post one of these days.

    Sheila

    Sarath,
Whatever be your views … i will look forward to reading them … even if they are “contrarian”. Though I may not subscribe to them.

I have added you as a favourite … maybe that proves my intention.

    Warmly,
    Sunshine :-)

Are we all beggars? Please visit my iland for more. take care :)

  30. sunshine says

    Sarath,
I read your post “redefining corruption”. I think your opinion about bribe taker is radical …. you are clearly for bribe taking.

There is an essential difference between “baksheesh” and extortion. The former is given in happiness the later is done against the giver’s will.

If bribe is to be condoned and considered as sinless - then what are these people getting their salaries for?

You are too simplistic in your theories first about bribing and then about corrupt politicians and have arrived at a theory that both are to be considered as “necessary evils”.

    It shows up your immaturity.

I predict that Your next post will now be on how rape, child molestation etc is part of regular human behaviour and should also be condoned.

That is “contrarian theory”… contrary to what is CORRECT and obvious.

    Warmly,
    Sunshine.

    Dear Sarath Chandra,

CAn u tell me what it is to “believe in the conventional sense”. I just would like to know. Seriously.

Becasue i havent heard of 2 or more kinds of beliefs.

But my exposure to the world is so little i wouldnt know how most people do most things.

    Sheila

  32. sheila das says

    Dear Sarath Chandra,

    Thanks for ur comment .

But let me tell u, I am no one to ” interpret” even a single sentence , much alone a verse written by the great Sage Vyasa , who is the author of Gita.

What i ve written is only a word to word meaning of that sloka.

Also i felt that u are a foreigner to “GITA”. . . not that it matters to me. Just thought so.

But i am glad that u could read at least one verse from there .

Unlike the Bible, Koran which are books mandatory to be read by the followers, Gita is not obligatory to be read by any Indian or anyone “claiming ” to be a Hindu.

But it is one which has stood the test of time . . .

No one knows for sure when it was written . . .

And if marriages are going smoothly it s because of a belief that relationships haven’t been de-railed because of outside relationships.

And that s why discretion is so important. It is the people talking that is the greatest hassle. A finger is pointed at the entire family . . .

When it is a man it is one family against the entire society .

When it is a woman it is usually the husband/children and the entire society against the woman.

And of course there are the cultural differences.

    Sheila

  34. sheila das says

    -1-

Thanks for noting the post and the story .
I ve edited your name . Thanks for reminding me

As u said there are many flaws:

When I first heard the story , as I was hearing it, what struck me was “Gosh ! ! How can the king let the man feel his future wife with his hands”

But I am glad that the general message is clear.

I had wondered how to re –edit the “a woman “ part of it. But then I decided let it be. I was sure someone would raise the point / an objection …

But one thing I ll say : it s a general folly to think that “men are not persecuted similarly”. If what u said is true why does the man do such things in secrecy at least from his wife / children./ immediate family . . . .

Ask any girl whether she is willing to marry a man known for his, “loose character”.

Ask any wife whether she would like her husband to have a relation outside marriage.

    contd.

so we think all the feminist laws are justified and even necessary to punish the bad men ( not us ) all around.. and then.. one day.. it hits us directly or thru some dear one.. and that day we realise that those laws were not for the bad men .. only.. they were for us too !we know we are innocent .. but the others dont believe us, coz they today feel like we felt yesterday.. and we go to jail.. or cough up enormous fines.. hv our reputation ruined.. careers destroyed.. there ws this story in mahabharat about bak rakshas.. the villagers used to send one man every day t be devoured by bak.. so that everyone else cud live in peace for some more time.. we too friend are appeasing bak rakshas by ignoring the dangerous evil of feminism.. which will one day devour all of us! am posting two pieces on my blog which u will find very relevant to this issue .. pl check them out..

  36. Sandeep Mukherjee says

thanks for visiting and taking interest.. not many people take interest in things that dont concern their immediate issues.. the dangers of feminism hit u in the face only when someday u get personally hit..till tht time its always something remote that happens to others.. and who knows maybe it ws the man who ws to blame after all! its so interesting and easy to believe that the other guy ws actually upto something naughty! like hving a feel on the sly(eve teasing)..obsessive line maroing ( sexual harrasment).. trapping a bechari girl someplace dark and hving sex against her will(rape)..and the media tells you incessantly day in day out ( in prime time as well as late night crime shows) that women are being persecuted by men all the time.. and the female race is as pure as driven snow in matters sexual and sex is a bad virus that lives in men and goads them to somehow force it on umwilling women at any and every opportunity..

  37. anasua chatterjee says

Thanks for your comments and opinions, they are always appreciated. Keep reading my blog. I do agree that we women are very soft when it comes to demanding our rights. Women are more often viewed as liabilities by fathers and male relatives. The day men think more of their daughters (whom they brought into this world), society will change for the better. A.C.

I don’t see why you placed a comment addressed to Lissome on mine, LL Style.

Anyway, I am not interested in discussing her person or yours (at least not on a public forum). So if the direction of these messages remain the same, I will not respond in future. The issue and direction does not concern or interest me.

    Sarath Chandra

  43. LL Style says

On second thoughts, LL. I feel I must apologise for my outburst. Actually, last night my wife snubbed me saying I am a selfish guy. In frustration I came here and said all that. Actually, I have had a disturbed childhood and been troubled by its painful memories. A father who would return late at night, totally drunk, from God knows where and a frustrated mom who would take it out all on us. As a result, I developed this attitude towards women in general. So I guess when I see you so strongly and wisely demolishing the opponents, the complexities within me rise up and I start feeling uncomfortable. The fact is that being a person with many complexes, I am scared to face myself bluntly and therefore prefer to hide behind anonymous masks. At times I simply hate myself for such cowardly acts. Thanks for making me realise the serious deficiencies within me.

  44. Sarath Chandra says

Well, Mate. I am not too interested in analyzing an individual. If I find the interaction is “flawed” I try to point it out and if we are not able to agree on it I refuse to interact and the buck stops there. I try not to think of the individual.

Anyway, thanks for the points and the link; I think they might help me in evaluating the validity of arguments much better in the future.

    Sarath Chandra

  45. LL Style says

    8. She might be a revolutionary thinker but her blindness to her own flaws makes her ideas impotent. In the age of free thinking, she wants to demolish dissent. And no one needs to study Psychology 101 to know that anyone behaving this way is insecure in her own position.

If LL wants you to accept her words without a valid reason, you can put to test what I say and then only accept it.

How to test : On any topic, not for the sake of a debate, but where you wholeheartedly disagree with LL’s views, try a debate against her. She will use all the tricks in her bag to demolish you, sadly she should only be demolishing your argument and not you.
If you agree with her, you get rewarded. If you don’t, you get punished. What kind of teacher is that?

*Why believe me? Read LL’s arguments and visit the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallacy and see for yourself.
At the bottom of the page are links to what I added above.

  46. LL Style says

    LL’s argument style
I have been watching how LL behaves on iland for the past 3 months and here I present LL’s style.

    1. Her posts contain radical ideas touching many contemporary topics.
    2. She says she is always open to debates.
    3. And people wholeheartedly join these.

    But

    4. She does not know how to debate fairly.
    5. In the middle of a debate, if anyone says that she is a teacher and has a reputation in the non-virtual world, does that mean her logic is correct? - *An appeal to authority
    6. In a debate, no one starts name calling and character analysis. That is totally out of scope of the debate, but this is exactly what she does. The proper way is to oppose (not ridicule) the argument and not the speaker - *An ad hominem argument
    7. She or her supporters (in the debate) are ready to introduce different topics in her debates but she will totally forbid her opponents to do the same, ridiculing their mental age comparing it to a child - *An ad hominem argument
